  1. I believe that in most cases, a Brewerfan logo will go on the back of the shirt. And as Patrick mentions above, designs might be touched up with the permission of the artist.
  2. So, apparently the blame somehow winds up on Fielder's shoulders for not stopping Ned after he got drilled...? Yeah, that comment was weird. It almost sounds like the players are expected to take responsibility for managing the team. I can buy into the 'protecting his players' argument when it comes to the ejections. If nothing else, he's protecting them from being ejected. But putting the team into a position that increases its chances of losing isn't protecting anybody. And I sure as heck don't see how Ned would have been protecting Seth McClung.
  3. Here's what I'd write. The problem is that Shel Silverstein already wrote it.
  4. I didn't follow the link until this thread came up. The free version of the link gives the standings in BP's projected order with out any additional data. I think there used to be something in the site's rules that was a little more explicative than what's currently there. Right now, it basically says "don't". From a moderating standpoint, I can't see getting into chalking up warnings or anything like that unless this turns into something really problematic. The bigger concern is to stay on good terms with other sites.
  5. Good question. We definitely don't want to get into a bind. I don't currently have a Baseball Prospectus subscription to be able to check what percentage of the pay content was posted, so I can't really make a judgment call here. (I should really renew. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif) In general, the tendency has been to allow just enough to be a teaser, such as posting Brewer PECOTA stuff without posting other teams'. This year, if I remember correctly we had partial Brewers and partial Cubs PECOTA information.
  6. Note that if you wish to dig back to previous weeks' threads, all 2008 Talkin' Brewers threads have the talkinbrewers tag.
  7. Have a price in mind, but never ever let the sales rep know what it is. Show up at the end of the sales rep's work shift. See if trying to buy at the end of the month offers better deals.
  8. If you have a P.O.S. car... Please note posting an acronym or abbreviation that directly signifies a cuss violates language rules. "B.S." would be an example of a similar violation.
  9. Because Yuku determines board costs by page views, it wasn't entertaining for some board owners and administrators who looked at their payment statuses and saw "costs" rise through the roof. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. Let's move away from the ad hominem arguments.
  11. One of the foreign companies is no-haggle, too. I can't remember which one; it's one of the newer ones. Re Saturn... A few years back when I was shopping, Saturn of Greenfield upped its trade-in offer to match Saturn of Wausau's. There was only a $100 difference to begin with, though. Also, as with any car, there are still potential factory and dealer incentives that could kick in. With my current Saturn, I got a year of free oil changes and tire rotations along with free nitrogen for the tires. And back to the original question, I did buy a Saturn entirely over the phone once. I was completely without a car and needed one ASAP. We simply settled on a car and decided I would sign papers and give them money when I got to Wausau. The finishing touch was the fact that the sales rep drove 57 miles (each way) to get me to Wausau to do this.
  12. As a sneak preview, one of my favorite parts of the show was the illustration that (strongly) suggested that a team's #1, #2, #4, and #5 hitters should all be better than its #3 hitter.
  13. As a sneak preview, one of my favorite parts of the show was the illustration that (strongly) suggested that a team's #1, #2, #4, and #5 hitters should all be better than its #3 hitter.
  14. So far today, Brewerfan has 3,608,933,407 total views and LambeauLeap has 2,405,923,048. Actually, it's a bug that got into the system about two hours ago. The developers are working on it.
  15. I don't believe there was any reason given. All I remember was a comment from Doug Melvin saying that MLB felt that Seth had presented a very effective case.
  16. McClung is likely to end up being a Triple A pitcher continually awaiting an emergency callup. It's not practical to recall a guy for emergency use if he has to sit out a suspension first.
  17. The lead post got into two things: the oxymoron and Ben's injury history. Whether one agrees with Ned or not, 'pattern of bad luck' is amusing. By the way, rather than excerpting, I deleted the long nested quote from reply #21. The post is clear on its own.
  18. Well, casinos do have 1¢, 2¢, 5¢, 10¢, 25¢, and 50¢ machines. Of course, they don't use coins anymore. How about the Bahamas? Apparently they still have a 15¢ coin (not generally circulated), a 50¢ bill, and a $3 bill.
  19. Something usually happens. Watch the Off Topic forum. That's where most of the fantasy stuff is organized.
  20. I think a lot of us shudder when we see Ned's name in a thread title. But after taking a deep breath and reading the lead, it's apparent that there should be no reason to discuss bullpen usage, McClung/Pujols, how Turnbow was used, etc. (The Yost's last shot thread is available for that.) Some people may think "been there, done that" on Sheets' injuries, too. But there's no current thread on that topic, and Ned's comments make it timely again.
  21. This is really a Sheets thread. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Why make your guy pitch with a runner on base when he can just as easily pitch without one?
  23. Just as an analogy... I have a pile of baseball cards from the 1930s that are glued into scrapbooks. That's what people did in those days. They're staying that way unless I decide to find an expert who can deal with it.
  24. If you live in the Bucks' market area, and you're not in an area where you're given some other regional sports network instead, the satellite providers include the Bucks just like they do the Brewers. They'll be on channel 642 on DirecTV and float around on DISH.
  25. This is very rough and incomplete, is mostly off the top of my head rather than researched, and has next to no proofreading. Input is appreciated, especially about MLB.TV. Click on the "+". Preliminary Draft: Broadcasting FAQ [+] RADIO How can I listen to Brewer games? The Brewers are broadcast on WTMJ (Milwaukee) and the Milwaukee Brewers Radio Network [link to affiliate list]. Not every affiliate carries every game, and occasionally, games are split between two stations in a given market. Additionally, games are available on XM Radio and over the Internet on MLB.com Gameday Audio. If I subscribe to XM, will I always hear Bob and Jim? No. XM carries the feed of the home team. You'll hear Bob and Jim half the time. What about Gameday? Gameday audio carries every game for every team and offers just about every radio feed available: home, away, ESPN, non-English, etc. What happens when a Brewer broadcast conflicts with the Packers? When the Brewers and Packers share an affiliate, the Brewers will likely be bumped. In some markets, the Brewers will be on an alternate station. The alternate station is generally lower power than the main affiliate. XM and Gameday are unaffected. TELEVISION How can I watch Brewers games if I'm inside the Brewers' home market? Most Brewer games are broadcast on FSN-Wisconsin. Some games are televised by WMLW in Milwaukee. WMLW games are carried by FSN-Wisconsin outside of the Milwaukee market. Several Spanish language broadcasts are provided by WYTU, Milwaukee's Telemundo affiliate. How do I get these channels? FSN-Wisconsin is generally included with an 'extended basic' cable or satellite subscription. If you're in an area that the Brewers share with one or more home teams, you may need a sports package to receive it. WMLW is carried on Milwaukee area cable systems and as a local Milwaukee channel on DirecTV and DISH Network. It's available over the air on Channels 41 (analog), 13 (digital), and 46-2 (digital). [check 46-2; it may actually be 58-2]. WYTU is carried on Milwaukee area cable systems, as a local Milwaukee channel on DirecTV and DISH Network, and on some cable systems outside of Milwaukee. It's available over the air on Channel 63 (analog) and Channel 17 (digital). How do I find Brewers games on satellite? Brewers games bounce around between several channels on DISH Network. FSN-Wisconsin is on DirecTV Channel 642. In 2007, several WMLW games outside of the Milwaukee market were carried on an alternate channel, often 658. [add HD channel information] Which systems carry FSN in HD? Time Warner and DirecTV carry FSN in HD. This channel is available during HD broadcasts only. What happens when a Brewer broadcast conflicts with the Bucks? In the Milwaukee market, as the Brewers will likely be on WMLW and the Bucks will be on FSN, this shouldn't be an issue. In 2007, outside of the Milwaukee market, the Bucks were given priority. Hopefully, the fact that DirecTV started carrying some 2007 games on an alternate channel might foreshadow that both the Brewers and Bucks will be carried. Wait and see. What if I'm outside the Brewers' home market? MLB Extra Innings is available on DirecTV and selected cable systems. MLB.TV is available on the Internet. Extra Innings will carry the great majority of Brewer games, however you might be listening to the opponent's feed. [insert basic information about MLB.TV.] Note that if you're in the Brewers' home market, Extra Innings and MLB.TV Brewer games will be blacked out. If you live in an area that's home to multiple teams, games involving those teams will be blacked out, too. [link to map]
