From what I've always read, he's a big hit in the clubhouse. Several Pirates players were publicly upset when the Pirates traded him, and I remember reading he was a force of life in the Nationals clubhouse as well. He's quirky for sure, but you kinda have to admire a guy who is just so much enjoying playing the game of baseball, and working hard out there to boot.

Axford wasn't in the stadium, and I assume Roenicke was hoping to get a 3 inning save out of Estrada, which wouldn't have been a bad plan.

Some late reports from the game; It wasn't a standing O, but he did get very nice applause, both when they announced the lineups and even more when he came to bat for the first time, and no booing that I could make out. I was kind of hoping he would get taken out in the middle of an inning to see if they crowd would give him a good send off too. The humidity really changed the game last night I think. I'm not one to be fooled into thinking everything is a home run, but last night there were probably 3 or 4 balls that looked and sounded like homers off the bat, that died in the outfield. Even Beltran's near homer looked like it was going to be a moon shot at first. In general I think there has been an uptick in the crowd thinking anything in the air is going out, but last night wasn't a fair judgement.

He did get a high brush back on his next at-bat; http://www.tv3winchester....s_Pitcher_123362703.html

We miss Gee, who I initially thought we were going to face on Thursday, so I'm full on the optimism side.

I'll be there tonight and won't be booing Cappy. I'm sure he'll get a good return.

I'm thinking the pitcher may have been jawing at him, likely for standing in the box, as he rounded third, but you can't really tell. But that was my read.

People always talks about how easy a bunt "should" be. Ironically, it's usually after a failed bunt attempts. Bunt attempts fail fairly often so apparently it simply isn't as automatic as some suggest. Except he didn't say bunts are easy, he said in his opinion, a bunt should be easier to get down than getting a sac fly. That's not the same thing as saying bunts are automatic. And I agree, watching the replay, there is no way they turn two there. Yes, in a different scenario sure, but on how that one played out, no. All the infielders were breaking in on the ball, they'd probably have a hard time getting the out at second the way they played it.
