I will be in Iowa tomorrow. If I get a chance before I leave tonight, I'll set up an IGT for tomorrow as well, but if I don't someone hop on it! I should be able to make one for Sunday. Have a good weekend all. -

No, but they would have Roy Halladay batting forth. Not quite the protection Pujols was looking for I doubt.

Wallace will face the Braun problem of his defense at 3B. He's a great bat, with questionable defense, though better than Braun's. He'll lose some value if he can't stick it out at third. But, even if Wallace doesn't pan out, I'm almost more surprised they're putting both Wallace and Mortensen into the same package for a rental.

It's also safe to believe Holliday will be sampling the FA drinking waters this off season. Maybe he still chooses the Cards in the end, but he will certainly be listening to all the offeres. It was well published he was playing for a FA contract this year.

I'm kind of excited that they're willing to trade away Wallace for a rental player. That's good for us long term anyway, not so much this season.

Watching it happen to my team is one thing, I left the Chris Young game last year because I couldn't bear watching it. But aside from that, I think it's amazing. Heck, I was at the game when A-Rod hit the walk-off grand slam, the first weekend of the season two seasons ago, and I was just as jubilant as everyone else, despite my disdain for the Yankees. In my opinion, these are the moments you watch sports for, these spectacular moments, regardless of if they're your team or not. Those moments are reward for putting so much into it. -

Wasn't it Kapler who stopped Young's perfect game against us, with a homer in the 9th, last year? That's pretty crazy itself. Edit: It was Kapler, but he did it with 2 outs in the 8th. -
The hilarious thing about this trade is there is a poster at St. Louis Today that said he was friends with team members of the Cards who told him this deal was in place last night, and there were multiple threads and posts assaulting him earlier today.

I'm certainly discouraged, but I know the Cardinals and Cubs boards mostly like to think their season is over too. Everyone can't throw in the towel. I haven't checked out any Astros forums, maybe they think they'll take it. As for low point, sure to this point of the season, though, I'm also reserving the official low-point of the season term in case we embarrass ourselves against the Nationals. I can't advocate mortgaging so much on Halladay, but I wouldn't mind seeing what it was take to get Lee. That at least goes a long way to helping us out next season if nothing else.

Ya, the pitching is what it is, we knew what we had when the season started. But the offense has been far too streaky and completely vacant, even for an offense we know is streaky when the season started.
