  1. I am operating under the assumption of an OD outfield of Frelick in left, Mitchell in center, and Taylor in right. Three relatively young CF-types (in other words, they get to a lot of balls). So, defensively (for those who defend the shift of Braun from 3B after a ROY season), it's hard to top that. Maybe you work Yelich in the OF part-time to give them breaks, but out of the six of Frelick, Mitchell, Taylor, Ruiz, Perkins, and Yelich, the 2022 NL Gold Glove finalist is sixth out of six defensively. On the flip side, if he's not running all over the field to make catches, perhaps he stays healthier and the offense goes up. The shift ban will also help, true, but DH Yelich could be a 3-3.5 WAR guy at worst. Maybe he gets back to the 2018-2019 form. Even in 2020, his ISO was pretty good, his BABIP was an outlier.
  2. Leading off, Yelich posted a .767 OPS, per Baseball Reference. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=yelicch01&year=2022&t=b I think 3 WAR is possible. Yelich's LD percentage was a career low, and BABIP is trending upward. He's not washed up by a long shot.
  3. Anderson is intriguing, I'd think a two-year deal with a team option might be doable: 2023: $3.75 million + $250K signing bonus 2024: $4 million 2025: $5 million w/$1 million buyout.
  4. As is they would play outfield all the time when they are in the lineup, as opposed to Turang and Wong, who are primarily infielders, I don't think Perkins is any more than a platoon partner for Frelick/Mitchell against lefties.
  5. The Brewers had another need: Room for multiple prospects in the outfield: Frelick, Mitchell, Wiemer, Chourio, Ruiz. This doesn't include Perkins, Taylor, and Yelich as full-time OFs, or guys like Turang and Wong, who've seen time in the OF in their professional careers. Three pitchers, two of whom could be rotation depth and the third a potential late-inning reliever? Beats the zilch the Crew would get from non-tendering Renfroe or a paltry sum of cash from a waiver claim.
  6. Yeah, could be that RH platoon option for Felick/Mitchell and putting Taylor as starting RF, maybe he and Ruiz compete for 4th OF. Yelich as full-time DH in that scenario. If Weimer/Churio force the issue, he's depth at AAA.
  7. I'm thinking a combo of 2 and 3... with 1 a partial factor (in so far as Frelick/Weimer's emergence means the $11M on Renfroe is not the best way to spend the money). As for 3, the Brewers probably think they can turn these guys into useful parts of a bullpen, and they will come with a LOT of team control/cheap years. If they have to put a reliable contributor like Brent Suter on waivers... they probably need cheap bullpen arms with multiple minor-league options.
  8. Best Brewers 2B Ever - Rickie Weeks or Jim Gantner?
  9. Not bad... I'd be interested in how much of the OBP was hits versus walks/HBP...
  10. How did the OPS break down between OBP and slugging?
  11. To be frank, the Brewers did seem to fall short with a LOT of fundamentals in the offense, How many Ks with RISP and less than 2 out have we seen? Far too many for a consistent offense. Heck, we could even be teaching those fundamentals to the guys who focus on the home runs - give them an extra skill that other teams have to at least think about...
  12. My thinking as well. Frelick and Mitchell both ready. Taylor pretty solid. Wiemer knocking by the end of 2023... what's not to like? And the Crew usually gets a lot out of "discards" in the bullpen.
  13. https://www.mlb.com/news/non-tendered-free-agents-2022-23 Are any of the non-tendered players possible upgrades for the Brewers? Could Cody Bellinger be a rebound candidate? Brian Anderson as an option at third? Could Luke Voit be an option at 1B/DH?
  14. Which could be good because the Crew can get him back for a second stint at a bargain. See Jeff Cirillo.
  15. Mariners get: 2B Kolton Wong OF Hunter Renfroe Brewers get: IF Dylan Moore OF Adam Winkler CB round B pick 3B Miklar Perez C/OF Cooper Hummel
  16. Posting this tidbit without comment: https://www.mlb.com/news/kyle-lewis-trade-diamondbacks-mariners
  17. Flexen/Locklear makes sense. Maybe we can toss in Hunter Renfroe for a couple additional prospects to open up 2B for Turang.
  18. Yeah. It's a low-risk move ($100,000K), and if it pans out, great. Next-best case, he's a cheap replacement for Milner.
  19. As a 1-2 inning guy, one trip through the order? Makes a nice supplement. Heck, I think he might even be MLB-ready for late-inning stuff. Think a Hader replacement.
  20. Turner at third would be the only way for this to make sense. But if this was even possible, why pick up Wong for $10 million? Why not have Turang/Urias take over second? Even if we got Turner, we'd have to go full Bobby Bonilla to get him.

  22. I could see him ready to be a bullpen arm/reliever. Could buy time for Small to get into form, or I always saw moving him to the pen as a way to rocket him to the majors that much faster.
  23. With the Rule 5 lists final for this season... is there anyone the Crew should think about grabbing? Here are a few who are intriguing: Malcolm Nunez, 3B/1B, Pirates - https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=nunez-002mal RHP Thad Ward, Red Sox - https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=ward--000tha LHP Erik Miller, Phillies - https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=miller007eri LHP Antione Kelly, Rangers - https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=kelly-000ant IF Tanner Morris, Blue Jays - https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=morris000tan Three options to fill in the bullpen, not to mention a possible UT guy to replace Peterson, and maybe an outside contender for third base.
  24. He added steals and walks. Personally, I like the idea of including net stolen bases (SB-CS), but do question the inclusion of walks.
