  1. A good manager helps put his team in a position to win even when everything doesn't go according to the "script". Roenicke is incapable of this at this point in his managerial career. Perhaps he'll learn. Perhaps he'll never get it.
  2. Changeup pitchers typically have good results at the beginning of seasons. If they are going to trade him, let him put together a good April and May first.
  3. Automatic. Got to drill the first batter next inning. If you miss him on the first pitch, drill him with the 2nd. Retaliation for TLR's ridiculousness against Braun earlier this year. In fact, eliminate the middle man and drill TLR.
  4. At some point you've got to decide to use your best pitchers for 2 innings each and worry about tomorrow tomorrow.
  5. Trevor Hoffman coming in to Hells Bells. How cool would that be?
  6. This is a game we'll never forget. First postseason road win since game 1 of the 1982 World Series.
  7. This tends to happen in games where our starting pitchers max out at 86 MPH and lack location - a recipe for disaster in AA ball, let alone the MLB playoffs. Roenicke has got to start employing an extremely quick hook when Wolf and Marcum are on the mound. There's nothing to save Narveson for. Use him. He had a 1.20 ERA in 15 innings against the Cards this year.
  8. Has there ever been a bigger contrast between over managing and under managing? Roenicke's managing this game like it's April 12th. LaRussa's managing this game like it's the 7th game of the World Series. In the playoffs I prefer LaRussa's approach.
  9. I assume the Brewers are looking up at Aaron Rodgers when they point up at the stands. Do you know who they were pointing at yesterday? It looked like they were pointing up in Uecker's direction.
  10. That would have been ludicrous to PH for Marcum in the 2nd.Tell me why. What's the downside, besides "it's outside the box and Roenicke never thinks outside the box". If Lucroy knew a pinch hitter was on deck, he wouldn't have been flailing away 3-0 or 3-1 and may have worked a walk. If a competent pinch hitter or Hart delivers, it's a 2-2 game and Narveson is in the game, and it's a 50-50 game again. Again, tell me the downside.
  11. Would have liked to see a pinch hitter for Marcum in the 2nd with 2 guys on (and maybe 3 if Lucroy's approach would have changed with a pinch hitter on deck). Then again, McGehee is a worse hitter than Marcum at this point.
  12. 15 innings, 1.20 ERA, 3 walks, 11 K's. Any way he gets a start this series, especially with how poorly Wolf and Marcum have pitched recently? Or is he only going to get into a game when the Brewers are already down 5-0?
  13. I want to see quick hooks this series. If a guy is getting pounded in the first inning, bring in Narveson or Estrada. Each of these guys has had his moments during the season and even the postseason.
  14. Interesting that Cubs fans seem to be pulling for the Cardinals (in which case Brewers / Cardinals has definitely replaced Cubs / Cardinals as the #1 NL Central rivalry). Most just hate the Brewers, but one Cubs fan had the perspective that if Fielder goes on a tear in the NLCS, it will drive up the price the Cubs will need to pay him.
  15. We have 100% support from Reds fans in the Reds Zone. One guy over there said something a little positive about the Cards beating the Phillies and he had to immediately clarify that he'd never say anything completely positive about the Cardinals unless it involved getting rid of LaRussa or Carpenter. The hatred there is pure.
  16. I'd advise to enjoy the ride.
  17. Why would you not have Gomez lead off and stay in the game after Morgan's AB (assuming Gome is going in the 8th for defense)?
  18. Why would you not have Gomez lead off and stay in the game after Morgan's AB (assuming Gome is going in the 8th for defense)?
  19. K-Rod has about 10 million reasons to throw a shutout inning here.
