I dont think you are giving Snell enough credit - the Dodgers wouldve gotten bageled against him tonight, too.

Any pitcher other than Snell would help the Brewers. I cant believe they are taking him out actually. And that is knowing that Sasaki has been unreal, too

And that approach is the reason why they arent coming anywhere close to it. Trying to hit a HR off Snell tonight just plays into that offspeed. You almost have to accidentally hit one or hope he gives you a mistake

I know its not how the game is played anymore...but when you have elite offspeed and you are throwing it for strikes, the change in velocity plus movement can make today's hitters look completely overmatched. Snell can reach back and give a guy 96 with movement, too - Brewers hitters havent proven they can adjust to all the offspeed so he simply isnt giving them the fastballs they still are hoping to see.

Brewer defense and that crazy dp are the reasons this is even a game right now. Get some guys on base and see what happens

Snell is dealing right now... he's got 96 looking the exact same as his offspeed out of his hand that either dives away or down and in on you - he makes lineups look like this regularly when he is throwing that change up for a low strike. He wont want to leave this game - Brewers need to find a way to force him out of it.

Just saw that last replay - amazing call by the left field ump that made that double play absolutely legit!

Unbelievable double play....but umps on the field were just as confused and I will say the Dodgers kind of got hosed because of that. No definitive out or safe call on that catch attempt from what I could see. Ill take it!

It is Blake Snell...if you get a hittable strike early in the count you better do something with it

As long as the zone is consistently tight for a wild Snell, ill live with it

I think part of Ashby starting is he is a lefty that could give them a couple innings, which prevents the Dodgers from trying to open the game with more of their righthanded hitters at the top of the order if, for example, Koenig was opening tonight's game. If Ashby is "on" he's got the best pure stuff on the roster when it comes to velo+pitch mix+movement.

Agreed - Priester was a starter the Brewers relied on to give them 5-7 IP every time he took the ball. I think the layoff from his last meaningful regular season start and 1st postseason one impacted him and not viewing him as a key playoff rotation piece in this series sets the pen up to be torched during that 3 game stretch in LA. Maybe open woth Koenig if you want, but id prefer priester tonight, Freddy game 2, Quintana game 3, and a long pen game 4. As others have mentioned, attempting to cycle the bullpen like crazy through a 7 game series is just asking for guys to get exposed/figured out for at bats when it matters most, especially if you arent giving your starters the opportunity to get you at least half the outs of the game. -
Easier said than done because they both have great stuff...but make them throw strikes and grind at bats. One of several things Dodgers pitching is great at is giving up walks in bunches.
