  1. And there goes Capuano's perfecto, no-hitter, and shutout. With one swing of the bat, too. *Sigh* Maybe the next start.
  2. Well, Capuano's been perfect through two... Only seven more innings to go. Why not?
  3. To paraphrase that Britney Spears song: "Oops, he did it again..." 4-0 Brewers.
  4. Six up, six down... Capuano's perfect so far. EDIT: Changing numbers
  5. Run up a big margin against the starter... Big inning, I hope...
  6. No - Kinney can't get the blame for this one. My beef isn't that he can't be a good pitcher, it's that he is so inconsistent about the outings. OK start, bad start, good start, bad start, OK start, rocked. As rluzinski says, Adrian Hernandez get a mulligan. Every reliever sometimes has an outing like this. Even the good ones like Mariano Rivera (remember how he blew a couple of games for the Yankees in the 2001 World Series?). Also, the Brewers should get a better #2 catcher if Moeller's only going to play 60% of the time. Otherwise, Moeller ought to start for four of the five starters.
  7. The offense had better score a lot of runs... If Kinney gets in trouble... the Cards will get a big inning. Most teams usually do.
  8. From what I remember, a lot of those hits came from the 7th inning on. Ned tried to push Doug an inning too far. Pull him out after six, it's early in the season. Let Adrian Hernandez take two innings, and let Bennett get the last one. The other concern I have is that after an impressive game Monday, Kolb was not up to snuff today. This could be a problem.
  9. The offense had better have a huge day tomorrow. Kolb will have worked the first two games of the season. Plus, Kinney will be on the mound, and when he gets in trouble that usually causes a big inning. EDIT: Is it just me, or does Kolb have trouble when he pitches two consecutive games? EDIT 2: Final score 7-5, BREWERS WIN! BELIEVE!
  10. Well, the smile is fading from mine... Why is Yost sending Davis to pitch the seventh?
  11. gregmag Hey, did you think the Cactus League Championship this year was a fluke? DHonks Baseball is a game of luck sometimes. EDIT: Leadoff single... open up the floodgates again, Brewers! EDIT 2: I also think it's time to bring in the bullpen. No need to push Davis any further. He's given the Crew a quality start. Let Adrian Hernandez and Jeff Bennett finish this one off.
  12. Iron Chief Napalm I don't know why Yost is doingit. The best guess I have is he wants Bennett's defense in there. Can't say that would be a bad decision: on Opening Day, Womack swiped three off Moeller.
  13. Homers, doubles... I don't care - just as long as they score more runs than the other team! -- Iron Chief Napalm These ARE the Brewers, the 2004 Cactus League champions. Today, the Cactus League champs; tomorrow, the World Champions.
  14. Either that or the Cards got lucky. If Davis were pitching ugly, I'd expect Edmonds, Pujols, Rolen, and/or Sanders to do most of the damage. Marquis is looking ugly, though. If the Crew can pounce on him in the fifth, and rack up three or four runs in a big inning, they can put Hernandez in and let the bullpen take over. If LaRussa isn't quick with the hook... EDIT: It seems Davis has good secondaries (WHIP of 1.00, 4 K in 5 innings). Chalk up the gopher balls to bad luck.
  15. Kolb, Vizcaino, and Bennett... the 2004 version of the Nasty Boys. And we've not yet seen what Adrian Hernandez can do...
  16. Brewers are STILL undefeated. 1-0!
  17. Luis Vizcaino looks like he is in 2002 form. Two Ks in the 8th... EDIT: Okay, Danny, time to earn your pay...
  18. The Brewers are up... C;mon, Ben, hold `em down, let's add an insurance run int he 8th, and then Hernandez and Kolb can close it out.
  19. RoCoBrewfan Well, that might be something for Maddux to work on. Then again, some days, the curves just don't break.
  20. Maybe a bad day, or something. How many change-ups did he use? Could it be that he is still trying to make it work? EDIT: At least that inning is over. Get the lead back, jump on Morris, and win this game ugly.
  21. Guess Matt Morris shouldn't have been handing out all those free passes... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif EDIT: Of course, it seems like Ben Sheets is just as wild... four free passes himself... EDIT 2: And the free passes come back to bite Ben in the rear... I don't think either pitching coach is going to be happy with today's game. I just hope we can outslug the Cards. EDIT 3: All tied up at 4. Okay, maybe they shouldn't be teaching Ben a change-up. How about a slider or knuckleball, instead? EDIT 4: Time for the bullpen?
  22. Nice of the Cards to return the favor... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif EDIT: ALL RIGHT!! Crew up 2-1! EDIT 2: 60 pitches through 3 innings... Pull Ben after five, and let the bullpen take over. EDIT 3: BEN GRIEVE GOES DEEP!!! 4-1!
  23. 25 pitches in the first inning... he just might get tired. They're striking out, but working the count. I just hope we have enough guys who can go long... EDIT: According to Yahoo, Scott Rolen did an impression of Alex Sanchez... EDIT 2: Take that back, we're down 1-0 after Matheny singles. Somehow the pickoff must have gone wild...
  24. Let's just hope that Ben can take it up a notch or two now that the games are for real. We did pretty darned good in the Cactus League. Let's show the NL that it wasn't a fluke.
