  2. I haven't seen evidence of secret stadium sauce other than self-serve squirts (which is a terrible looking phrase without context!). I also wonder if the Brewers dropped Koops as a mustard sponsor. I thought they were still advertising "Koops with a K!" but the mustard I saw (I don't even remember what level) was Heinz yellow. I have also seen condiment stations with Gorman's special mustard, or whatever it is. Edited to add: I believe cheese is an option for the Zaffiro's pizza - not just pepperoni. On the Sunday of the Cubs series a cub mom in our row was insisting we try some of her pizza and there was definitely no meat on it.
  3. One of those wacky 6:40 start times. I wonder if fans will forget and show up late? 4. For some reason, it's Beatles Night at Miller Park. I have nothing against the Beatles, but I don't tend to equate them with baseball in my mind. 5. Haha, I'm pretty sure I also have a Rob Deer Starting Lineup figure. Later in 1987 there was a Rob Deer Growth Chart giveaway for fans 16 and under. I happened to be at that game and they gave me a poster without even asking my age (I was 21). So Rob Deer graced the wall of my dorm room the following school year (in an all-girls dorm, mind you). I still have the poster too, and would display it if we had sufficient wall space at home.
  6. I've noticed an absence of retro-style shirseys for probably a few seasons now. I'm sure they have enough market research to know whether those sold enough to justify making them, but it seems like in a world where the players regularly wear jerseys that don't just say Brewers in "modern" script, that the available shirseys would follow suit.
  7. The link in the opening post includes the Rangers' TV crew's call of the Deer home run - which I hadn't heard before this week. I enjoy how the first thing on the clip is basically "Rob Deer's going to have a tough time putting this out in this wind," and then BOOM.
  8. Happily back home, to a place which can respond somewhat to adverse weather! Cardinals: CF Dexter Fowler (S) SS Aledmys Diaz ® 1B Matt Carpenter (L) RF Stephen Piscotty ® C Yadier Molina ® 3B Jedd Gyorko ® LF Randal Grichuk ® 2B Kolten Wong (L) RHP Carlos Martinez ® Brewers: 2B Jonathan Villar (S) 1B Eric Thames (L) LF Ryan Braun ® 3B Travis Shaw (L) RF Domingo Santana ® SS Hernan Perez ® CF Kirk Nieuwenhuis (L) C Jett Bandy ® RHP Zach Davies ® May good triumph tonight.
  9. Whether you remember the day it happened or not, this is now a 30-year-old game: Easter Sunday 1987 Here's a thread where you can share memories, state or claim that you were there, or reflect on how many "minus" years old you were if not alive on this date in 1987. I was home from UW-Madison for spring break, listening to the radio broadcast on my mom's porch in Monroe. I remember jumping up and down and punching the sky. After the game ended, I thought to use my brother's crappy Realistic Radio Shack stereo with tape deck to record Pat Hughes' 10th inning show onto a crappy Radio Shack cassette - which I still own, and should probably figure out how to make into an MP3.
  10. I wonder how much the broadcasts will mention 1987 today. 13. The Brewers are probably already planning shirseys with THAMES written in Korean characters - not unlike was done (in Japanese) for Nori Aoki.
  14. I wore a Brewers cap and Branyan shirsey to the game we attended at Progressive Field in 2009, because by then Russell was on the opposing team (Mariners) and I wanted to see him play. Three Progressive Field employees commented favorably on my cap, with one thanking me for hosting the Indians during that snowy series in 2007 (as if I'd had anything to do with it personally?). There was no reaction to the shirsey as far as I could tell. It was not a large crowd, which could have had something to do with it. Best thing about that day? Russell hit a home run, struck out and walked.
