  1. I assume that "11:00 PM EDT" actually means "11:00 PM PDT." For the majority of us, that would be 1:00 AM CDT. Because profiles are connected to boards, I'd guess it's possible that some members might experience trouble logging in, but that posting would be OK if you're already logged in. I kind of like that word "alopogise." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Rather than merging, I locked the old topic and directed discussion to this one. Also, I changed "Link to last page" to "Link to last posts" and changed the URL to one of the posts near the end. The problem with a URL like this - http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=21779?page=8 - is that not everyone sees the same number of replies per page. There was no page 8 in that topic for me. It's better to grab the URL of an individual post: How do I find an individual message's direct URL? No harm no foul, of course. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. I'm closing this topic in favor of the new Hart thread. Corey Hart Love
  4. Yuku has acknowledged this as a bug. I seem to be experiencing a different version of this. If there's a PM in my box, the blue light tends to come on after two or three page loads. I've figured this out from seeing the the e-mail notification before coming to the board. Do you have e-mail notifications turned on? That's the only suggestion I have at this point. To do that... Hit the account link in your navigation barHit Options in the Notifications box (top center)Check/uncheck what you'd like and hit the Submit buttonE-mail notifications drag more than what would seem to be desirable (an hour maybe?), but it beats not knowing at all.
  5. This board is private. I'm really curious to know what it's about or who its members are. http://prisonpals.yuku.com/
  6. I cannot believe that Suppan still has apologists on this board. It's really much more productive to address the message rather than attack the messenger. Even aside from that, I don't see any "apologists." Everyone is acknowledging that this is a bad situation.
  7. By now, it is a given that the four-year, $42 million contract the Brewers gave him in 2007 was a colossal failure. However, it wasn't until midway through last season, Suppan's third with the Brewers, that he stopped getting hitters out. He was 2-8 after June 12 and pitched his way out of the rotation after only two starts this season. "Colossal" probably isn't the right word. If this were a "colossal" failure, Jeff would have stopped getting hitters out during his first season in Milwaukee. I'd leave it at "bad contract." Otherwise, what would you call the Hammonds contract? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Getting to the question at hand, I think Jeff will be out as soon as another move crowds him off the roster. The Brewers are running out of guys to cut and/or stash on the 60-day disabled list. Jeff's turn will be coming. Maybe it'll happen as soon as when Gamel is activated.
  8. Knowing what's on the back of your computer and what's on the back of your TV is the key. I have a computer hooked up to my TV with a DVI to HDMI cable and a 3.5mm stereo cable. The computer happens to have a DVI output, but not HDMI. That makes the sound cable necessary. A lot of computers still have VGA outputs, and a lot of TVs have VGA inputs. You'll still need a sound cable, and the picture won't be as crisp as DVI/HDMI. If your TV is restricted to composite video, s-video, or component-video, you'll need to look into adapters.
  9. Merged into the in-game thread. This discussion starts here: http://brewersfandemonium...wers-w.html#reply-624167
  10. In rush hour, there's always a doofus sitting in the far right lane going straight and blocking a line of cars making right turns, while there's like one other car sitting in the other straight lane. What I hate worse is becoming one of those dufuses because there's unlikely to be time to do a lane change to be able to turn right into the business I want to access just beyond said intersection.
  11. That's actually one of my main annoyances people that will not go around a car that is making a left hand turn. I'm not going to break the law to do it (e.g. driving on a gravel shoulder), and sometimes, there just isn't room to do it. I encounter a lot of places where I can legally get around a car by going to its right, but I can't get around an SUV. Road design needs to accommodate the larger vehicles that people are driving these days. My latest driving annoyance are the digital speed signs that tell you how fast you are going. It's not so much the signs, it's the people who slow down for them. I appreciate the warning. I don't want to be exceeding the speed limit intentionally--at least, not by much. If the speed limit is 35 and I'm going 41 or 42, I'm slowing down. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. I just voted. Brian is currently second.
  13. The game is on Channels 680 and 740 on DirecTV. Channel 58.2 over the air might be a WMLW option for people in southeastern Wisconsin. It's much stronger than the Channel 41 analog and digital channels.
  14. Yuku just pushed an administrative control option that shuts off the "Facebook like" option on boards. I've turned it off here and on LambeauLeap, but I don't know if that'll speed up page loading on boards or not. There's going to be an announcement with more details posted within the next hour. It doesn't look like anything similar has been pushed for profiles.
  15. I just deleted an entire post about each GM, and I'm too irritated to retype the entire thing. Use the preview function... a lot. As long as you preview, if you somehow lose your post, you'll likely be able to get to your previous drafts via the back button or your history.
  16. You're right, and it sucks. We've hidden the icons that are associated with the Facebook stuff as they screw up the navigation bar royally. However, hiding the icons is only cosmetic. The code that's causing the lag still loads; there's nothing we can do about that. Members can hide the Facebook icons in their profiles by following these steps: Hit Account in the new navigation bar or the wrench (spanner) in the new navigation bar. Hit "Edit Customized Skins" in the upper left-hand box. Hit the "edit html" button next to the skin(s) marked "active." Paste ul#ka-facebook-controls * {display:none;}[/i] into the Advanced CSS box. To do this, scroll to the bottom, insert your cursor, and hit enter (return) to create a new line. Paste the code into the new line, and hit the save button. Unfortunately, this only works for unconverted profiles. For converted profiles, there's no means to cover up the buttons. And just like boards, this fix is only cosmetic; it'll make things prettier, but it won't speed up page loading. This is not a popular addition. "I like" / facebook social plugin feedback topic
  17. why are we extending Gamel's service time just to delay a roster decision? Gamel can't be activated/demoted until he's deemed to be recovered. Part of determining that he's recovered would probably involve a few days of rehab play. Nothing would stop him from rehabbing before the 60 days are up--if he's actually ready to rehab before June 3rd.
  18. This was the previous Brewer lineup. Jody Gerut was replaced due to a heel injury. Weeks 2B Gomez CF Braun DH Fielder 1B McGehee 3B Hart RF Gerut LF Escobar SS Kottaras CHere's who'll be starting: Weeks 2B Gomez CF Braun LF Fielder 1B McGehee DH Hart RF Counsell 3B Escobar SS Kottaras CThe lineup in the lead has been edited to reflect the changes.
  19. Yesterday, I had new DirecTV equipment installed (an upgraded dish and two new receivers). When the installer left: Each remote controlled each receiver simultaneously. In other words, if you changed channels on one receiver, the channel would change on the other. The aspect ratio setting in the receivers didn't match the aspect ratio of the TVs.The HD channels weren't set to display in the program guide. As far as the remote, we knew it was wonky when he left, but I didn't know how wonky it actually was. He told me that I stood a better chance of getting it to work than he did. I discovered the other stuff later. Well, I fixed all this, and it wasn't very hard for me. But if it wasn't hard for me, it certainly shouldn't have been hard for him. Most importantly, however, is that getting these settings right could be extremely hard for a lot of people. Plus, they could think they're watching HD when they're really not. Today, DirecTV called me with an automated survey. I usually hang up on those (or not answer at all), but this time I made sure to participate. And at the end, when the recording asked me if I wanted to talk to a real person, I did. I suppose I should go up on the roof and see what he did (or didn't do) up there.
  20. After following one of the links on the page nate82 provided, I see that Best Buy wants hard drives removed from computers, and they won't take them separately: http://www.bestbuy.com/si...0025&DCMP=rdr0001422 I was going to suggest removing the hard drives anyway, or at the very least, wiping data very thoroughly. With cell phones, I'd look for the menu item that resets it to factory condition.
  21. I bought a blank VHS tape for the first time in about five years. I was pleasantly surprised that I had to go to only two stores to find one. And to use it, I plugged in my VCR for the first time in about two years.
  22. The main issue regarding a potential switch is that it can't be done without a lot of thought and planning. If the board is going to be self-hosted or set up on another system, we have to be absolutely sure that the grass is going to be greener on the other side of the fence. In other words, we'd need to do our homework. Moving the membership would be no easy task; it would have to be done from scratch. Careful planning would have to be done by Brian, the administrators, and the moderators in order make that happen as smoothly as possible. We've certainly had issues with Yuku. There's no debating that. I think it's fair to say that over the next year, we'll be weighing our options. One thing that's still good about Yuku is the way it's funded. We have total control over how much money Yuku gets, meaning that members can rest assured that any money that goes to Yuku will be used.

  24. I've activated the "Want to contribute? - Brewerfan.net Fundraiser" The link also works here in the thread. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Note that contributions also give you some free Yuku Supporter days. The number of Supporter days you receive is based on the size of your contribution. If you're a Yuku Supporter, Brewerfan and LambeauLeap won't be charged for your page views. Also, your Yuku experience will be ad-free across the system. That might be handy for those of you who frequent BPS, which is ad-supported. If you'd like, it's also possible to purchase Yuku Supporter separately. To check your Supporter status or to purchase Supporter separately: Hit the Navigation button in the upper left corner of any board page.Hit the Yuku Supporter link in the Account box that appears on the left-hand side.
