  1. I just got an e-mail saying that Tapatalk is now available for the dozens of Windows Phone users out there.

  6. ^^ This is it. If you want a parallel situation, look at Kyle Lohse and the Cardinals this past winter rather than K-Rod a couple of years ago.
  7. This should be working now. Let me know if it isn't. There's a new push notification feature that isn't yet installed. There may be a burp while that's being done.
  8. Thanks for the heads up. We can take care of that.
  9. I think we can be certain that it's happened. This kind of situation isn't that unusual. If the first reliever gets the team out of a jam, he's probably positioned pretty well for the win unless you have a pretty wild game. If the starter leaves due to injury and there's no jam, things would be pretty wide open.
  10. The official scorer determines the winning pitcher based on who was most effective. See MLB Rule 10.17. I added the bold.
  11. Would you have made that same comment had he gone 1 1/3 and given up 6 runs? Except for "He did that and more," I bet he would have. Actually expecting 4 2/3 scoreless innings would have been unrealistic, of course. But expecting him to give up 6 runs in 1 2/3 innings would have been equally unrealistic.
  12. Another issue is when the vendor does the stocking rather than store employees. Not too long ago, I found some mayonnaise in Pick 'n Save that was six months past the expiration date. The manager said that the vendor stocked it that morning.
  13. I guess you have to check expiration dates everywhere. Part of the problem at Pick 'n Save is that they don't bother to rotate stock… unless it's milk, which is rotated automatically because it's stocked from the back. In addition to relentlessly checking, I've take to writing the expiration date on the product with a Sharpie marker once it gets home. That saves time in the long run because the date is hard to find or hard to read (or both) on so many products.
  14. Pick 'n Save sells expired food. Walmart sells expired food. My dad tends to forget to check dates when he shops. It's much easier to deal with this in the store than after the food has gotten home.
  15. I think the "Braun called up thread" is probably gone unless it has a bump that I'm not seeing. That would have happened way back when we were still on ezBoard, and they used to prune old topics (at 400 per forum, I believe). The oldest topics in the Major Leagues forum are from mid-June, 2007.
  16. Thanks for looking into this. I'd bet that the topic I linked to was fixed by whatever you did. Good point about hovering over the various links to determine the nature of the issue. And yes, members can always use the report feature.
  17. TooLive ran into trouble with deletions of duplicates in Link Report for Thurs. 5/23 a little after 4 PM CDT (GMT-6) on May 24. There were some deletions in that topic earlier that day that didn't seem to cause issues. The thread looks better now; it's currently two pages, but it used to run into a third. When I look at the moderator log, I don't see any significant attempts at deletions after TooLive ran into the bizarre issues.
  18. I've never been able to correlate weirdness to whether or not the board is busy, but TooLive first pointed out the strange duplicate issue to me while the search was being worked on. What was really strange was that the duplicate posts were actually on different pages of the topic.
  19. It's either arrogance or ignorance. I've stopped carrying my phone a lot of the time, and when I do have it, it tends to be off unless I'm expecting a call. Back to idiot broadcasters, the other night, the channel 6 sports anchor reporting on the Brewers game said that the team had a "rare lead." Even historically bad teams routinely lead in games, and if you consider the definition of routine, they even win somewhat routinely.
  20. It's actually been going on forever, but maybe it's gotten worse recently. I think the server burps, and in some cases people don't see their message and post again (either intentionally or unintentionally). It'd be nice to get to the bottom of this, but I'm not sure exactly where to start. Work on the search ended almost two weeks ago, so that's not likely to be a factor.
  21. Contrary to what WTMJ's Jodi Becker reported in a story today, Monroe isn't "tiny." I don't know if she said that because she didn't check her facts or because she thought making up that tidbit would make her story more interesting. The end result is that even though this seems somewhat trivial, I'm less likely to trust what she has to say in the future. Moving right along, I just came back from dinner. The guy at the table behind me was absolutely yelling into his cell phone over the course of what must have been a five to seven minute conversation. I could hear a woman at the table whispering "go outside," but he didn't take her up on that advice. He did put the call on speakerphone, though.
  22. I've heard the story, but I forgot. Methinks his username might have something to do with it.
