  1. A couple of ideas on the starting rotation. Of course, this assumes the starters pitch relatively well and don't have to be pulled after an inning or two: Plan A - Mostly normal starting rotation on regular rest Game 1: Priester, Game 2: Peralta, Game 3: Quintana, Game 4: Miz, Game 5: Priester, Game 6: Peralta, Game 7: Kitchen Sink Went with Miz as the fourth starter over Patrick because Patrick has shown he can come out of the pen a whole bunch without a problem. Miz seems like more of an "every few days, more innings" guy. Plan B - Bullpen games Game 1: Priester, Game 2: Bullpen, Game 3: Peralta, Game 4: Quintana, Game 5: Bullpen, Game 6: Priester, Game 7: Freddy/Kitchen Sink Can do a couple of scheduled bullpen games because they come before off days. Downside here is that you only get two Freddy starts if the series goes seven. Priester gets both of his starts at home. Obviously, you would have Plan C and Plan D, plus branches under Plan A and Plan B, to adjust for different scenarios. Could also employ openers in some games if there appears to be a distinct matchup advantage in doing so.
  2. I watched most of the game on my phone with no sound at my son's marching band competition. The moment the band was announced as the winner of their division, Turang hit the homer. Talk about having something to cheer for!
  3. Bold prediction: Ortiz comes up with a huge hit. I haven't decided if it's going to be a bases-loaded single in the mid-innings or walk-off homer in the 9th.
  4. The older I get, the less I care about all the drama and hating other teams, etc. I just want to enjoy watching my team. Also, regardless of what happens, at least we're not Phillies fans right now.
  5. And hey, if we can score something like 8 runs, we probably don't need to worry about who pitches.
  6. Start our ace, all-star pitcher on regular rest. Pretty simple. If it goes to a Game 5, now you can throw everybody you need to at home. I see zero reason to save Peralta for a possible Game 5. He's one of the best pitchers in the league - let's end it tonight.
  7. Chhourio is going to obliterate his hammy trying to score.
  8. Honest question, not a criticism: why is Lockridge starting?
  9. After that catch in left field, I thought it looked like he hopped a couple times, like it bothered him, though it could have just been him hopping. He was definitely limping after that ground ball when he headed to second.
  10. I never talk trash, but I'm certainly not talking trash or basking in the schadenfruede until the Brewers actually win the series.
  11. I would have said you were just inventing names.
  12. In the meantime, we get to enjoy the best team in Brewers history playing in the postseason with a 2-0 lead on the Cubs.
  13. I mean, look at the other side of it. Counsell started Turner at leadoff, he went 1-2, and the Cubs got out to a 3-run lead. Smart move that worked out well! But they lost the game.
  14. Well, yeah, if players don't play well, then the decisions the manager makes don't work out. I don't think the bullpen game was some "master class" move, but it essentially worked out the way Murphy intended it. Only allowed three runs total, got the relievers work, and won the game. I try not to be a "results-oriented" thinker (though I certainly stray a lot). I don't see Ashby's struggles as a failure in managerial strategy - he just had a rough couple innings. There was no reason to expect he'd be bad, as he's been fantastic all year and just pitched great the other day. The bullpen game was fantastic the rest of the way and pitcher usage likely wasn't much different than it would have been had Ashby pitched well. So instead of spreading three runs across nine innings, it was three runs in one inning (yes, I understand that scoring in bulk early can change psyche and strategy). And hell, had the ump been decent, Ashby probably doesn't walk the guy in the first inning and gets out of there unscathed. The part I question about the pitching decision was that had Priester pitched, he'd then be available to start Game 5 on regular rest. But now hopefully we won't need that.
  15. It's only fair when the Brewers are going to win in three, also.
  16. It's crazy how bad of a hitter PCA is right now. As soon as you get two strikes on him, just bounce one and he'll swing. Excellent center fielder, though. That catch he made in the gap was tough and he made it look so easy. I'm sure he'll figure it out at the plate - he was too good in the first half not to still have that in him. Just needs plate discipline (I say "just" like it's simple).
  17. My son uses Space Mutiny MST3K names for most of his online gaming screen names.
  18. I feel pretty good.
  19. Brewers have scored 16 runs in two games, but the former Brewers starters have stymied them.
  20. Happy dirt pounding.
  21. Thanks for the warning. Definitely don't want to see that.
  22. Chourio is definitely gimpy.
  23. Miz's off speed stuff was on point that inning.
