  1. Helms was used to save players for possible use in the field. When you're third on the depth chart everywhere you PH first.
  2. If Clayton was one of the best Milwaukee short stops....
  3. Yep, the message is that the manager can do really stupid things and not be held responsible by anyone.
  4. Well I do think if nothing else we found a new nickname: Ned "Aggresive Failure" Yost
  5. Except Yost went with the option that gives him the lowest chance of sucess. Magruder "hits".195 from the left side. Miller is around .250 and Helms is around .250 as well against right handers.
  6. You mean it was lost when Ned used up an out with 9 left when Davis batted? Or when he used one when he had Magruder bat?
  7. Santana doesn't stink. He does give up HRs. Dunn hits HRs.
  8. Why was Miller not hitting? Magruder cannot hit left handed. And Moeller was already pulled so Miller has to come in. So Yost burns through an extra player for Magruder to pinch hit and he's the worse option.
  9. My point was Yost pulled Eveland after two hits. Doesn't it seem like if he was going to start he'd be allowed to at least try to get out of it.
  10. Don't think we'll see Eveland starting anytime soon.
  11. Well I think we now have definitive proof. No Branyan no win.
  12. Well the Reds are also have the second best offense in the NL.
  13. On TV they shouwed a guy in a cheesehead who was about to pass out from the heat. Bill said that before the game he was over at teh Brewer dugout trying to get autographs.
  14. So AJAY you're saying you weren't in the cheesehead?
  15. He was facing a lineup with 2 HoF level hitters and Larry Walker. He gave up three runs. If he gave up three to the 27 Yankees you would say its his fault the team didn't score to support him.
  16. Again, Yost could have put in Miller for Magruder and still had Jenkins face Isie in the 9th (and have Jenkins in the field). But he didn't.
  17. As evidence for LaRussa overplaying platoon advantage: So Taguchi comes into bat.
  18. Of course if Yost was worried about King against Jenkins, he still has Miller who you know hits righty. And he isn't pathetic which is Magruder batting LH. Its like that day at the All Star game got Yost to overplay platoon advantage as much as LaRussa does.
  19. Yeah Sheets had two Abs. Thats two chances at HRs! If he did that then he would have TEH WIN!!!11!!!!!!!
  20. I mean he only k'd 7 in 6 innings. He should've had 18 ks. And 3 BBs instead of 0 since he'd walk Puljos every time up. EDIT:AJAY in the cheesehead?
  21. Hey, don't worry. Bill will soon tell us what a good defensive catcher Moeller is.
  22. Except that you only increase you chance of scoring by 3% on average. Apparently it is easier to ignore the facts than realize bunting almost never makes sense.
  23. bj you're looking at wrong columns: expected runs man on 2nd no outs--1.13 expected runs mon 3rd one out--0.96 You're prbbability of scoring at least one run increases, but by very little (from .633 to .667). So since on average you noly have a three percent increase in scoring you need to look at who is hitting carefully.
  24. Bill didn't call for Puljos to be walked. What happened?
