  1. YOU SHALL WAIT NO MORE! 💙💛
  2. I always thought it was Dwayne Mosley, and the presence of that clip above on the Wisconsin Broadcasting Museum's website suggests exactly that. https://www.wisconsinbroadcastingmuseum.org/uncategorized/1982-alcs-game-5-brewers-radio-call-of-final-out/ Based on the lone comment to that entry, Dan Markus agreed with me in 2023. Whoever said it, "Milwaukee! You have a World Series!" was such a perfect way to put it. 🥲 ETA: Also "ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!" 🥲🥲🥲
  3. If you're senior enough around these internet parts, you might remember the BF.net poster WhatwaswrongwithAlexOchoa.
  4. Not ultra on-topic for this discussion, but Aaron has been warming up to 1989 Young MC anthem Bust A Move this year, and that makes me smile every time.
  5. What's also great about posting Jim Abbott (though primarily to me) is that he was the starting pitcher for the California Angels in the 1989 game that was my first date with my (now 36-year) SO! Of course, Abbott shut out the Brewers 6-0. Fortunately that was not a harbinger for the relationship. ☺️
  6. I am delighted to not be the only fan to still use that nickname!
  7. That 2008 game 3 is why I will always be a Dave Bush fan. I even friended him on Facebook and got him to wave at me from the visiting bullpen a few years ago when he was the Red Sox pitching coach. (I have photo evidence of the latter but not right at hand to post here)
  8. I missed my chance to get out my elite, never worn but team issued Dinelson Lamet jersey. But better yet, we're at 28.
  9. I still refer to him as Carne Estrada because of someone's 2007 observation on the original iteration of this message board. 😀
  10. The racing photos serve a purpose when the magic number is close to changing. 🤷‍♀️
  11. If they do, it must be the same clause that makes Craig Coshun call every good starting pitcher outing A GEM.
  12. We keep track of this every year in the hawing household. This year is unprecedented to date: 21-7. (Though I almost hate to mention it as we're about to leave for game 29)
  13. Some of you know that I work at the Wisconsin Historical Society in Madison. We're currently between museums right now, with a fancy new one under construction. There's a ton of planning underway for what will be on exhibit in the new building, including a small display of items that represent Brewers tailgating. My museum colleagues asked for my help on this part because they know I follow the Brewers closely, but in all honesty we don't tailgate very often, given how many games we attend and the 156 mile round trip each game involves. If you have Brewers items* that you'd consider parting with, so they could be included in the exhibit and thus officially part of Wisconsin history, send me a DM and I can connect you and the museum folks to see if what you have matches what they're looking for and can fit in the exhibit space. (The museum also accepts loans of material if you want to have the right to call it back. I can't speak completely confidently on this point, but for a sense of timing, the museum is currently scheduled to open in 2027.) *Examples of items they're looking for: Flags that have flown over a tailgate, apparel (shirts/hats/jackets/etc) that have been worn to a tailgate (better yet if they are tailgate themed), a Brewers-branded cooler (even a stadium giveaway), maybe a little retired grill... almost anything that if you see it, you think "tailgating for a Brewers game." They are also interested in Uecker memorabilia, though I told them that nowadays, folks are pretty much going to hang on to whatever Ueck stuff they have. If you're a Twitter/X user, I can also be reached there, and my handle is in my profile on the left. Thanks for considering this!
  14. The only part that puzzled me is why the designation was retroactive to 7/31 when the injury happened 7/28. Though 14 days past the 31st does line up with when they'd probably most want him back.
  15. The pop culture blows continue. Loni Anderson has died. Had she made it to Tuesday she'd have turned 80. AP story We have WKRP in Cincinnati on DVD, and while we always get it out at Thanksgiving for the Turkeys Away classic episode, I really should revisit the whole series sometime. That was a good show.
  16. I kind of want to send Aaron Civale a nice fruit basket or the like for what he did for the Brewers.
  17. What a great game for the Brewerfanatic meetup. At least as cool as that game in 2005 when Prince and Rickie hit their first MLB home runs.
  18. They're celebrating 25 seasons of the current ballpark, bringing in alumni and having a home run derby after: https://www.mlb.com/brewers/tickets/promotions/25-seasons (Though it's still a stretch for day-job people, including those from outside southeast Wisconsin)
  19. Five days late, but my observation on this game and how it ended: Remember the early April 2018 game when STL hit back to back home runs to lead off the game and Yelich and Braun hit back to back home runs to tie and then win it? The vibes in the park after this May 27 game reminded me immediately of the vibes that night. (That's good.)
  20. Haha, you'd think I'd post here all the time, but all my library duties don't give me that much time to read. But I have been reading this: Funny Because It's True : how The Onion created modern American news satire . It's heavily in my wheelhouse because it launched in Madison right while I was in grad school at UW-Madison.
  21. Congratulations! That's longer than Brewerfan(atic) has been around.
  22. Loretta Swit, best known as Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan in M*A*S*H, has died. Washington Post story
  23. Godspeed to fans attending tonight's game amid the cribbage board giveaway frenzy. This is an example of how I don't really miss moving almost all of the giveaways from Sundays to Saturdays.
  24. I say "pray for mojo" all the time in other contexts, but it feels like it's been a while since I deployed it here.
