  1. Unfortunately for me all I have is colbyjack on wheat, which would leave me feeling a little funny.
  2. What is it with you people, both Grieve and Ginter are statistically producing more this season than Jenkins, and are doing it at 1/20th the price. I know he's streaky, but the fact remains, you're just arbitrarily picking out guys when the entire team is slumping.
  3. So for all you guys calling for Ginters head earlier, what about our $23 million left fielder who's 0-5 tonight with 4 K's, haven't heard you guys mentioning him, funny that.
  4. This game is just coming up on two hours now. Quick game to say the least.
  5. If I'm remembering correctly he did the same exact thing during his last two rehab starts, first one was bad, second was much better, than the major league start was good. So no worries yet.
  6. Just as ESPN updates about the ongoing perfect game, he gives up a hit, we can't even catch a PR break.
  7. mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/ml.../index.jsp under the heading "Sights & Sounds" there's a Rogers pre-draft interview
  8. I'm on both mlb.com's radio & video broadcasts, both are going fine for me batman, so you should be able to go on the radio one (the radio one by the way is much better)
  9. You know it's kind of funny, as our team OPS has continued to fall as the bats cool off, the opponent OPS has fallen as well as our pitching has improved in step. In fact for the past couple weeks, we've had a consistent ~.010 difference between the two (in our favor). If we were able to go back to the offense we had a month into the season, yet maintain our current pitching performance, we'd be playing, statiscally speaking, playoff level ball.
  10. Vizcaino got the win on that one http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  11. We might be getting some clearing here in a couple hours.
  12. If that's their lineup lets hope this game actually gets played, the weather isn't looking too hot right now: www.weather.com/weather/local/USPR0087
  13. 6 innings so far, 2 ER, 7 strikeouts. Looks like he settled in nicely. Money says he spends some extra time at batting practice before his next start.
  14. Even with a run in 2/3 of an inning's work, his ERA is still only 3.38. Vizcaino has been doing well this year, having an off day doesn't concern me too much.
  15. People should be careful, you essentially have a pitcher who is unscouted by the big league teams, and hasn't been seen yet by these hitters. A darn good outing today, no doubt about it, but I think his anonymity was working for him as well. I think he earned himself a second look, but I look at this as a promising sign of his future performance. 93 pitches, 58 for strikes, very good, but that's not going to get you 0 runs every day.
  16. Bruce K. with the win, and he earned it tonight, striking out two critical batters with men at the corners. It's pretty darn hilarious seeing a guy like that continue to have success at the Major League level. I hate to say it, but I think the ole' nugget miner found himself a doozy.
  17. Yup, it's cleared up now though. Had to listen to the Astros announcers for a while. Thank goodness for Uecker.
  18. I'd like to see the stats line for the last 5 games played for each minor league player like they have at espn.com for the major league players. I'm not sure exactly how much extra data that would require, but I assume it's doable based on how you already collect the information for their overall stats. Also, squarepusher, I did some development in java for a couple of years, I was wondering if you'd ever be willing to let others see some of the code behind brewerfan, I've always been curious about what it looks like.
  19. In one of the cruelest hoaxes perpetrated on Brewerfan.net nation in history, the box score for this game, as too frequently is the case in the Arizona League, is "not reported". Argh! Talk about horrible luck. What kind of alternative sources are there? Can we get it directly from the Brewers? Maddening.
  20. rluzinski, there are things in this life that are best kept to yourself. That was one of those things.
  21. Even if the terms aren't the most advantageous, I think it reflects positively on both the Brewers and Weeks to get a deal done before the other 3 of the top 4. I won't read into it too much, other than to say the sooner he begins playing pro ball, the sooner he has a chance of making it to the bigs and contributing.
  22. I've got a feeling that the only thing keeping High Desert management sane right now is the fact that they can look at the two levels below them and know that many of those players will be in Maverick uniforms next year.
  23. Exactly colby, the kid has a fastball and a sinker, the chances of him developing a third pitch from scratch while in the majors is slim to none. You know that at that age/experience level he's in survival mode, and is just trying to use pitches he's comfortable with to make outs. He's not going to be up there testing out his changeup just to see what happens. And even if they do demote him after a poor start, what have they gained? Probably not much better production than any other average reliever, meanwhile they've started his arby clock. And if he does succeed? Well they've gained a reliever, true, but they've also wasted a valuable asset, a potential starting pitcher with major league stuff already, who could only get better with another pitch and more experience. It's an aggressive move, I'll give them that, but it stinks of publicity stunt. Cincinatti is 43-54, they're not trying to plug in that last piece to make a push for the postseason.
  24. Sutton is a hard person to read, sometimes I hear him extolling the virtues of modern statistical methods, then other times he just blindly backs up Schroeder as if he justs wants to avoid rocking the boat. I'd like to hear a Sutton with someone other than Bill Schroeder once just to see how the commentary improves, I bet it would. Its nothing personal against Bill, I just disagree with him about baseball.
