  1. I was hoping some Brewer would get on base just to see Cappy's sweet, sweet pickoff move. Preferably one that just misses. Sigh. P.S. Shaun: Just because I'm waxing nostalgic for the moment does not mean you can walk the pitcher.
  2. John Brian Axford? Dad must be a Brewerfan reader! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. Yeah, sorry, I don't know the answer, and my guess is the lack of responses means others don't either. We've been able to change seats to an upgraded section (i.e. different price level) by paying the difference, but those were our season tickets and I wouldn't know if guest tickets are subject to different rules. I'd call the ticket office to find out what's possible.
  4. Not going to lie; I did not. Good on you, Brewers. Now keep it up.
  5. You'd better not let them convert you (or your wife, again). If you're wearing Brewers gear tonight, I fully expect FSWisconsin will show you at least once.
  6. I don't know, Kalle...based on your quote above (to which I added bold), I think we're steering you in the right direction. Indeed, STL nation has to either be on board with everyone showboating or no one.
  7. Had your friend simply texted you, you would never in a million years have thought he was being serious. So of course he had to call. We got to our family birthday party just as the 5th inning ended on the car radio. As we turned off the radio I said, "Now Chris, avoid the big inning." He must have misheard me. But no one else at the party was thinking about baseball, so we were blissfully ignorant until we got home. Dang. So I'm afraid I'm not surprised by the big inning; a little surprised at the Wilson Crush. And I am going to try to enjoy the present.
  8. Today we were at a birthday party for a kid in the S.O.'s family. Every year at this party we see the birthday kid's "in-law" cousins (i.e. not our relatives), including these redhead identical twin boys who I swear could be voice doubles for Rod and Todd Flanders. They're probably 4 or 5 years old, and every time they ask for another cookie or whatever in their Rod and Todd voices, I wince inside. This year, to add to my irritation, the twins burst onto the scene wearing identical Cubs shirts.
  9. Come on, Narv. Avoid the big inning. Give me something decent to listen to on the car radio today.
  10. endaround mentioned it, just in a link-filled post that makes the Summerfest link slightly easier to overlook.
  11. It took a while for Yuku to stop displaying 0 users, but the chat room is occupied, and those of you who participated last night know how critical that was to the Brewers' success.
  12. There is a Friday's Front Row Grill inside MP, but you don't have to do restaurant dining to have a brat with secret stadium sauce. I second the recommendation on the brat + secret sauce.
  13. Chiming in late...how about that Plush Crush! Think Nyjer was motivated to succeed on that at-bat?
  14. A few thoughts... For frozen custard (don't call it ice cream), I would give Gilles' Frozen Custard the nod over Kopp's. It's at 76th and Blue Mound, so if you take Blue Mound from the ballpark to the zoo it's on the way. Gilles is where Bud Selig takes lunch many days when he is working in Milwaukee. Hot dog, hot fudge sundae, watch for the black Lexus parked on the west side of the building. Of course, a place associated with Selig may rub you as much the wrong way as the right. The Lakefront Brewery has Bernie Brewer's slide and chalet from the Milwaukee County Stadium days, so there's something of baseball interest as well as the brewery itself. Have you settled on game dates and seats for the CIN series? I'm sure you already know it's Thursday-Sunday, July 7-10. So far, Saturdays have been the biggest-attendance day of the week, so if you wanted to go 7/9 and don't have a ticket yet, it may be a challenge unless you want a really cheap seat or a really expensive one. Friday and Sunday crowds are a notch or two behind in terms of size. Thursday is not likely to be problematic unless - maybe - the Brewers are in first place by then or have made a popular roster change by then. Your lead post didn't really touch on where to sit, but if you want advice on that as well, you can get a ton from us. As for how Brewers fans will accept your Reds gear...I would certainly not expect a beatdown or serious abuse. If you sit in, say, the RF loge bleachers (i.e. the Beerpen) or terrace reserved on Saturday night, your chances of getting razzed would increase. If you take the CHC fan route and are in everyone's faces - or maybe the STL route and spend the game sighing or tut-tutting at our lack of class - that won't win you over. But if you're a cool CIN fan who avoids trash talk, I wouldn't expect trouble. A little more on Milwaukee baseball history: near the home plate entrance to MP is Helfaer Field, a little league scale field that is roughly on the site of County Stadium's field. (In the photo posted above by trwi7, the entrance to Helfaer is visible under the clock tower.) Outside the Helfaer grounds is a set of monuments to the Milwaukee Braves, which I think is worth checking out. Behind the left field seating at Helfaer is also a plate marking the location of County Stadium's home plate. (Home plate at Helfaer is roughly where first base was at County.) If you approach MP from the north, in the "Brewers" parking lot is a plaque in the cement marking the spot where Hank Aaron's last home run ball landed. That location was in the seats at County. The Brewers lot is preferred parking and the plaque is right behind (or I guess in front of) a parking space, so it's easier to find before the lots fill up. Finally, my two cents on parking: Molitor lot FTW. You'd take Blue Mound Rd to enter it, parking is a little cheaper, and you'd be walking through a lot chock full of tailgating to get to the park. The route you'd take goes right past Helfaer and the Aaron plaque. Then when you leave, head west on Blue Mound for custard and/or zoo. The Molitor lot is also the customary parking home to many bf.net faithful. Do let us know when you're going. We're fan enough to say hi. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif The only thing I can't wish you is a sweep for your team.
  15. Lance Lynn, John Jay, Allen Craig. What is it with STL and the two-first-names guys? Also, CheezWizHed is totally correct. I don't know if it's just TLR or everyone in the Cardinals' organization, but Satan has to be involved.
  16. It's cool that he showed some interest in the Brewers still, and I'm glad he's happy where he is now. Nice story!
  17. On the bus ride to work this morning, I saw a vehicle with a ball-glove logo license plate that read NFL 14. Anyone want to give me hope that the NFL doesn't mean there's a car owner out there who paid extra for Brewers plates and personalization to promote football?
  18. Seeing SF beat STL also helped fill the void.
  19. FSWisconsin is showing the Hart 3-HR game vs. Washington from last week, so I'm getting my fix.
  20. I'm pretty sure that a homer by the leadoff hitter is literally the best way a team can start a game.Yeah...kind of my point. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Was it the first or second pitch? because we could split hairs that way.
  21. There's just about no way to top that start to the game, is there? Nice, Rickie.
  22. /rimshot/ You beat me to the punchline! Let's go, Brewers.
  23. They seriously have to have sold their souls at some point.
  24. So how exactly does that work? I might get tickets to the Thursday game. Check this brewers.com link. Loge outfield seats will be either $14 or $13 (depending on how tonight's game ends) during the Mets series next week. Regular price is $30.
