  1. 2 straight 2 out errors by Carolina puts runners on second and third. But Barnwell flies out to end it. Final score Carolina 4, Huntsville 1.
  2. Huntsville down 4-1 thru 8 innings.
  3. Huntsville down 3-1 thru 6 and a half innings.
  4. Not sure of the final score, as I had connection problems, but I do know the Stars did lose. Game 3 is tomorrow, at I believe 2 pm Eastern time.
  5. Hardy breaks up the no-hitter with a one out double in the 7th. His 5th of the playoffs. Gemoll follows up with a single to score Hardy. It's now 4-1.
  6. Saenz better be moving up in the Power 50 with his recent outings in Huntsville.
  7. Did anyone even take that part of the predictions seriously?
  8. That's what he says, but what he means is he wants a 5'11 RH High School relief pitcher. He likes to go against conventional wisdom.
  9. I can only assume you want a High Schooler.
  10. HAH! HAH! HAH! I WIN! EAT IT YOU HATERS! I assume being activated from the DL after 5 years will mean an automatic jump in the Power 50 for Mr. Gold?
  11. No, I'm his other brother Darrel. I am of the opinion that this board has far too few Newhart references.
  12. still agree with the basic concept that these guys need to become more model citizens(at least until the ink is dry on the contract). I'll use the comparison to Rev. Robinson who was ordained a Bishop of the Episcopal Church last night. The first openly gay Bishop in the church. Minutes before the original final vote on Monday, an email was released from a man who had met the Reverend at a conference claiming Rev. Robinson had peformed "inappropriate touching" and was compared to a "grab-assing skirt chaser". The vote was halted and an inquiry was performed. The conservative side of the Episcopal church was rather pleased by this turn off events, as they had for several weeks talked about how they had an Ace up their sleeve to prevent the vote from ever happening. As I listened on talk radio yesterday, I was stunned and the number of people who called up and said that the allegation itself was enough for Rev. Robinson to not be ordained as a Bishop. Regardless of whether he was guilty or innocent. It was his fault for what happened and he shouldn't be put in a position where he can embaress the church. Turns out, the only thing the Reverend did, was in a moment of compassion and concern for the man, he touched his bicep and his back to while answering some of his questions. Nothing more, and by no means nothing offensive. Nothing past an allegation was ever done to Milledge. If the police thought something criminal had happened, they wouldn't just stand by and let a 12 year old girl be harmed. To lay blame on Lastings is foolish and short-sighted. He may have done nothing wrong, and being that charges were never even brought against him I feel safe in assuming that that is the case. To me this whole incident says a lot more about the Mets organization then it does about Lastings Milledge.
  13. The thing is it never even went much past the allegation stage. They were made, he was expelled from his school, and nothing else was ever done. To me, it just looks like the allegations were foundless, but the school jumped the gun in expelling him, or just didn't want to take the risk. No criminal charges were ever brought, and nothing else happened. Since then he's been on his best behavior, which just convinces me more that the accusations were most likely groundless. For the Mets to act as if they knew nothing of it, and to also use it against him as a leverage ploy, is far worse then to me then some questionable accusations brought against him 2 years ago. Shoot, I'd even compare it to what the conservative branch of the Evangelical Church tried to pull this week. Pretty shameless in my mind.
  14. It doesn't affect free agency or arbitration at all. those are dependent on when he actually reaches the major leagues. But by signing a major league contract, it means he has a much shorter time to make the big league club then most prospects. Once his option years are up, if he isn't on the 25 man roster, we would have to expose him to waivers.
  15. Well, he was only 16 at the time. It's not like this just happened, and by all accounts he has been the model citizen ever since.
  16. It means he must be on the 40 man roster, and he starts burning option years right away. Since he is signing this late in the season, he will actually get an additional option year, so he will have 4 total.
  17. I would Brian is a little busy for most of the evening. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  18. Well what exactly is "sexual contact"? I knew someone who in middle school as a stupid joke pulled a girl's skirt down. He ended up being expelled and their was talk of him being charged with sexual assault for it. Without more specifics into what was exactly done, I think it's a little soon to label it as "heinous". Especially since he was never charged or investigated at all for it. And isn't this the same thing that caused his stiock to drop before the draft? How is it the Mets are acting as if they knew nothing at all about any of this? That causes me to raise an eyebrow.
  19. Would we even want him in the AFL? That would be a whole lot of innings on his arm, especially if the Brewers are seriously considering having him in the 2004 rotation come April. Checking his stats, he already has 25 more innings pitched this year then last year, with two months of the season left. Then if you toss on AFL or a Dominican league he could easily throw 100 more innings then last year. That just doesn't seem to be the most intelligent thing for an organization to do with a young pitcher.
  20. So what are your sources saying Brian? Are they any more accurate then Toby's? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  21. That would probably be about the saviest thing the Brewers have done in decades. Here's to hoping they realize that.
  22. Haven't the Brewers pretty much implied that Weeks will start out in Beloit? If Gwynn did, I can't see any reason why he wouldn't.
  23. Wes Obermueller, RHP (Royals to Brewers in Leskanic trade)The Royals drafted Obermueller in the second round in 1999 from the University of Iowa. Wes is now my third favorite prospect of all time, just behind Tim Costo and Danan Hughes.
  24. Can we cut Rickie open, look inside, and then use Scotch tape to cover up the fact that we cut him open? Now that's just silly. Everyone knows such an operation would require Duct tape.
  25. Well if they appeared in the game and didn't get a hit why shouldn't it be considered to have ended?
