  1. Here's Joe Sheehan's website if you're interested in subscribing: http://www.joesheehan.com/
  2. Apple's Remote app for controlling an Apple TV or iTunes on a Mac is cool. There's bit of a learning curve, though.
  3. It wasn't intense, but we knew it was there. That's what I'm thinking. Being aware that there's smoke isn't the same as being affected by it.
  4. Unless a moderator says a topic is off limits (which doesn't happen very often), you can certainly try again with a new topic. A manager topic is definitely appropriate.
  5. Congratulations! Certainly worth the bump.
  6. No graphics today. Any help with lineups and links would be appreciated.
  7. jj doesn't really mention the distance from the porch or the relative location of the houses, but he does state "I don't know how (smelling the smoke) is really possible given where our houses are located and where people smoke." It sure doesn't sound like people in his household are smoking right by the neighbor's window or anything like that. Certainly, people don't want to inhale second hand smoke, have their eyes burn, have their clothes smell, have their furniture smell, etc. That's totally reasonable. I don't want to experience that either. This doesn't sound like this is a situation where any of that is going to happen.
  8. I haven't been in the chat room for a while, but there were people there the last time I stopped in. If I remember correctly, chat is compatible with mobile devices with the caveat that Flash is necessary for sound.
  9. Don't commit to going down the block. It'd be tough to undo that decision if you later decided it was an unreasonable request. Plus you could end up "annoying" someone else.
  10. The Dr. Dawg restaurant in Greenfield has only two accessible parking spaces.
  11. First things first: Log into Gmail in your web browser, choose "Settings" from the "gear" dropdown, hit the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" link near the top of the page, and make sure POP is enabled. You can enable POP in the second group of settings on the page. I don't have an Android device, but it appears that you know where to find the option to keep mail on the server. If POP is properly set up, I would think that within your phone's Gmail account settings, you'd find it in the same place that you're finding it for Hotmail. If things aren't working at this point, rather than attempting to change your current IMAP account to POP, you might have better luck setting up a POP account from scratch, then deleting the IMAP account from your phone once all is said and done. As an aside on this, I use Gmail IMAP on both my Mac and iPad, but I reserve labels for archiving by excluding them from IMAP. That keeps my iPad relatively clean. Archiving is a bit more work, though. For mails I want to keep, I make sure that they're assigned a label that's excluded from IMAP while also copying them to a local folder in OS X Mail on my Mac.
  12. I've been watching the games, and I must not be paying much attention because I've never noticed the "Fox Girls." Maybe I'm that good at tuning out commercial breaks. Are these the women whose spots have them say stuff like "You're watching the Brewers on Fox Sports Wisconsin"? If so, that's pretty innocuous, unless some spots go beyond that in a way that could be deemed inappropriate. However, the website is another matter. Borrowing a word from the Florida Fox Sports Girls article, the website makes them out to be "mascots." As an aside, the website asks these women if they prefer a "MAC" or PC? In all uppercase, MAC stands for "media access control" and refers to computer network addresses. The computer is spelled "Mac," with the second two letters in lowercase. As far as Sophia goes, I consider her to be "just there." She's a body that can be located where she's needed and a mouth to report a few things or ask some questions. I don't see her really bringing a particular talent to the table, but she doesn't turn me off like an Ann Carroll or a Bob Brainerd.
  13. Perry's "cheating" was kind of a legend, and for whatever reason, players and fans had fun with it. While I don't agree with the main idea of the article, I think the quality is excellent.
  14. This was passed on to me recently. Huntsville Stars 10th Man Club It's at our old home, so most of you would already have logins. I've added the link to the "Minors and Independents" section of our Fan Sites, Newspaper Links, & Resources topic.
  15. I've added the Huntsville Stars 10th Man Club to the "Minors and Independents" section in the lead.
  16. My guess is that Apple doesn't offer Stocks on the iPad because it's written for the iPhone and they feel that it would offer an inferior experience on a tablet. I agree that an iPad version be a nice addition, though.
  17. Most of Pangea Software’s iPhone & iPad games are free today. I don't know how long this will last. See this page: http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/pangea-softwares-iphone-ipad-games-free-for-a-day then follow the link in the first paragraph of the article. The link should take you right into iTunes or the App Store, depending on whether you're using a computer or an iOS device. I don't play a lot of games, and I don't know if these games will appeal to me. But I like free stuff that otherwise costs money. I'm downloading these through iTunes on my Mac so I can evaluate them later. Another option would be to download to your iOS device, then delete them if you have storage issues. Once you've "purchased" them, they can be re-downloaded later at no charge.
  18. You're not using the direct URL of the image. Rather, you're using the URL of the page containing the image. You can right click on the image and choose "View Image" (or your browser's equivalent). That'll bring up the image by itself, and you can copy the URL from the address bar. Or, when right-clicking, you can choose "Copy Image Location" (or your browser's equivalent). This code works: [img=http://gifrific.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Sean-Connery-Fist-Pump-US-Open.gif]
  19. Animated GIFs are images. Stick the URL to the GIF between [img][/img] tags.
  20. Thanks. I'll edit it. It's OWI (Operating While Impaired) in Wisconsin. I think that "operating" means that you don't necessarily have to be driving the vehicle to be charged and convicted. Putting the keys in the ignition and starting the car would be sufficient. I've read pages 1–5 and the last page, and I've seen some interesting and educational comments in this topic, especially from Nottso and JackNicholson1974. I've also seen some forgettable ones. One thing I haven't seen mentioned within those pages (and I apologize if it's been mentioned in the portion of the topic I haven't gotten to yet) is that there really isn't a "legal limit" in this state. Drivers can be convicted of OWI for blood alcohol levels below .08 when it can be demonstrated that they're sufficiently impaired.
  21. How has he been pronouncing it? Jagwires.
  22. That moron who can't pronounce "Jaguars" was on WTMJ again the other night. His boss needs to correct that; it's embarrassing to the station. Even better, someone should call in and correct him on the air.
  23. In a blowout, you can stop bunting, eliminate the hit and run, eliminate steals, and eliminate any attempts to take an extra base (e.g. attempting to stretch a double into a triple). In other words, you can cut out any smallball and any extra aggressiveness. You can't stop solid contact, and you can't forgo the "typical" outcome of putting a ball in play.
  24. More and more often, I encounter restaurant hosts who seem to make it a race to take guests to their tables. By the time they reach the table, we can be 15 or more paces apart. This happens whether or not there's a line waiting to be seated.
