    Vaughn is cheap at $9 million for a guy who would be a reasonable starter at 1B or DH. It is important to note that Yelich's playoffs are overshadowing his bad year. In many ways, Vaughn as a full time DH with Yelich getting occasional playing time would be better. Yelich may also hit a cliff this upcoming season. He had a barely playable at DH wRC+ of 99 versus RH pitching. The risk of Yelich just not having it anymore plus his ongoing health concerns means you want depth here. I'm as big a supporter of Adams as anyone and miffed he didn't get into the top 5 minor league hitters on this website. A wRC+ of 149 in AAA is very, very good. However, his inability to stay healthy is an issue. He has not had a full season of PAs in either 2025 or 2026. Hard to rely on him to be depth until he can show he is available. Burke was lost in AAA and needs to prove himself there. Similarly Fisher is another high K guy who should at least show he can handle AAA pitching before being promoted. The Brewers track record with high K prospects is not great. Would you move on from Vaughn if you were expecting to win 75 games giving minor league depth? Easily. But when you are going for 95+ wins, depth is important.

    It is exactly how they handled Pratt and Lara. Pratt had 261 PAs in AAA and Lara had 346 PAs.

    1. The offseason can end up being very short. Short as in 3 weeks from signing the labor agreement to opening day. That makes very little time to get players in and going. This is likely a large factor in changing catchers and pitchers. The less turnover you have to deal with getting ready for a condensed season the likely better off you are. 2. Megill likely would only bring back a Cameron Crow type. He will only have about $7-8 million in excess value which is a 40+ grade prospect. Not something that will change much of anything. 3. The short time frame makes moving on from Contreras next year also difficult since the currently signed catchers are not viable (Naylor) or ready (Quero, Dinges). This also might mean Sanchez might be brought back. 4. The Brewers will hopefully be done paying Woodruff to not pitch freeing up a bit of money. 5. Given the short turn around I also don't see other larger trades getting done. I could be wrong but I feel teams will be scrambling to get FA deals done in a very short period of time that trades may languish.

    Patrick was almost certainly being saved for blow outs and extra innings for length. Harrison not even getting an inning to face Dodger left handers at some point is telling.

    Only reason to keep it Ashby is to avoid De Paula which I get but getting past 30 pitches is dangerous.

    No that doesn't matter. That's just the Brewers saying Bauers wasn't good enough to guarantee a roster spot to (so yes the Brewers weren't that high on Bauers at that point). Service time is all that matters for free agency.

    Likely wants Uribe for the middle bats here, Ashby for 7 and 8 and Megill for the 9th. Not sure that plan is best but there is some sense there.

    It is a factor because you don't want to over-expose your bullpen. You don't want the Dodgers to see Ashby mutliple games in a row for example.

    Most of Woodruff's experience is spending times in different trainer's rooms and rehabbing.

    Another 5th inning where Matsui was brought in to face Turang with men on base and would have had to face Vaughn pinch hitting and another time where the Brewers say, nah we're good.

    Yep part of the reason he looks so bad. Swear half his ABs have been against Matsui who dominates LHB.

    Right handers hit wOBA .320 vs Matsui and LHers wOBA.218. Somehow we keep feeding him left handed hitters.

    Umps have the same issue batters have with the sun but with much older eyes and less training. Late afternoon starts just shouldn't happen.

    You'd like the LHP versus Mitchell (who is fine in general vs LHP but take the advantage) and then Lara and Ortiz aren't scary.

    Know people are not going to like this, but Uribe got both Tatis and Machado to chase. They got hits on balls far out of the hitting zone. The HBP was bad yes, but most times he would have gotten out of that inning fine.

    100 mph with a negative launch angle is an out most of the time.
