  1. Cooper Hummel showing 2019 was no fluke - so far.
  2. QTC and Clayton Andrews, to be honest. Both looked good prior to 2020.
  3. Did Brice Turang REALLY hit a homer????
  4. Urias looks like he's breaking out a bit. And Adames... looks like he'll be worth the price if Rasmussen settles into a solid role.
  5. Did Kannapolis run out of baby seals after seven innings?
  6. Same here. It never hurts when you can flip for a lottery ticket or two. I liked that about the Adam Lind trade way back then. It's good now for McKinney.
  7. Both the home/road splits and the fact Adames is still pretty young indicate we could see some really awesome performance here. One other item - the one-year park factors for Tropicana Field in 2020, 2019, and 2018: 2020: 92 batting, 91 pitching 2019: 96 batting, 95 pitching 2018: 99 batting, 98 pitching For Milwaukee: 2020: 102/102 2019: 102/101 2018: 101/100 I expect Adames will see some significant improvement between the park factors, the home/road splits, and the fact he is going to be close to his prime.
  8. Hummel was injured? What sort of injury?
  9. Probably due to the minor-league realignment. Would have liked to see a second AZL team, and I liked the idea of the R+ leagues.
  10. I think the way teams will combat the pitcher trackman era is with line drive hitters without extreme uppercuts, so we’re on the same page. I’d love a Cirillo, Overbay, Loretta, Mueller, etc type. I was hoping that Keston Hiura would be the one of those. Cooper Hummel, in an interview, seemed to be expressing a similar approach. For me, the ideal type is the guy who draws a lot of walks and has an above-average hit for contact tool. I'm not interested in homers. Folks who could also reliably steal bases would be good, too. Think the "fundamentals" from before the Moneyball era. Manufacture a run - even if that suicide squeeze means your batter is out. Execute the hit-and-run on a consistent basis. Shaw's OPS may be low, but he's driven runners in consistently.
  11. For me, the bats I want to look for are Jeff Cirillo/Jon Lucroy/Lyle Overbay/Nori Aoki types. Legit bats, but more the high-contact, all-fields, type, not so much the 3TO/power type.
  12. There is quite a difference between leading 14-0 and facing a position player pitcher and leading 8-2. One of my daughters sent me something from somebody on Twitter saying Yelich was classless for swinging 3-0 with a 6 run lead. The poster had a Cubs logo by his name. Any doubt that this guy would be having orgasms of ecstasy if one of his Cubbies did the same thing. Especially when that hitter is trying to find his stroke after a month on the IL. That poster would probably not even have the guts to pitch to Yelich. He'd just intentionally walk him.
  13. Urias was actually looking like a step up from Arcia in one big way: - He walks a lot more. 20 BB in 123 AB this year - 58 walks to 495 ABs career - This year, we're also seeing Urias show a power surge. In 123 ABs, he has a career-high 5 HR. He had 4 HR in 215 ABs in 2019. Honestly, Shaw/Adames/Wong/Hiura with Urias/Vogelbach as the backups are not bad, if Hiura and Adames rebound. And all we gotta do is get Yelich back to 20181/2019 form, where pitching to him was like kicking to Devin Hester... enjoyable for fans of one team, and a moment of dread for everyone else.
  14. It’s sort of similar to the Yelich acquisition from the standpoint it appeared likely the previous home park had held back some of his production. Very true. I like Adames, I think he will make the team better by shifting Urias to a LH platoon bat at third and as a backup 2B/SS. Honestly, I'd have dealt for him a lot sooner, before it cost us Rasmussen, who I think could be a right-handed Hader. Richards is probably headed for the pen - and maybe the Crew think it's possible to make him a devastatingly good relief option. there are other pitchers forcing their way up as well.
  15. Man... Rasmussen was someone I had pegged as a right-handed Hader. But Adames was someone I'd have traded for, too. He's flashed power, and prior to this season, he's posted good OPS totals, including in 2020. Losing Rasmussen stinks, but Adames is a good pickup, and could allow Urias to get his head on straight at AAA.
  16. I've had Fry as a top prospect for his bat and versatility.
  17. In a vacuum, I'd say 2021. Why? Let's go back to the 2014-2015 Royals. AL Pennant and World Series title with a similar setup. Defense and a dominating bullpen were just enough that year. The big difference: They didn't have a Woodruff-Burnes-Peralta trio in their rotation. That being said, it's not a vacuum. It really depends on the teams that the Brewers will face in the playoffs/World Series.
  18. I'm encouraged by the doubles. If Hiura can not try to loft everything, and just concentrate on getting good wood on the ball... he'll be back to the 2019 form in no time.
  19. I think that is the longest home run to LF in a game with the longest being 480 ft by Branyan to RF. What about the one Branyan hit off the scoreboard during an Opening Day - I think - game?
  20. Okay, so that question answered. By how much does he blow away Jansen's record? I say he gets to 60 Ks before a walk.
  21. Yeah. Kind of a shame. Would have loved him to get that one last run in front of the fans... Not to mention he'd have been a decent option as a platoon partner for Shaw, given his career OPS of .980ish against southpaws...
  22. Are walks a command issue or a control issue? And, afraid I'll sound stupid, what is the difference between command and control?
  23. If it is Price is Right rules you didn't leave much room to win. You would have May 20 and nothing else, if before you go over. You got me there. I bid $1 or May 11. June 30.
  24. So, he's got a very big family health crisis on his mind. Can explain the struggles. Didn't Travis Shaw's daughter have health problems in 2019, when he dropped off a cliff offensively? I also remember Jean Segura struggled the year he had a VERY sick child, too. Such things can really impact people's performance. They can be really consuming mentally and emotionally.
