  1. His 2015 opponents have an .872 OPS against him (.365 OBP, .508 SLG).
  2. The bottom line is that you have to compare notes with your friends and neighbors. It's also good to check with people who are in the areas you travel to. Everyone's coverage needs are different, and a carrier can be are a better match for some than for others. Certainly, everyone's observations are valid under the circumstances that they've personally experienced.
  3. When people lose lawsuits, they're not found "guilty." It seems that tech bloggers are especially subject to making this error.
  4. North of Green Bay/Marshfield is outside of their market and you won't get 4g or good battery life because you will be roaming. That's what I based my observation on. At my house up north, Verizon is the most reliable connection. AT&T will probably work. Coverage is non-existent for Sprint and T-Mobile. Also, Verizon is the only network that offers 3G. AT&T is still stuck on 2G up there. I've never noticed GPS to be a drain on data, but it definitely drains the battery. Since you're in the car anyway, it's easy enough to plug the device into power when you use it.
  5. Last weeks Padres series had very low attendance figures, but I think the four game weekday series probably diluted the numbers somewhat. Attendance is going to be down, but I wouldn't figure on it typically being quite that low.

  7. I think that the biggest potential data eater is to use the phone as a hotspot for a PC or Mac. My gut says that 2GB would be the sweet spot for two people to start with. That might translate into buying 3GB on some carriers. I get by well with 1GB. I'm not anal about hooking up to WiFi for basic things, but I'm careful about the big stuff. I've come close to exceeding my 1GB when I've been on trips and the WiFi options sucked. The only time I've actually had to buy more data was the month I moved and cellular was my only Internet access for a couple of weeks. It appears that T-Mobile has the most user-friendly deals when it comes to data. Leftover data is banked for future use over the next six months. They also let you stream from numerous music services without counting the streaming against your usage. I believe AT&T will carry over leftover data for a month. Of course, there are other things to consider. Verizon seems to have the best coverage, for instance. T-Mobile has a lot of holes, and AT&T falls somewhere in between.

  9. Had the drafts been better, the Brewers could have made those trades while still having players in the farm system capable of helping the Major League club.
  10. If you're befuddled by the options, the simple choice is to go with an iPhone. There are only four models out there: [list-sp] 5C: only 8GB of storage (minus the OS and pre-installed apps) 5S: 16 or 32GB of storage (minus the OS and pre-installed apps), faster processor than 5C, Touch ID (fingerprint sensor) 6 & 6 Plus: 16, 64, or 128GB of storage (minus the OS and pre-installed apps), faster processor than 5S, Touch ID, larger screens than 5C/5S, NFC for Apple Pay[/list-sp] Although it may be a consideration for Android phones, you don't have to worry about RAM when considering Apple. In fact, Apple rarely mentions it, if ever. We usually find out about iPhone RAM from people who do teardowns. It's not a big deal if the product works. For a data plan, my biggest concern would be what happens if I go over my limit. If the charge for extra usage is reasonable, it's no big deal. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't monitor your usage and opt for WiFi for data-instensive stuff. But it does mean that you don't have to be freaking out if you have a month here or there where you need to exceed your limit.

  12. Based on a thread posted in Off Topic, it appears that some providers still need to catch up. If you're still seeing the message saying that the domain has expired, you could try flushing your DNS cache per directions on this page: http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Flush_DNS It doesn't include directions for flushing DNS in Windows 10 or OS X Yosemite 10.10.4. Directions for Yosemite 10.10.4 are included on this page: http://osxdaily.com/2014/11/20/flush-dns-cache-mac-os-x/ If flushing DNS doesn't help, in the short term, you could try accessing LL via this proxy site: http://anonymouse.org/anonwww.html
  13. It's up and running. See this topic. Is lambeau leap dead now? I'll respond in a little more depth over there. Feel free to respond to that topic if you have questions.
  14. Counsell is well versed as far as modern stats go. But that doesn't mean that the manager should always choose the in-game option that might rate as the best statistically. If he did that, his strategies would become too predictable. I wouldn't be too concerned about Melvin sticking around. He's smart enough to know that an adviser's role is to offer opinions rather than pushing them and to provide information as needed. He's had former GMs in his front office; he should know the drill.
  15. The problem with the Android "free with a plan" phones is that those are the ones least likely to be updated. The "free with a plan" iPhone will get updates. That's assuming that a contract price is available or desirable. Carriers are dropping subsidized phones and instead charging full price on a payment plan. That's generally considered to be a good thing. Your monthly rate drops once the phone is paid for, and carriers set things up for users to upgrade sooner if they'd like. Definitely check out the security of the fingerprint sensor. Apple's will be fine as uses algorithms instead of images, the algorithm is stored in a secure area of the hardware, and apps don't have direct access to them. On the other side of the spectrum, the fingerprint sensor on the HTC One Max is completely insecure. You'll also want to think about how you want to deal with photos as you won't want to store them on your phone indefinitely. With an iPhone-Mac combo, they're easy to move from the phone to either iPhoto in pre-2015 OS X versions or Photos in the latest versions of OS X Yosemite. If you store photos in iCloud, you'll almost certainly need to pay for extra storage. Of course, there'd be third party cloud options that would have apps on multiple platforms. Another thing to ask about is the cost of replacing the screen. Apple is able to do this fairly inexpensively because of the volume of phones that they produce. If you're thinking of an iPhone and are able to wait, we'll be seeing new models in a few weeks. New models mean faster processors, updates extending further into the future, and reduced prices on current models.
  16. Don't get anything that doesn't have the current operating system. That's not an issue with iPhones, but cheap Android phones often ship with obsolete OSes that will never see an update. A huge advantage to iPhones is that updates are actually delivered. Apple is able to bypass the carriers. That means that customers receive updates as soon as they're available. Updates on other platforms need to go through both the phone manufacturer and carrier before they're delivered, if they're delivered at all. Since the most important updates address security issues, you'll want to have them. iPhones integrate very nicely with Macs and reasonably well with Windows. That means that your contacts, calendars, etc. will be available to you on all of your devices. I know that you have an older Mac, though, so I don't know how well equipped that might be. But on any platform, you can access iCloud via any modern web browser. Pay attention to storage. Manufacturers advertise the total amount of storage available without accounting for the operating system or pre-installed apps. You'll want to know how much storage is actually available for you to use and plan accordingly.
  17. I added the bold to the quote above. I wonder if there are any women in the mix. Anyway, I want someone who can implement solid orginazational philosophies as far as hitting and pitching. There's discussion in last night's in-game thread about how the Cubs hitters are able to work counts. This needs to start with the GM, and the managers, coaches and players need to be on board. Also, I'd like to see someone who can rebuild patiently. If the GM is less apt to decimate the minor league system in order to "win now," teardowns should become less necessary. Keeping the minors stocked should be an ongoing process. Of course, a philosophy like this needs support from ownership.
  18. It seems that having Lohse around works as insurance against burning though the pitching staff and forcing a roster move. His availability certainly made things easier last night when both Jungmann and Thornburg were ineffective. And as a bonus, Kyle's actually been effective in his relief appearances. I'd just ride it out if a trade possibility doesn't come up. Come September, there'll be plenty of roster space for him. And if he wants to try to get a job next year, it'd certainly be to his advantage to finish the season.
  19. It's working for me now. It took a couple of days for the fix to propagate. When the fix takes may vary by provider. I was able to get in with a proxy before I was able to directly load the site.

  21. Brian just really botched the explanation of super-two. I don't know if he misspoke or if he just doesn't know. At any rate, super-two affects arby, not free agency.
  22. Using ranking is flawed. Too many parks are too close together, and it would only take a slight change to bump a stadium up or down several spots. Also, we've been told that a single season is a small sample. If you go through previous years, you'll find park factors moving up and down. There's a year where Miller tended slightly toward pitchers (99). I look at the stats and develop the opinion that most parks, including Miller, are pretty close to neutral. Denver and Arlington stand out as hitter's parks, and San Diego stands out as a pitcher park.
