  1. Well, it might still be an incredibly frustrating loss, but maybe not the way you expected. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Thanks, Yuni.
  2. Greinke's out of the game. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. There should be a second sausage race going right about now.
  4. Yep, it's hard not to think of how far Carlos would have run on Rickie's hit.
  5. Not being struck out by another Betancourt? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. I suppose lightning wouldn't strike twice with Casey. Edit: No problem - we only have to rely on his running in order to win in the 10th.
  7. I think Colorado used its only lefty reliever already, on Prince. Your last point is valid, though.
  8. Yeah, Brewers, send the fans to the afterlife (or the left-behind) happy.
  9. RALLY CAPS IN THE CHAT ROOM! (I'm back at a computer finally.)
  10. I had this same general thought recently. Since teams rarely lead pole-to-pole, I'd much rather lead at the end of the season. And had the Brewers gotten off to a 2007-esque hot start, we'd be constantly wondering when it was all going to fall apart. (Well, some of us, myself included.)
  11. The lineup clearly needs an 8th inning starter, which is clearly Loe. Edit: Can we call this "crazy elf talk" instead of just "crazy talk"? That's one of my favorite Onion phrases of all time. Pre-onion.com to boot!
  12. Yeah. Joseph, let me know if you object to my adding it to my rotation of signatures. Instant classic.
  13. Those could still theoretically be 1-0 games. Cheese sandwiches, anyone?
  14. KegStand81, I'll bet (and I hope) you don't eat multiple turkey sandwiches a day, obsessively record your turkey sandwich intake and keep every wrapper/box/ziploc that held your turkey sandwiches. That's the stuff that gets me about this guy (along with his body apparently and remarkably staying in decent shape). Benign "bug" for sure, but a bug doesn't have to be big to get under your skin sometimes.
  15. That's outstanding. It's on a par with the adjective we cooked up in the chat last month: Yunieskiesque. I enjoy saying that and typing it. Mrs. ttsather would clearly do just fine around Brewerfan. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. Welcome, Joseph. The part of your post I copied above reminded me that every time I see C. Carpenter losing on the out-of-town scoreboard, I now wonder what he's going to whine about this time. 1982 was the first year I followed baseball closely for a full season, so by October that year I was already not a fan of the Cardinals. About ten years ago I had a student employee who is a Cards fan and is (mostly) good about it. My favorite baseball day while he was working for me, though, was the day STL acquired Mike DeJean. I called him, got a busy signal, hung up to find he was calling me, and I just laughed into the phone for a minute. Most teams I dislike only when they're playing the Brewers. STL, CHC and NYY are the only teams I dislike all the time: NYY because of what I perceive (not necessarily fairly) as the uneven playing field tilted in their favor - though nowadays whenever I type sentences like that, I think of Principessa and am softened up a bit, just for her and TLB. Fans who love the Yankees the way we love the Brewers, I can respect. CHC was fine with me until the 2003 season, when the Miller Park takeovers began to feel out of hand. There was a terrible (for Milwaukee) series in September 2003 where the Cubs rolled, their fans got super riled and I did not feel safe on my way out of Miller Park. I don't ever want to feel that way in my home ballpark again. It's more their fanbase, or the portion of the fanbase that invades MP, that gets to me, though plenty enough of their players get to me as well. STL's sense of superiority turns me off - from some of their media types, some of their fanbase and some team personnel. If they were merely ruthlessly efficient baseball machines, year in and year out, that would only turn me off when they're playing the Brewers. If they were as much against Pujols watching his home runs as they are against any opponent doing the same, I could get behind that (not being a fan of that kind of grandstanding myself, including when Brewers display it). But "he's earned that right" is crap, and hypocritical to boot. So I guess it's STL for me still, and CHC in second place. At present, CIN is only an issue for me when they're playing the Brewers.
  17. Chances are most anyone who counts Sean Green among their favorite baseball players hasn't been overly happy about it lately anyway.
  18. That's terrific. Congratulations to your whole family! And yeah, get used to thinking of yourselves as a family. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. So did I, which is why I took a walk around the concourse once he came up - my first concourse walk of the 2011 season. Man, I dislike Ryan Doumit. Conversely, I like Zack Greinke, and finally feel comfortable letting my fan crush develop now that I've actually seen him pitch in person. I look forward to seeing him go deeper in games. A day with (on balance) encouraging performances from Greinke, Hart and Lucroy is hard to top on the hawingmeter. Now that it's all-star balloting season, we usually fill out enough ballots to redeem for tickets for the baseball memorabilia drawing. Today the S.O. got back from delivering the ballots to report that the "prize" today was something from Wil Nieves. He added that no fan was in sight of the ballot area when he approached. Then the fan in front of us said that once he saw Nieves' name on the sign he thought about saving his ballots for the next game. That was kind of funny, in a sad way. The hawing party continues on its unprecedented roll; the Brewers are 7-2 in games we have attended this year. I'm in mild disbelief that we're almost 25% of the way through our games.
  20. Just typing in RHP Zack Greinke as I edit the lead post makes me happy. Plus it's not a total Sunday lineup! The Major League Moment kids don't get ripped off with a Kotsay or Nieves. Let's go Brewers!
  21. I was just thinking as I edited the lead post, Sunday lineup on a Saturday (except for Nieves, who I'm now certain to see on the real Sunday). Maybe they want to keep Corey and Yuni fresh to come off the bench after Karstens plunks someone today? (That sentence is in very dark blue.)Catch the Pirates, guys.
  22. The Brewers' have baseball's best record in games played on Friday the 13th: 23-13. Thanks for the factoid, Cory Provus! Also, that Pirates poster must be a heck of a lip reader to be able to declare that Rickie was talking about Ronny Cedeno's wife.
  23. There were two episodes on NBC Thursday night.
  24. Matt Capps threw at Prince's head in 2007. Ryan had the nerve to be happy about a pennant race changing grand slam in 2008. Jeff Karstens plunked Ryan in 2009 and Ryan mouthed off about it a bit after the game. And yeah, there was that lengthy win streak over PIT, then a lengthy home win streak over PIT.
