  1. The bluster around adding Miz after a handful of MLB starts to the AS Game is just something for the baseball world to debate when there aren't games going on. Seems like before Miz was asked, half the rotation arms in the NL were asked if they would like to be an All Star provided they were willing to pitch in the game, and they declined. Absent MLB just replacing all pitchers with a batting tee and turning the Midsummer Classic into the baseball equivalent of the NFL Pro Bowl carnival games, I don't know why people are upset at all about the most electric young arm in baseball adding to MLB's showcase to a national audience.
  2. I dont think so, when I'm thinking the low minors prospect could be Made...plus Myers and a third prospect. Ive wanted Ramirez in Milwaukee for years and know how good he is. If Cleveland prefers to pay Ramirez the rest of his contract over seasons they dont have enough around him to contend (or Ramirez doesnt waive his NTC), fine....but there's no way they would get a trade package better than what i'm thinking from a different team. Hell, if other teams looking to add aren't in the market at this year's deadline, replace Made with an upper tier prospect that isnt quite as highly regarded in the brewers' system and it would still be pretty valuable with the amount of MLB service time Myers still has.
  3. Yep - it's also why I think looking to trade a guy like Myers makes sense now when there are more arms coming. I think Myers plus one of the talented but raw young prospect tearing up low A ball + a lotto ticket could return a player like Jose Ramirez (i.e., impact bat at a position of need). It's nice to be beyond deep with talent across the organization, and have the development staff in correct places to get the most out of it.
  4. This is going to sound insane right now...I get it with the season-long worship of their overperforming offense, but... The Cubs aren't going to make the playoffs this year. They are still scoring alot of runs over the course of a week of games - but instead of 5-8 runs nightly it's been feast or famine with them lately - and their pitching isn't good enough collectively to win more than they lose when their bats don't score 10 runs in a game. I can see them gradually falling back in the standings enough for the brewers to overtake them for the division (just 1.5 gb now), and teams like the Padres and Giants to get hot enough to make the NL Central a 1 team playoff division.
  5. Absolutely! Seeing mid 90s pitches breaking in feet, not inches, is pure visual joy to a baseball fan. It doesn't get much better in professional sports than witnessing electric pitchers.
  6. After the leadoff bomb to Ohtani, Miz made a roster full of all stars look like beer league hitters - when you have Freddie Freeman making defensive swings and mlb hitters just praying offspeed stuff doesnt stay in the zone, you're some kind of special. This team keeps finding ways to be a really fun watch - helps being absolutely loaded with pitching right now.
  7. I think the injury/durability concerns that will go with Smith (which is why he was an undrafted collegiate FA signee to begin with and exposed him early to the Rule 5 draft) factor in alot, too. His stuff is MLB-caliber, but not necessarily as a front of the rotation starter until he proves he can be that type of workhorse. As this season wears on, it's clear Smith will have to potentially try proving that in 2026 - because that's not happening this season. Was it a mistake to leave Smith exposed in the Rule 5 draft? Yes - but I don't think it was a travesty considering how many arms the Brewers have in their organization and on their MLB roster who Smith would likely sit behind on the pecking order for innings in Milwaukee.
  8. The Dodgers' current payroll for players on IL exceeds the Brewers' adjusted 2025 team payroll Just. Disgusting.
  9. I dont have enough faith in Cubs pitching for them to run away with the division no matter how over their head the hitting stays I think the brewers do win the central
  10. Trying to recall the rules on this, but the white sox have to keep Smith in their 26-man mlb roster the full season, correct? What happens in the event of an injury/IL stint? Looking like Smith may soon be headed for purgatory with the white sox, as he's only about 15 innings off his career high for IP in a season, and his performance has cratered quite a bit. If the white sox weren't awful, i think this thread would have more posters wondering where Smith would fit in the Nashville rotation once he is sent back this way from Chicago. I doubt the sox would release Smith, but id be shocked if he stays in their rotation into August - i think he's headed for bullpen longman duty soon
  11. Also worth noting that Smith will likely reach the most IP for a season in his professional career shortly after the AS break. Are the white sox going to stretch him way out beyond 95 IP for a season, or are they going to have to send Smith to the pen to limit the injury risk that likely was the main reason the Brewers left him exposed in the Rule 5 draft in the first place?
  12. 2 of MLB's smallest markets with an inconsequential late June getaway day game for the overall playoff picture, and it's a game with a legit national following / interest because of who's on the mound. It's what makes baseball the best game - spectacle as much as sport when talent like this can be showcased.
  13. I'm not disrespecting Skenes at all, but should the above be in blue? I don't see how either is in over their head based on how this game has gone
  14. His stuff is flat out unhittable to MLB-caliber hitters if they guess the wrong pitch - and make no mistake MLB hitters have to sit on a particular pitch and location to do damage to the filth that both these pitchers have in their arsenal. Adding an established MLB catcher and detailed scouting reports on opposing hitters allows Mis to have a game called with more planning/intent than at any point in his minor league development when he was mostly working on command/pitch development. Bottom line, if he can command his pitches reasonably well within the zone and the scouting reports keep hitters guessing (i.e., Mis doesn't tip pitches or get too consistent a sequence for certain situations), Misiorowski is a top 10 starter in the game right now with a ceiling that only Skenes can match as a young arm.
  15. Glad it doesn't appear to be something requiring a surgery where Wilken is out until this time next year....but this still really sucks as he was really making a case for a promotion and being on the doorstep of a corner IF position with the Brewers as early as next Spring. Dog piles of grown men wearing metal spikes sprinting towards pitching mounds or home plate celebrating are generally not a good idea. It's amazing how frequently players actually do get hurt in these scenarios. I get being excited and celebrating, but can there be at least a little bit of "act like you've been there before" mentality to avoid these sort of injuries?
  16. Honest question - is there anyone right now who would rather have Adames at short the next 3-4 seasons and have to pay him his contract instead of Ortiz? My answer would probably still be no even if contact amounts weren't a factor That's how well Ortiz has been hitting recently on top of stellar SS defense
  17. They've played 0.500 ball in their last 10, including a split in a rain-shortened Brewer series, and the Brewers have basically cut their division lead in half over that stretch of games. So much baseball left to be played - a 3.5 game lead is nothing in late June for a baseball season. The Cubs will need to make some moves to pick up more pitching if they hope to be a runaway favorite for the division, and that assumes their offense continues overperforming. Throw in a couple significant injuries at the wrong positions and who knows what will happen in the standings a month or two from now.
  18. I think getting healthy Walker AND Cooper on the field at the same time as LBs in this system, where Walker can play more on the outside, is the hope. I feel like Quay was a square peg in the round hole of a 3-4 MLB and is a much better fit as a rangy 4-3 OLB.
  19. Brewers up 10, new ace opens his career with 9ip+ of no-hit ball looking filthy and dominant, and the game thread is half about a decision to bring him out for another inning when his pitch count was low and the team was already up big. Seems about right for late june here at brewerfanatic, 😆
  20. It is unless you have tickets earlier than memorial day or on occasion after Labor Day.
