    Jenkins is not Piazza. Piazza can't run. You need to get to extra innings before anything else. Howe took advantage when he had the chance.

    Helm's career ISO is .178. Ginter's ISO is .186. Ginter has more power. EDIT: The point is that Counsell has more innings at 2B and 3B than the number of games implied says. For eample Counsell played 26 games at SS last year. Normally that would be about 234 innings. Counsell only played 167. He was brought in for a few innings and replaced often. And so comparing errors to games played is highly misleading.

    Well your stats ignore the number of innings Counsell played those positions. He played many more innings at 2B and 3B than at SS.

    Yeah, better to keep Helms' poor defense at 3rd while getting his 271 OPB! Who knows, we might get his career OPB of 307! I'd move Counsell to 3B mostly because the team needs to see Hall at SS and he has most likely practiced more exchanges with Ginter at 2B than Counsell, but in the end either Ginter or Counsell at 3B would work.

    You do realize that Counsell is not a SS and is in fact a 2B/3B? And the Hall is really a 2B? So the person who sits is Helms while Counsell, Ginter and Hall play.

    Yeah good job Yost did of trying to give Adrian the win while coming close to costing the team the game. That's smart managing!

    The problem isn't so much only 4 good relievers since most teams don't have many more than that. Its more that starters are so bad that each one leaves 3 to 4 innings needing to be covered each night . Add to that having to have two of your starters only expected to go up to 5 and need long back up and Melvin may have found a team that really could use a 13 member staff.

    I'm not asking Yost to bring in his closer. But he should be able to do more with Vizcaino or Brooks. Or is that too earth shattering?

    Saving a pitcher for a hypothetical is like not pintch hitting for your catcher because your back up may get injured. You know what the current situation is. If you fail now, it won't matter what happens in three innings.

    Kolb is supposedly available. Brooks was warming up. So go with Vizcaino and start Kinney the next inning.

    Helms was punished by being benched. Hall is rewarded for being good with a few off days. See, entirely different.
