  1. An 'excuse me' check swing 'base hit' and a 7-bounce hopper that Gennett can't get to. Jeffress deserves better.
  2. Way to grind out a couple of runs. Let's hope the bullpen can make this stand up.
  3. Because Scooter deserves a free pass since he's apart of the future and Weeks isn't. Understandable. Nobody deserves a free pass for boneheaded play.
  4. I think Scooter gets too much credit for his defense because he's "not Rickie". Scooter is at best....average at 2nd base, whereas the measuring stick he's held against (Weeks) is gawdawful. By that comparison, he ends up looking better than he really is.
  5. Awesome. First and third, nobody out, and we're gonna get skunked.
  6. Agreed, didn't this kind of start with the Johnny Damon era Red Sox? If they did it to mock the Yankees I'm all for it then, but it has run its course. Agreed. I think it took off with Brian Wilson. Sell it and they will come. Brian Wilson is a joke. He eventually just became a sad caricature of himself.
  7. It would be one thing if these horrible beards were trimmed and groomed. These guys just look like grizzled mountain men who could pass for homeless if they were wearing a flannel sweatshirt. There's nothing cool about these things.
  8. Another terrible beard. They should add one run to anyone's E.R.A. who has a terrible beard like that.
  9. Except that his OOZ swing % has only gone up marginally from last year to this year. Last year it was 34.5%, this year it's 37.1%. That doesn't tell the story of how he went from a .750-ish OPS guy to a sub .600 OPS guy. His gb/fb/ld ratios are all about the same. His HR per FB ratio is down (almost by half). His strikeouts are actually down. I think everyone knows he's "rolling over to shortstop", the question is 'why'?
  10. I don't mind Segura stealing with 2 outs to get into scoring position.....I just mind that he's getting caught. He's now 16/9 in stolen bases. At that caught stealing rate, he might as well never try to steal, because he's costing the team runs. Even if you try to split it into context specific situations, he shouldn't steal if he's successful less than 67% of the time. When you add on the fact that you have one of your best XBH guys on the team at the plate, it's just not a good move.
  11. The double bonus side effect is that it is also fewer pitches that a tough pitcher like Ross has to throw.
  12. I don't like the baserunning metrics for a variety of reasons. The biggest one is that they just tell you "this guy took an extra base" or "this guy got thrown out trying to take an extra base". There's no context. That doesn't tell you if it's truly "good baserunning" or "bad baserunning". It just measures extra bases and outs on the basepaths, nothing more.
  13. Hah, take that! You clearly underestimated our baserunning! Nicely played. For those of us without video, what happened? First and third, 2 outs. A ball in the dirt, and Davis got thrown out by a mile trying to go to 2nd.
  14. THrown out at 2nd, with a man on 3rd, and two outs. Great baserunning! (blue)
  15. Good job guys. Guy on 3rd, and swing at nothing but crap in the dirt. Ramirez literally had to bend over to swing at those, and still swings at every pitch.
  16. Jimmy gives up a double to a pitcher (who's never had an extra base hit, and Segura misplays an easy out into what turns into a 2 run erro
  17. I know this is a 7 run lead, but man Reynolds sucks with man on 3rd and less than 2 outs.
  18. According to Bill, every medium-deep flyball here "that woulda been gone in Miller Park".
  19. Not quite as bad as Brian saying "Ryan Braun has 11 home runs in 45 games at Petco. That's a home run every 4 at bats." I noticed that as well. I give BA a pass as he doesn't usually say things that egregiously wrong.
  20. I hate when they say "Aramis Ramirez is a triple away from the cycle." This guy has 4 triples in 3 seasons as a Brewer. He only gets triples when someone falls down.
