  1. Is pogokat's contribution included in the total but simply not showing up in the itemized list?
  2. The Community Chest is a separate ezBoard thing (that can only be used for ezBoard/Yuku costs). It hasn't been open since 2004, so October's donations don't show up there. In Paypal, if you poke around a little, there's a way to get to your past history.
  3. If you used PayPal, the directions tell you to click all the way through until you eventually end up back on the contributions page. If you used a credit card, I'd check with the company to see if you're account has been charged.
  4. Brian can get into more detail, but the October fund-raiser was to defray Brewerfan.net-related costs rather than ezBoard/Yuku costs.
  5. Religious leaders have screwed with time, too. But I guess I shouldn't be mentioning that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. Hold off on ezSupporter renewals. Yuku doesn't currently offer an ezSupporter equivalent, but plans to offer one in the future.

  9. Because they're concentrating on describing the action at hand, baseball knowledge or lack thereof isn't exposed. These guys aren't trying to be the 'stars' of the broadcast. I like that. If we were listening to an interview, 'baseball knowledge' would be much more on the forefront.
  10. I was just going to comment on the fine job by Mike Hegan and Jim Paschke. Way back when, play by play and color duties were much more frequently 'split up' like most radio broadcasts tend to do.

  12. Juan Nieves vs. Mike Flannagan Note that tonight's game is on DirecTV and DISH Network.
  13. I see neither a popup nor a blocked popup notification in Firefox; that could be because of pretty aggressive ad-blocking or the fact that I don't allow javascript unless I whitelist a site. (Brewerfan.net is whitelisted, but other sites bf.net might access likely aren't.) I do see the blocked popup notification in SeaMonkey. I tried Opera; there wasn't a popup, but I'm not sure what the blocked popup notification looks like. I believe the Google Ads belong here as a (small) source of income for this site. In my case, they're probably getting caught in whatever the ad-blockers are trying to do on my end. (I never purposely block anything on Brewerfan.net, but I do know some ads get 'caught'.)
  14. Are you getting this both at home and at work?
  15. Just to see what would happen, I sent a cell phone text message to Google to see if anything would come back. Lo and behold, the return message showed Adam's first sentence from the last Wikipedia page.
  16. Back when we had the Hardy vs. Hall debates, one issue, as pogokat said, was that Billy stunk until 2005. The other was the three year age difference between the two players. When Billy's excellent performance level continued into 2006, it was clear that he deserved an everyday spot in the lineup. At that point, the issue ceased being Hardy vs. Hall. It became Hardy vs. one of the outfielders. The Brewers have decided to let J.J. bump an outfielder. I see two ways the Brewers may be looking at Hardy. They might feel that this year, his hitting plus defense will contribute more than the hitting plus defense of an outfield option. They may feel he's still young and should be given every opportunity to reach his potential.I'd say it's probably a combination of both.
  17. That bugs me like crazy. The two words have almost opposite meanings. I think I may have even complained about that gaffe somewhere earlier in this thread. Let me say that if I see the wrong spelling (and thus the wrong meaning) in a subject title, I will edit it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. I don't see a no-win situation at all. Nobody whined last year when Corey was platooned. Given the state of contracts this winter, if he earns 507 plate appearances, he deserves the guaranteed 2008 money. The only way Corey's team loses is if he plays poorly, yet defaults into vesting the option because platoon options are injured or fail.
  19. I agree with Al that Corey probably won't reach 507 plate appearances. But I don't want it to happen because the Brewers are intentionally trying to limit his AB totals. If it somehow turns out that it's best for the team that he plays, so be it. A manager shouldn't be put into the position of having to determine playing time based on incentive clauses. Given the contracts handed out this winter, if things go well for Corey this season, he could very well be worth the money his option calls for.
  20. The team option can be exercised by Koskie's team no matter what happens during the 2007 season. If the option is declined, there's a $500,000 buyout. The option automatically kicks in if Corey reaches 507 plate appearances in 2007.
  21. Science and social studies aren't on "the test"? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  22. Corey's $6.5 million 2008 option will vest if he has 507 plate appearances in 2007. His contract calls for the option to vest if he reaches a total of 1,200 Plate Appearances 2005-07 or 600 Plate Appearances in 2006 or 2007. With 693 PA over the past two seasons, the 600 PA part would now be moot. Additionally, if his team really decides it wants him, the option is also a team option.
  23. Jeff's a Brewers fan who writes the Brew Crew Ball blog and maintains the minorleaguesplits.com web site. He posts here from time to time.
  24. I edited those links out because molitor fan said they weren't viewable in IE. We all know what happens when one does this, but I assumed that data URIs were something basic that all browsers handled. Essentially, the entire content of a file is converted and placed within the href attribute of the anchor tag. This is something that can be either really cool or really awful for message boards. I've often seen this technique used when people want to post big chunks of code for review. It saves the reader from having to sift through code (and possibly scrolling sideways) to get to the actual content of a post. The potential for abuse is that someone could upload huge amounts of data to a message board that should be stored on another server. For smaller amounts of information that would otherwise be posted within the message anyway, it saves a bunch of scrolling. That was the case here. Also, in this case, using the data URI actually saved a bit of HTML code and would have effected a slightly, but probably unnoticeably, faster page load.
