  1. I'm definitely interested, sign me up! Thanks Pedro!
  2. Once upon a time, I visited the brewers MLB message board with some regularity, but it was often cluttered with nonsense, and those were dark days indeed. Then one day a poster came along and railed against the moderation on brewerfan.net, and I knew I had found the place for me. One visit later, the addiction started and now I am a proud member of the daily (read hourly) visitors club. This is definitely the best place for Brewer information and civilized and informed conversation. And I lived happily ever after. The End
  3. 40 seems just about right barring injury, because as the article said, if a team is winning as much as the Brewers should be, then Gagne will get plenty of chances
  4. Here's hoping that sometime late this year, a Brewer highlight will knock something off that list.
  5. My wife and I have done the all inclusive thing in the bahamas and also Ixtapa in Mexico. The Bahamas was great, and I would definitely reccommend it to anyone looking for a vacation. I don't know about the new rules, but at that time (2004) all you needed was a birth certificate to travel there. Mexico was not bad, but we stayed there in August, and while the temps weren't bad, it was the fact that there were mostly Mexican families on vacation there due to it being their time off from school. So there wasn't a lot of intermingling because of the language barrier. All in all though, I would reccommend the all-inclusive experience, because aside from maybe not getting to see the local restaurants, all the activities are going to be out in the community anyway, so you really don't lose anything. Also if you are looking for quiet and relaxation, definitely find a place with no kids.
  6. Well, it would seem that one of the "Oceanic 6" is Aaron, Claire's child, only everyone thinks it's Kate's. They said last week that another of the six would be revealed this week, and it sure is something I had never even heard anyone throw out as a possibility before
  7. It's only the best album to come out of the grunge era
  8. Marley, the thing that makes your analogy so great is the fact that it works both ways. Someone in the same situation might see that same girl and just remember all the bad things from that failed relationship, leading to a very bad feeling. I really can't say that I feel good or bad about the signing, because in the end it isn't likely to have much of an effect on the team anyway, and I was never a huge Muscle fan.
  9. It was touched on earlier somewhere in the thread, but the thing about Nickelback is that they came out and had a decent pop-rock sound. Their first album and to a certain extent their second were ok. But then they just decided that everyone liked those songs, so that's the only sound we can possibly produce from now on. They never innovated or changed a thing, and then continued to get massive airplay, which leads to overkill, and a backlash. Their lyrics certainly leave a lot to be desired, and so there are multiple reasons that one might not like them. I certainly can't say that I like them, mostly beacuse they are boring.
  10. yup, I've used Yahoo for years, and it is definitely the best one out there
  11. As long as you aren't in a huge hurry and need to buy a house right away (i.e. you've already sold your house) there is no danger in contracting a buyer's agent. One caveat though, my wife and I recently moved back to Wisconsin (Fond du Lac) and the first agent we contacted turned out to be pretty inept. We were very glad we didn't enter a buyer's agency with him, because then we would have been obligated to use him and we were under a deadline to find a home. If you are already comfortable with an agent, then using one is the way to go, no doubt. Our second realtor turned out to be great.
  12. Pam Ward Wow, I couldn't even write it down without laughing, she's terrible. However, Gus is great, and I used to love Keith Jackson
  13. 10. Gladiator 9. Blazing Saddles 8. Office Space 7. Goodfellas 6. Indiana Jones - Last Crusade 5. The Waterboy 4. Kung Fu Hustle 3. Super Troopers 2. American Beauty 1. Tombstone
  14. I got a 45, I guess I'll have to dedicate my rice-giving to the memory of el caballo.
  15. Here is what I could find: "In settling the 1981 Major League Baseball strike, players and owners agreed to a system for ranking major league players for the purpose of determining the compensation to be received by a team when it loses a player through free agency. The settlement to the bargaining impasse included a formula that would be applied to the statistics accumulated by all major league players over the most recent two-year period… the parties agreed that the application of the formula and the consequent production of the rankings would be the responsibility of The Elias Sports Bureau. The system divides players into five different groupings in each of the two leagues-starting pitchers, relief pitchers, catchers, 1B/DH/OF, and 2B/3B/SS. Players are placed into the position at which the player appeared the most over the last two seasons… and then they are rated against one another based upon a variety of statistics. For offensive players, the categories include batting average, on-base percentage, home runs, runs batted in, and fielding percentage… for pitchers, the statistics include appearances, innings pitched, wins, winning percentage, saves, earned run average, WHIP, strikeouts and strikeout-to-walk ratio. Players are then 'compared' to one another based upon these statistics using the agreed-upon formula… they are rated within each of the five grouings, as well as overall (by league). The top 20% of the rankings within the respective groupings are designated as "Type A" free agents and the next 40% are designated "Type B" free agents." Certainly not a complete answer, but it does explain some of the stranger rankings, when you consider the time frame used.

  17. Road records - Colorado 18-25 Arizona 22-24 San Fran 17-27 Home records - Cincy 20-26 STL 21-22 So I guess that means we should probably go something like this: 2/3 2/4 2/3 3/4 2/4 Which leads us to an 11-7 record, definitely doable, and would keep us in first by at least the margin we hold now.
