  1. ++Reminder++ You must use your Brewerfan.net screen name as your team name!
  2. Let me start out by saying that with the numbers involved, this has turned out to be a significantly more complex project than I envisioned when I volunteered and I've had to completely rework my original plans for this league. I am not complaining, I am just stating that due to the details involved in scheduling, I know I am not going to make everyone happy and that there is potential for errors. However, I am going to do my best to make this one of the most inclusive and enjoyable fantasy baseball experiences possible. I hope we can all do our best to approach this fantasy season as mature, reasonable fans while limiting criticism to the constructive variety and remembering it is only a game. All dates and rules are subject to change. Yahoo's Rules LEAGUE DETAILS Basic Facts: 1. We will be using Yahoo's free fantasy league system. 2. You must use your Brewerfan.net screen name as your team name. 3. We will use a Rotisserie scoring method. 4. This is NOT a keeper league. 5. Only one team per forum member. 6. The season will be broken into two parts: a.The first season will run from April 2nd until May 31st (~55 games) b.The championship season will run from June 19th to October 1st (These dates are required by Yahoo) 7. Since I am going to be playing in all four first season leagues and the championship league by default, I have decided to make myself ineligible for prizes. League Organization First Season (April 2nd to May 31st) 1. 4 leagues with a maximum of 15 teams each. (as commissioner, I will be the 16th player in each league) 2. Signup for each league will be first come first serve. 3. The top 4 players on May 31st from each league move on to the Championship Season. 4. Not all leagues may end up with the same amount of players. 5. Ties will be settled with a coin flip by the commissioner. 6. First Season league draft days and times. Join Now! a. If you cannot make any of the scheduled times, you will still be able to use Yahoo?s player rankings or pre-rank players and have the system automatically select your players. Championship Season 1. The championship season will run from June 19th to October 1st.(These dates are required by Yahoo) 2. No keepers will be carried over from the First Season. 3. The draft for the championship season will take place on Sunday, June 4th at 7 PM CST. ( I would have liked to pick a day slightly closer to the start of the season, but I will be traveling and my access to the internet may be unreliable) Instead of going into painstaking detail about league settings and scoring, I've posted pictures that should explain the organization and setup for the First Season. Details of the Championship Season will be posted closer to the start of that season, but should be very similar. 3. I would like to thank all of you for posting in this thread and allowing us to gauge the interest in this league. Our finalized league rules and instructions should be posted in the near future.
  4. People will be able to change their rosters daily, but their will be game limits for position players and inning limits for pitchers. The stats will also be selected to reward not only for amassing things like strikeouts and wins, but penalize for high ERA and WHIP. I will try and balance the leagues so that smart owners that properly play good players will do better than people that try and cheat the system.
  5. Because of the number of people interested, we are going to have multiple rotisserie leagues for the first half of the season and then take the top few (number as yet to be determined) people from each league for one redrafted second half championship prize league. Maybe in the future we can look at a keeper league, but this year is more of an experiment and with the number of people involved it would be a daunting task to keep all the rosters straight for next year and I would speculate that we are going to have massive turnover and numerous rule changes.
  6. My initial plan was to limit the league to ezboard supporters, but it was decided, and I wholeheartedly agree, that we should be more inclusive. Because of the high level of interest, we will most likely have multiple leagues that last only half of the season. This will limit the effect of people who abandon their team and make the second season intense. For consistency, I will be commissioner of each league and I have decided to make myself ineligible for prizes. (Based on past results, I?m likely to win anyway) I will update the official rules message later with an official time, but I think I am going to put a deadline for early next week (maybe wednesday) on enrollment to people who contact me or post in this thread. Opt in now if you?re interested.
  7. We are in a bit of uncharted territory having an official BF.Net league and most of the details of its structure will be dictated by the amount of interest. Here are a few of the details that will remain unchanged regardless of the number of participants. 1. It is going to be a free Yahoo Rotisserie League 2. It is NOT a keeper league 3. The draft will be at a set date (mid March) and be conducted via the live online method. (You can prearrange your selections if you can?t make the live draft time) 4. This is not a quitter?s league. Only signup if plan to stick with it through the entire season. If there is great interest in this program, I am considering breaking the contest into two seasons. We would have multiple leagues for the first half of the season and then the top few players from each league would redraft for a championship league for the second half. If you are interested in participating or have any questions or suggestions, please post them in this thread or send a message to my eZinbox.
  8. If I had to guess, I think they will deal Carlos at the break next season. If he equals last season?s first half performance (or goes contract year gangbusters), he could net some upper tier prospects and then we can plug in Hart, Cruz, or move Clark over if DK finds his stroke.
  9. 2005 Outlook The Cardinals could not have expected more out of Suppan than they received. Signed for another season with an option in 2006, he would appear to be set in the St. Louis rotation unless the club elects to shop him to save money for use somewhere else. Unless they dump him, he will be killing the crew again next season.
  10. Do you think DM could trade for Suppan this winter so we don't have to face him? We don't have to start him, just have him park cars next season... I'm half serious.
  11. I predict that Glover puts up a no-no and were stuck trotting him out again next season.
  12. I catching the game on MLB radio with the Braves announcers and for the first few minutes they seem to have a nice combination of energy and knowledge. Anyone know who these guys are?
  13. That richie guy sure does not know how to work the count.
  14. The game isn't on TV? How long is the Brewer's contract with FSN? No HD, limited schedule, bad announcers and rising popularity... if only there was a stat to measure this! (I guess I can still watch Firefly tonight)
  15. Although not as vociferous as some, I am an ardent critic of Nedly J. Thimblebrain. That said, I would have difficulty placing this loss on his shoulders. The only really controversial situation I heard today was letting Sheets hit late in the game with runners at the corners and 1 out. Given how Sheets was dealing and how bad the pen has been in this series, it was a somewhat palatable decision. I must have lulled by mediocrity into mid-season numbness, because I feel a strange sense of serenity and anticipation instead of submitting to the apoplectic nature of my rational mind. I really hope they crush the Reds and I want to see Hart or Cruz instead of Terrance Trent Aussie on the roster.
  16. Did the Brewers really score all those runs in the 9th without any bunting?
  17. dons tinfoil hat... Helms getting a few more starts at third lately... showcasing for a trade perhaps? (Or is Nedly trying to make it impossible for DM to trade his boy by playing him at third?) Now I just need to figure out how Helling ties into all of this...
  18. I would not say "own". 15 starts 7-3 record with a 3.36 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and .272 BAA. Looks like he likes to pitch himself out of trouble.
  19. So the ideal future infield in a couple years is Prince, Weeks, Hardy, and Braun... So basically the Crew is going to have to mash, because 3/4 of the defense is going to be a sieve?
  20. My family bailed on me, so I took my new Canon S2 IS (12x zoom) to the game instead. I just got it last week and have not mastered its features, but I thought I would share a few cropped images from the glorious victory. It's easy to do with photoshop, but so much more fun to do with the camera. http://members.arstechnica.com/x/zac/green.jpg swapping colors is fun too! Instead of his cutlass, tonight the captain wielded his feather sword http://members.arstechnica.com/x/zac/sharpie.jpg A few miracles... number 1 numero dos number 3 I hear that girls only like guys with skills. (like karate skills) Nobody fears the Dread Pirate Wesley I think the radar gun clocked Randy's head at 107. http://members.arstechnica.com/x/zac/woah.jpg It's bacon! Dressed for radio. The new boss.
  21. So does this officially mean that the honeymoon is over for our new owner? It will be interesting to see if he makes any noise in the media after our current showing.
  22. The dodgers broadcast team is just ripping Bill Hall's approach and disparaging the Crew with our pitiful stats.
  23. Ugh. Please go back to the Sausage. Brainerd may be the nicest guy in the verse, but I sicken when his image taints my eyes, especially when he despoils the beauty of my 55" Sony LCD TV. The only saving grace is the pause button provided by my Sage driven HTPC. Who are they trying to market to with the cornball skits that often overlap the action on the field? I don't blame him, obviously someone wants him do this during the game. I think I am starting to hate him more than Geno despises Brady Clark. BTW: Commander Keen is the only character that makes a great Avatar.
  24. <-- Ah, proof that I am no longer a financial drain, just an intellectual one? Let's see... based on the current trend... Brewers 11 Cubs 2
