    Totally get Vaughn pinch hitting, but wouldn't hate Hamilton staying to avoid the DP and maybe even a safety squeeze.

    When I was little, my family went to a game with another family and sat directly next to the Brewers dugout, to the right. It was so close and so casual that my mom talked to Charlie Moore a few times. He eventually gave a baseball to a kid in the other family, and we're convinced that he thought that was my mom's kid. Also, a few years later, we floated next to him on the lazy river at Noah's Ark.

    I assume they will weather the storm, be fine in the long run, and make the playoffs (regardless of the division result), but yeah, it's got to be demoralizing to have two 10-game winning streaks this early and not be in first place.

    It's pretty easy to understand. His glove at an extremely important position is fantastic. The bigger problem is that the hitters around him are also bad. You can deal with one poor hitter in the lineup if he makes up for a bunch of it in the field, but three or four is tough.

    It's amazing how much he learned to pitch in the offseason. Last year, he was basically just throwing. Now he's harnessed it. Plus, now he looks extremely comfortable being in the bigs and he KNOWS his stuff dominates hitters.

    Ortiz looks like he is slow at identifying pitches and making swing decisions. Seems like he's swinging late on everything, completely whiffing hittable pitches just because he's slow to get the bat off his shoulder.

    I was listening a week or so ago and they had that ad. It was after the Brewers had a good inning - I think against the Padres - and one of the announcers said something like, "The Padres are going to need to call North Shore Adult Diapers after that inning."
