  1. Heck, I'd ask him for moving expenses, whatever rent you'd be paying through May, and the assurance that you'd be getting your security deposit back. Unless the Tenant Resource Center tells you something completely unforeseen, I'd think that you're in the driver's seat.
  2. This does not seem to be the case though as he is not moving in until next May… The way I read this topic, the new owner is looking to move in soon after GoudaBrew would hopefully leave in September. Gouda states, "Except he's not planning on moving in May 1st, 2013."
  3. I'm hoping to do something about this late in the week. As I mentioned, I want to be able to commit to being around for a couple of days in case there are issues. Also, there are a couple of server issues that I'd like to see cleaned up before installing something new. These issues are being worked on right now.
  4. I just got an e-mail saying that those channels are back.
  5. The number Trenni stated was $112 million.
  6. They got around it because WISN was the one pulling the plug. Time Warner is required to carry the station if WISN wants to provide it.
  7. This is just plain bad. I-794 narrows from three lanes to one in an incredibly short span. This looks like it was bad even before the design was changed. You can click on the image below for a larger version. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/794interchange500.jpg (Photo courtesy of WTMJ-TV) Ideally, 794 would be reduced from three lanes to two further east. Both freeways should merge with two full lanes. A reduction from four lanes to three should occur at some point further west. Before the change, approaches from both 794 and 43-94 had issues. After the change, the 43-94 approach appears to be OK, but the 794 approach has become terrible. The original design was lacking, but the so-called fix is just plain poor — much worse than what was lacking in the original design. As far as alternate routes go, they're always going to come in handy. No downtown freeway is ever going to completely avoid traffic stoppages. But this is crazy.
  8. It sounds like the freeway problem was twofold: Interstate 43-94 traffic entering the East-West Freeway was forced to condense to one lane, causing lines. People would leave the line and use the distress lane to get to the 25th Street ramp. The issue didn't really involve I-794 traffic trying to cross lanes to exit at 25th Street. Both before and after the change, if I-794 drivers wish to exit there, they have about 4 short blocks to make the lane changes. That might be possible in very light traffic, but under most circumstances, they should plan on continuing on to 35th Street. EDIT: If I wanted to avoid the potential bottleneck entering from I-794, I think I'd take St. Paul Avenue west from downtown and enter the freeway from the ramp between 26th and 27th Streets.
  9. That's a really good article. There's a lot to like about it. I'm going to nitpick this one thing: It's almost always cheaper to upgrade with third party RAM. If you're attached to a machine that ships with less than 4GB, I'd check out the cost of buying RAM from a reputable RAM vendor. My tack has generally been to buy a computer with the minimum amount of RAM, then max it out sometime during its lifetime. I've never had a machine with inadequate RAM at the time of purchase, though. There's a major exception, though. In order to provide portability, some computers have their RAM built into the motherboard with no ability for the user to upgrade. In those cases, I'd consider maxing out the RAM right away in order to give the computer a chance at the longest possible useful life.
  10. Do you have a link to the random speculation?
  11. It sounds to me like it's short term pain for long term gain. The caching process, which ultimately results in bandwidth savings, will access the database a lot in the beginning. I'll set this up as soon as I can. I haven't been around the site as much as usual lately. I want to make sure I'm readily available after we kick this in in case there are issues.
  12. Yeah, it would make sense to want to exit if one had traveled over the Hoan Bridge, but those drivers have Michigan Street, Milwaukee Street, and 35th Street as options. Based on looking at a map, the ramp you mention actually brings traffic from both 43 (from the north) and 94 (from the south). That's a heck of a lot of traffic, probably much more than would be coming from 794. Still, 794 is a wide road, and narrowing it down to one lane is going to cause a bottleneck. The ideal solution probably would have been to make the 94 & 43 ramp merge with the East-West Freeway west of 25th Street. That would have made 25th Street physically inaccessible from 794. I see where the space problem comes into play, though. It may have been that Clybourn would have needed to cease being a through street for that to happen. That would suck.
  13. Where were the people who were trying to get off at 25th Street coming from?
  14. Obviously, the concrete didn't disappear. Where does that old lane go now? People aren't going to understand the zipper unless it's promoted. According to posts here on the board, Minnesota advertised it heavily in the media.
  15. I removed a message that referred to a Brewer reliever as a "p.o.s." Please note the following from Fan Forum Etiquette: Thanks!

  17. Nothing fancy tonight. Any help with lineups or whatever would be appreciated.
  18. I've never seen it, but it'd be interesting if a digital speed feedback sign were followed up by law enforcement a half mile or a mile down the road.
  19. My thought is that Tapatalk is likely the more appropriate choice, too. It's available for a lot of platforms, and just as importantly, I "know" a couple of people who've deployed it on their boards. I guess either one will hit our database hard to begin with as the app would be caching as much as it can. After that initial hump, we should be using less bandwidth than we were previously. A slow time would be a good time for deployment, but slow times are tough to predict on this board. I'm not sure if there's a practical way to beta test or not. It's going to eat bandwidth for a while no matter what. It might be possible to skip the nag screen initially, though, and simply announce its availability to start with. If that's feasible, we can kick in the nag screen once people tell us that it's working well. If it isn't feasible to skip the nag screen, I guess we'd just get it going and hope for the best.
  20. Refurbished devices should be like new. I suppose that this could have happened to a new unit too. Try this for resetting the XBox:
  21. I think that the Braves need more attention than the Brewers. Omissions are egregious, and it's apparent that the voters know little about the players and don't seem willing to research them. A special committee should be set up to deal with the Braves, much like the committee that researched Negro Leaguers for the Hall of Fame a couple of years ago. It can definitely be argued that more Brewers deserve recognition, but at least there's a somewhat logical line in the sand drawn between who's in and who's out.
  22. My dad had to pay for his AT&T modem when he signed up in 2007. At the time, we decided that buying the modem was a better deal than having to pay monthly rental from Time Warner. Even if it had to be replaced once a year, it was still cheaper than Time Warner's rental rate. We replaced it once, by the way. It's available at Best Buy, so you can bypass having to wait for AT&T to send one.
  23. Posting "Brooks K." was pretty common around here. That works.
  24. I'm not sure why, but this discussion reminds me of the time Ann Carroll stared at her sheet of paper before finally saying "J. Barfield."
