  2. The hawing household has two 20-packs which cover about half of the home schedule, so we "watch" those in person. For games we don't attend, I actually prefer to follow by radio or Gameday audio (depending on where I am), although the S.O. usually has FSWI on or can switch back to it quickly in case of a big play. Weekday games are difficult to follow straight through unless it's an uncommonly quiet day at the library. I like both the Uecker/Levering and Levering/Grindle called games, all more so than the BA/Rock or Lepay/Rock pairings. Opting for radio is also easy for me if Craig Coshun is on play by play. So it's a rare game that I miss completely.
  3. Wow, you guys, just wow. I realize the Mets are without a lot of expected pieces right now, but I don't see how being down 7-1 and then outscoring your opponent 10-2 over the last three innings isn't impressive. The crowd was pretty into it, which is not something to count on with a Sunday/Mother's Day crowd. It was just a nice, nice end to the homestand.
  4. Meet the Mets! LF Michael Conforto (L) SS Asdrubal Cabrera (S) RF Jay Bruce (L) 2B Neil Walker (S) 3B T.J. 5. I'm guessing it's a school-year thing, since it typically only holds for April and May.
  6. In some ways I prefer to visit other stadiums when I'm neutral (or largely neutral) on both teams. That way I can focus more on what's different about each ballpark instead of solely on how unnecessarily dramatic the Brewers are making a game. At Progressive Field, be sure to check out Heritage Park beyond center field, featuring the Indians Hall of Fame and other historical goodness. I'll add that when we visited Progressive in 2009, I wore a Brewers hat and Branyan shirsey (Russell was playing for the visiting Mariners that day) and multiple people, fans and employees, remarked favorably on my Brewers fandom. One employee thanked me for hosting that snowy series in 2007 or whenever that was. I didn't have anything to do with that, but saw no value in pointing that out. Have fun!
  7. I wanted one of those clocks but they were long gone by the time we arrived. We had a group of my student employees with us and that delayed our usual early arrival. I didn't know BF guys were around because I think that was maybe my first month or so of BF membership and I was still mostly lurking.
  8. Thanks to the IGT creators of the last couple of days, so I could attend Tuesday's and Wednesday's games (the latter featuring a visit from our own Mass Haas)! Back to today's tilt, though. 13. There's too much rain in STL to play tonight. A makeup date for Wednesday's game will be announced later. To improve the chance of being able to play Thursday's game, its start time is changing from 12:45 PM to 6:15 PM CDT.
  14. And the bullet is thought to have been fired from outside the stadium. [sarcasm]So much for those metal detectors at all the MLB park gates.[/sarcasm] I hope this doesn't inspire anyone to see what they can hit in Miller Park if they stand in a parking lot/the VA Woods/outside a bar on Blue Mound/etc.

  16. Oh, man, I hear you. I've had to shorten or roll up petite garments for myself - that's how short my arms are. I suppose manufacturers conclude that it's easier for shorter-armed people to roll up than for longer-armed people to...shorten their arms?
  17. His comments seem a bit incongruous since he and the Braves hit "lights out" this weekend. That was not lost on the fans sitting in the central loge around us yesterday.

  19. I don't think lineups will be available before the hawing party has to leave to get to Milwaukee, but here's a start to the thread.
  20. Sorry, guys; I had the game thread on my mind yesterday and then slept through a lot of the game...which may have been its own blessing?
  21. I don't know whether this is the Brewerfan debut of the video, but it's been steadily going around social media sites and has been called to the Brewers' attention. They may have to get rights to broadcast it at Miller Park.
  22. The Bartolo Colon experience comes to Milwaukee. Braves starters: CF Ender Inciarte (L) 3B Adonis Garcia ® 1B Freddie Freeman (L) LF Matt Kemp ® RF Nick Markakis (L) C Tyler Flowers ® 2B Jace Peterson (L) SS Dansby Swanson ® RHP Bartolo Colon ® Brewers starters: 2B Jonathan Villar (S) 1B Eric Thames (L) LF Ryan Braun ® 3B Travis Shaw (L) RF Hernan Perez ® C Jett Bandy ® CF Keon Broxton ® SS Orlando Arcia ® RHP Chase Anderson ®
  23. Hahahahahahahahaaa. Calling Jim Edmonds "Diego" was my personal highlight of his time with Milwaukee. A trivia question gone awry.
  24. The Brewers just started selling Thames shirseys last night. Adam McCalvy reports that the delay was due to Thames not having signed off on having his name and number on a shirt. His absence from the MLB resulted in his not even thinking about that issue.
  25. Starting lineups for this midweek matinee...
