1. A WMLW commercial for Brewers broadcasts says, "15 games against the best teams in the National League!" Then it continues with "Watch as the Brewers take on the Pirates!"
2. I just thought I'd take a moment to thank both Jake and Jamie for putting this together for us. I'm sure I'll be taking advantage of this as the season goes on.
3. Ning is shutting down its free networks. My guess is that Yuku will build an importer to bring over any Ning users who'd like to come to Yuku. I'd also guess that this will push back work on the profiles (which might be a good thing) and further push back any work on the boards (a bad thing). I'm making these guesses based on past experience. In early 2009, MSN shut down its groups, and thousands of its members chose to come to Yuku. Pretty much all staff was put on the import task, and existing Yuku members had to patiently wait until all MSN groups were migrated for their issues to be addressed. During the MSN migrations, several servers were overloaded (including Brewerfan's), and we suffered through several weeks of poor performance (e.g. at best, having to reload pages to see new messages and at worst, messages taking an hour to post). If Ning networks are migrated, hopefully history doesn't repeat itself. More servers need to be brought online, and new boards need to be more equitably distributed among the servers. Unfortunately, I think that Yuku thinks it did a good job with the MSN migrations and won't be inclined to adjust its approach. As a reminder... http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y50/KenseidenXL/Smilies/008/JustSayNo-gift.gif
4. One of the statheads could probably offer a better answer, but I believe the NL vs. AL difference is irrelevant in the actual computation of FIP and xFIP. You'd simply expect a somewhat higher FIP/xFIP in the AL just like you'd expect a somewhat higher ERA.
5. Could Melvin make a deal with Davis that we he would DFA him with the contingency that he accept the minor league assignment and then come back to Milwaukee in a month? Is there a union rule against that type of handshake agreement? The rules basically cover such a scenario. Davis would have to clear waivers to be sent down. Because of his service time, he would have the right to refuse a minor league assignment. The one month thing is the only aspect that would have to be agreed upon; the Brewers would simply have to promise bring him back or release him at that point. The union wouldn't have an issue with that.
6. "Buttocks" is plural, Bill. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
7. What's Marquis' ERA for the year now? Marquis = 20.52 Batista (thus far) = 11.05

9. The posts in this topic have been merged into the 2010-04-17 Non-Brewers IGT.
10. There's a current Yuku bug where some replies are posted out of order. Staff is looking for examples so they can check into this. The message that appears first needs to quote a message that appears later. Here are two examples from our board: [+] duh its an 8th inning lead, Hawkins has to pitch AND Got to save 'em for the 11th Quotes don't necessarily have to use the quote feature. In other words, if someone quotes a line of text using italics (or whatever), it's still proof that the replies are out of order. If you find an example and could provide a link along with the reply numbers involved, it'd be appreciated. I'll relay the information to Yuku. In addition to Brewerfan, feel free to report here if you see the issue occur on LambeauLeap, BPS, or any other Yuku board. Thanks! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
11. We should have gotten hawing some credentials. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
12. I was very upset that i was told by an usher that I had to sit down while clapping and standing during the final out. It seems that with the tying run at the plate, fans of both teams would have wanted to be standing and clapping during what turned out to be the final out.
13. This looks like a nice item for the well organized iMac owner. BackPack by Twelve South
14. Nate, would this be the one you're using? RadioShack® Amplified HDTV Antenna This is the one I've been messing with. ClearStream Micron/Micron XG I edited the "RF Channels" into reply #2 above. I wonder if the issue with Channel 10 is that it's VHF while all the others are UHF.
15. nullbyte, you might find some useful information on antennas in the "Antenna for WMLW games?" topic. There are several helpful links in there, including one for constructing your own antenna. I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope for an indoor antenna serving several TVs, but you never know. The one thing that stuck in my mind when was reading about attic antennas is that they could be affected by metal content in the roof. I believe several members here have been happy with them, though. nate82, which antenna do you use? I've messed with two indoor antennas in southern Milwaukee County; I'd say that I've had good--but not excellent--success. Being near a window seems to be a real key; neither set I've tried is near one. Oddly, Channel 10 seems to be the most temperamental. I don't understand that; several other Milwaukee channels are on the same tower, and they're fine. For reference, this appears to be the Milwaukee channel list: Call Sign Channel Network RF Channel WTMJ-DT 4.1 NBC 28 WITI-DT 6.1 FOX 33 WMKE-CA 7 BOX 7 WMVS-DT 10.1 PBS 8 WISN-DT 12.1 ABC 34 WVTV-DT 18.1 CW 18 WCGV-DT 24.1 MNT 25 WVCY-DT 30.1 REL 22 WMVT-DT 36.1 PBS 35 WBWT-LP 38 AZA 38 WBWT-LD 38.1 AZA 31 WMLW-CA 41 IND 41 WBME-DT 49.1 IND 48 WPXE-DT 55.1 ION 40 WDJT-DT 58.1 CBS 46 WYTU-LP 63 TEL 63I don't think you're going to come close to getting Channel 7 and the 38s. (I never heard of them until I saw the list.) WYTU-63 (if you can understand Spanish) is on a digital subchannel of Channel 49. Likewise, WMLW-41 (the important one) is on a subchannel of Channel 58. Channels 49 and 58 should come in just fine.
16. Menotti, I like your shade of pink. Which one did you use?
17. I missed the posts that were hidden so I didn't see what was written... Three posts in this thread were hidden; they all contained cusses. You didn't miss much. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
18. How many 9 year-olds are posting here really? Judging by post content, I'd say there are several, but not a whole lot. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
19. I've just hidden two messages that included cusses. Please note this snippet from FFE's language section:
20. I was able to right-click and use "Save Link As" in Firefox. Once saved, the default application for mp3 on the Mac is iTunes, but QuickTime player was also available when I right-clicked the icon and looked inside the "Open With" submenu. Other browsers and Windows should be similar. Terminology might be mildly different, though.
21. CBS did this for years Would this have been the whole network, or was one affiliate doing this?
22. The System Restore idea my mind. It may pay to boot into Safe Mode, then do the restore. Google searches indicate that it could be possible to set up a bootable CD or DVD to remove the malware, but I'm not finding anything good enough to suggest.
23. I saw a message posted at Support about 10 minutes ago that said to expect about 45 minutes of downtime beginning "shortly." It's to deal with server caching issues. I don't know more than that.
24. Exactly. Syndicated programming is more lucrative than network programming. That's why Milwaukee's Channel 4 dropped The Tonight Show for four years back in the 1980s. And that's why nobody rushed to pick up CBS after it was dropped by Channel 6 back in the 1990s.
