  1. only 66% of 1st round picks even step foot on a big league diamond. I'd be curious to know how many of those are pick 15 or greater. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1219356-examining-the-percentage-of-mlb-draft-picks-that-reach-the-major-leagues
  2. Home runs are way down this year I believe. Maybe they expect the "dead ball" era to continue and are placing a priority on contact and on-base skills.
  3. It might just be coincidence but it feels like the Brewers are drafting for high floor and then signing internationally for ceiling. I could be wrong, but Cardinals seem to draft for high floor every year and it works well for them...then they fill in holes with free agents/trades
  4. If that is his floor, I'd really like to know what his ceiling is.
  5. I think that's what the Dodgers theory is. Draft for hard contact and assume the power will come later.
  6. Well if you didn't like Eric Brown's offensive stats this year...
  7. doesn't look all that skinny to me
  8. Tampa was rumored to really like Eric Brown
  9. that would probably mean picking in the top 10 for a few years in a row
  10. This draft is such a crapshoot. I'm amazed people get upset about it.
  11. Maybe but I think there will be far more people that don't charge and run out of juice on the road than will re-charge after running to the store and back. Not to mention we're talking probably 10 and more likely 20 years from now. Technology may change by that point to more efficiency and longer run times.
  12. I think EVs would only put a strain on the power grid if everyone tried to charge at the same time which would never happen because you don't need to charge them every day.
  13. I find it hard to believe US Covid stimulus payments are causing global inflation
  14. MarJon's three point shot looks pretty good. Better than I expected given his stats: edit: guess Im not the only one
  15. not quite yet. End of summer.
  16. I like Dahl. Hope he gets picked up somewhere and can play in the bigs this season.
  17. Also in Transactions Thread:
  18. Thanks for the responses. The new house we're moving into has fiber and the previous tenant had AT&T. But I read somewhere that you have to lease their equipment in order to use it.
  19. anyone have strong opinions on AT&T Fiber vs Spectrum for Internet service? I don't need more than 500 Mb. I work from home and need fast internet but it's just me and my wife and we don't play video games and never stream more than one movie at a time.
  20. I was too young for F Troop, but I remember Larry Storch on pretty much every ensemble show from the 70's.
  21. Jakson Reetz C, OF What exactly do we have here? The 2014 3rd round pick of the Nats was a pretty nondescript player for much of his minor league career. Per MLB Trade Rumors: The Brewers signed him to a minor league deal this past off-season - a transaction most fans probably didn't even notice. But something in the Biloxi air has turned him into the second coming of Johnny Bench. Below are some of his offensive numbers with Southern League ranks in parentheses: HR: 22 (1) RBI: 58 (1) 2B: 16 (T9) SLG: 655 (1) OPS: 1053 (1) ISO: 368 (1) For context, the #2 guy in ISO is at 267 and the #2 guy in SLG is 579. He's lapping the field. Jakson does K quite a bit (26%) but it's not a major issue. Probably could walk a bit more too but again not awful (9.8%). His home/road power splits are pretty even(700 SLG at home, 611 on the road, exactly 11 HR and 8 doubles at home and road) lest you think the Biloxi stadium is giving him an advantage. He has consistently had an OPS over 1000 every month so it's not a one month fluke driving up his stats. He is 26 in AA so maybe a bit old for the league. So what is the deal here? Can we get excited about this guy? I think it's time for a promotion to AAA at the very least to see what he can do there.
