  1. Craigslist has now exploded with playoff tickets. I am guessing this is many of the lucky lottery winners trying to cash in by reselling these tickets. It'd be nice if the team could find a way to sell the tickets directly to fans that actually want to attend the game. I have absolutely no problem at all with season ticket holders reselling some of their tickets, but it is obnoxious that so many enter the lottery just to try make a profit off of this.
  2. Yes, you have a big problem. You will not be able to see the game. I will generously take those off your hands for what you paid for them. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif That's first row of terrace reserve, I believe, and on the aisle. The obstruction is most likely the higher railing at the end of the aisle.
  3. I've been monitoring that market, while I wait for better prices http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif. Supply on stubhub has been increasing every day, currently almost 12% (that's about 1 of every 8 seats) of NLDS tickets are for sale there. Some of the lottery winners will add to that. There may also be people waiting for the actual schedules to be announced before deciding if they will sell or not.
  4. (that's all 4 games, so both ALDS and NLDS) But if the games are in NY, Detroit/Texas, Philadelphia, and Milwaukee (all eastern and central time zones) they are not going to start a game 9:30 central (10:30 eastern), are they? Another reason to hope the Brewers win home field is that if they play in AZ, it would be the 9:30 pm game, since that would be 7:30 in AZ.
  5. Are you saying if, say, I had a 20 game season ticket package in Loge infield and they didn't have playoff seats in that section for me that I would get Terrace Reserve seats, rather than loge outfield? Then they would turn around and sell the loge outfield seats to some random lottery winner? That would seem like a pretty rotten way to treat their season ticket holders. The lottery winners do not have tickets yet, right? So all the stub hub tickets are from season ticket holders. Rows as high as 28 in field outfield and 20 in loge outfield are listed. So those sections seem likely to be pretty much gone. I believe 9 pack holders got to buy some playoff tickets too, some of them probably have field/loge/club outfield seats.
  6. Most of these questions are answered on the lottery registration page: http://milwaukee.brewers....ostseason_tixop_form.jsp The NLDS winners will have the opportunity to purchase up to four (4) tickets to one game of the 2011 NLDS Tickets will be available to winners on a first-come, first served basis only while tickets remain. Winners may not transfer this purchase opportunity. I have seen people trying to sell their rights on craigslist, one thought he should get $300.
  7. Brewers.com now shows pitcher TBA for Wednesday and says: This is Yovani Gallardo's day to pitch, and he still may appear for a brief postseason tune-up. Ditto for Zack Greinke, who would like to pitch to stay sharp between his final regular-season start and the playoffs.
  8. I don't know about satellite, but TWC carries SD versions of local broadcast stations on ch, 4, 6, etc. HD versions are on 1004, 1006. Any TV without a digital box gets only the SD versions. I think that's right anyway, we have only one HDTV and I never tried running the cable directly to it without going to through the box.
  9. Not even close. They have won 55% of games, so if that were the assumption, the odds of a sweep would be about 17% (0.55 x 0.55 x 0.55 = 16.6%). To get a 50% chance of a sweep, they have to have almost an 80% chance of winning each game.
  10. I have never been lucky enough to win, but I would assume they are all going to be high rows in Terrace reserve, since season ticket holders on stub hub are selling as high as row 24 of sections 436 and 408 and also selling tickets as far out as section 440. Y'now that makes me realize winning that lottery is no big deal, it just means you get to buy tickets for $30 that will probably end up at about $40, or $50 at worst, on stub hub or craigslist.
  11. I am pretty sure BA mentioned it would be in St. Louis.
  12. Seems like, assuming they may need a win on Wednesday to stay ahead of AZ, the NLDS plan may be Greinke, Marcum, Gallardo, Wolf, Grienke. Gallardo in game 3 sets him up for game one of NLCS. If that goes according to plan, and the NLDS does go 5, then they could plan on NLCS going Gallardo, Marcum, Greinke, Wolf, Gallardo, Marcum, Greinke.
  13. Today's win by the braves and loss by the cards almost clinches that. They now have a 3 game lead with 5 to play. ...and 2 days later, it's almost like it is the Cardinals wild card slot to lose. One game behind and they are going to Houston, while Atlanta goes to Philadelphia. I think I'd like to see the Brewers finish ahead of AZ and Atlanta winning a one game playoff against the Cardinals.
  14. Season ticket holders got a discount, didn't they? $15 would be the regular price, so I am guessing that all sections were regular price for season ticket holders?
  15. The "probable pitchers" list is indicating that that seems to be the plan: Gallardo may be limited to just a few innings in his final start to keep him fresh for the playoffs. Zack Greinke may pitch in relief as well behind Gallardo. http://milwaukee.brewers....chers/index.jsp?c_id=mil In the 5 game series, it kinda really only matters who pitches game 1, as that is the only guy that will get two starts. If they get to the next round, then it is the opposite, each gets potentially two starts except the #4. So in a way, the only decisions that really matter are who pitches game 1 in the NLDS (not Wolf, as he is scheduled to start Tuesday) and then who pitches game 4 in the NLCS (Wolf, I assume).
  16. I don't know if there is enough difference between the Brewers top 4 to justify skipping, if it means having someone go on short rest. My guess would be Wolf on regular rest > Greinke/Marcum/Gallardo on short rest? I don't know what the order should be, but I think it will be a 4 man rotation.
  17. Yes! ...and looking for a picture, before I realized I'd been beaten to it, I was surprised to find that one was only #10 in a list of "the 10 Ugliest Uniforms of All Time". I think the Marlins will be appearing on the next version of that, not sure who they will bump off the list, but it should not be that Astros one or this one: http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/000/815/028/whitesoxs2_display_image.jpg?1301271718
  18. If all KRod cares about is money, he will be better off taking the arby and then going free agency in 2013. Why would he be better off with arbitration, rather than a multi-year contract?
  19. It is not that AZ (for example) has a better chance of beating Philadelphia than the Brewers do. I would assume either teams odds would be about the same against the Phillies. It this: If the Brewers and AZ have the same chance of beating Philadelphia, the one who plays them first has the smaller chance of getting to the WS. In the example I posted yesterday, if AZ and Milwaukee are equal and Philadelphia has a 64% chance of beating either of them, the one who must play Philly first has an 18% chance of getting to the WS, while the one who does not has a 20.5% chance. So please explain why it is you prefer the match-up that reduces the Brewers odds of getting to the WS?
  20. Why do you characterize it as "fear". It's simple, the chances of losing to Philly are greater than chances of losing to any other team they may play in the NL. Even you you have the unusual opinion that winning a NLDS is meaningless, the chances of the Brewers getting to the WS are greater if they do not play the Phillies in the NLDS.
  21. Yeah, beating Atlanta, AZ, and TX (or Detriot) >>>>>>>>>>>>>> losing to Philadelphia, NYY, or Boston (especially since the main reason NYY, Philly, and Boston are as good as they are is financial.)
  22. How in the world are you reading that into his comments? If the Brewers made him the best offer, I'm sure he'd sign. If the Brewers offered him something like 8 years and $180,000 million he might sign without going to free agency. The point is the Brewers can not and should not make an offer like that. Just as CC likely would have signed had the Brewers offered him close to the years and pay that the Yankees did, but it just did not make sense for them to do so. Prince was merely stating the same thing that TH did in his column today: Six players already signed for next season...And right-hander Shaun Marcum is sure to get a big bump from his $3.95 million salary. Toss in a $22 million salary for Fielder and you'd be over $80 million for eight players, making it impossible to field a club for anything near the $95 million payroll the Brewers have this season. And they're probably going to lose money at that level despite drawing 3 million fans. So, it just doesn't work to keep Fielder. He knows it. Boras knows it. The Brewers know it. http://www.jsonline.com/s...s/brewers/130043863.html The reason the Brewers can not keep Fielder is because MLB and the players union have decided they prefer having huge differences in what different teams can afford to pay players to doing what would need to be done to create an equal financial playing field. This system will likely persist unless and until fans walk away from the game in sufficient numbers that it starts cutting the income of both players and owners.
  23. However the teams line up for the playoffs, the Phillies likely have about the same odds of going to the WS. That probably is true of the Brewers, as well. Actually, thinking about that and then doing some calculations that is probably not so. Suppose the Phillies have a 64% chance of winning, no matter who their opponent is in each round and the other teams have a 50% chance of winning against each other in any match-up. Then the team that plays the Phillies first has a 36% chance of winning the NLDS and a 50% chance of winning the NLCS, so 18% chance of going to WS. Now the team that does not play the Phillies first has a 50% chance of winning the NLDS, but in the NLCS there is a 64% chance they will play the Phillies and a 36% chance they will play someone else. That means they would have a 41% chance of winning the NLCS, if they get there (0.64 x 0.36 + 0.36 x 0.50). Since there is a 50% chance of getting to the NLCS, that gives them a 20.5% chance of getting to the WS. That is a 14% improvement in the odds (18 x 1.14 = 20.5) of getting to the WS by playing the weaker team first, in this example.
  24. While they may have a better chance of getting lucky in the shorter series, it does not make them any more likely to get to the WS because the Phillies are about as likely to lose to AZ or St. Louis in the NLDS as they would be to lose to the Brewers in the NLDS. However the teams line up for the playoffs, the Phillies likely have about the same odds of going to the WS. That probably is true of the Brewers, as well. But, while Philadelphia has about the same odds of getting to the NLCS no matter who their first opponent is, that is not true for the Brewers. I'd like to see the Brewers go to the WS, but if they don't I still want them to get to the NLCS and I also want them to win the division.
  25. Michael Hunt: Maybe this comes off as a little hypocritical from a sports writer. I've asked Fielder plenty of times over the years about his future, and he's always said something along the lines of what will be will be. And anyway, it was a pointless question. I don't know if it is hypocritical, but what do you call it when a reporter keeps asking a (in his own words) "pointless" question but hopes the person he is asking it of does not give a real answer? I think Hunt is maybe just annoyed that Fielder only ever gave him the pat non-answer but BA got something more out of him.
