  1. No, a scholarship player would still be on scholarship. The only one left to make a statement though is Anderson, so won’t be much to sort out. If all the seniors came back for a year, then what? We can't have 18 scholarship players out there, right? Who's paying for the scholarship? There are two factors that control the availability of scholarships at the D1 and D2 levels. The NCAA scholarship limits per sport and whether or not the school is fully funded. For D1 fall sports, seniors who have scholarships and who will be using the extra year of eligibility will not count against the team’s scholarship limit for the 2021-22 season. The D2 level has not provided any waivers, so there is no potential for D2 programs to offer additional scholarship money for fall sports recruits. This does not mean a college will go over the limit of maximum scholarships. Each school will decide how many scholarships they can fund for each team depending on their budget. In a recent survey, 80% of college coaches said they do not plan on cutting scholarships as part of their budget cutting measures. For recruits pursuing an athletic scholarship, hopefully this means the maximum, and possibly over the maximum number of scholarships, will be available for the 2021-22 school year. Here is an example of how this could play out for a college team: A fully funded NCAA D1 FBS football team has a maximum of 85 scholarships. All D1 FBS scholarships are full-rides. For the 2020-21 season, the team has 25 seniors on scholarship. Let’s say all of these seniors get an extra year of eligibility. For the 2021-22 school year, this program could bring back up to 25 seniors and all of those seniors are eligible to keep their scholarships. If the school is able to fund the maximum number of scholarships it can for the 2021-22 school year, they could have 110 athletes on scholarships. That means 25 returning seniors and 85 others. The determining factor is whether or not a school can afford to give scholarships over the maximum. https://www.ncsasports.org/coronavirus-sports/ncaa-eligibility-coronavirus
  2. For the life of me, I will never understand the appeal of Krispy Kreme. It's a doughnut.
  3. My guess is they took a look at what was available in FA, saw it would either cost too much or require more years than they wanted to give, and decided to go with the devil they knew. Also, dropping King and expecting a rookie corner to match his performance is a massive risk (regardless of what you think of King). I'll be disappointed if they don't draft one to take over in 2022.
  4. Lab analysis says pine tar and grip substances increases fastball stuff by 10% and breaking all stuff by 20-30% so this is a big deal. We’ve also reported that this will be really tough to do, and MLB said they would crack down last year and caught one clubhouse attendant.
  5. That wasn't King's fault.
  6. Mitchell starting today against Buehler.
  7. I think King is average. His signing should in no way mean they avoid a CB in the draft.
  8. You realize that is LITERALLY the situation the Packers are hedging against right now, right? Have you actually looked back at Wilson's first two years in Seattle when the went to two Super Bowls on his rookie contract? Extraordinarily average. ~3200 yards, 26TDs, 10 INTS. Virtually identical stat lines in both years, and nearly the definition of average. If you can surround that stat line with a team that is very good everywhere else, you can win. If the Packers could assemble a Legion of Doom they'd never lose.
  9. Wisconsin is #1 in the nation in vaccine allotment utilized so that particular Walgreens with the extras was probably an outlier. "Wisconsin has administered the highest percentage of COVID-19 vaccines it has received, according to the CDC's COVID-19 vaccine distribution and administration data tracker." https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/public-health/states-ranked-by-percentage-of-covid-19-vaccines-administered.html
  10. A lot of those free throws were in the last 2 min when UW was fouling to stop the clock.
  11. I thought they played well in the 2nd half. There were 3 or 4 turnovers on really poor decisions and 2 or 3 mental lapses on defense in the first half and that more or less cost them the game. I am looking forward to having a couple of true point guards in the program over the next 4 years. The "Trice dribble in place 30 feet from the hoop for 8 seconds" play was infuriating. For next year, you've got Wahl and in addition to Davis, they'll have Bowman, Crowl, and Carlson from the 2020 class. I think Bowman and Carlson would have gotten minutes had they both been available and Crowl got a few min in the tourney. Apparently, they like how he's progressed. The 2021 class is really good so I assume a few of those guys will get minutes. Then you've got Hedstrom (meh), Jordan Davis (who I thought looked like a really nice shooter in the few games I saw him play) and Carter Gilmore (walk on from Hartland who had offers from some decent teams) who could see minutes. To me it looks like they lack shooters so it wouldn't surprise me if Davison stuck around.
  12. Oral Bob again!
  13. these refs are gonna call 40 fouls
  14. There's a guy on Baylor named Flo Thamba which is at least a 2nd team All Name, name
  15. I'm going to type this quietly but I think the Badgers matchup pretty well with Baylor.
  16. I could see Potter getting a look. Highly doubtful on Potter. He may be a look in Europe but that's about it. The only NBA potential on the team is Johnny Davis. he's a tweener. he'd have to rally 8morive his three point shot that's the reason I think Potter gets a look. He's tall and can shoot the three.
  17. I think Archie Miller would be a good hire.
  18. I could see Potter getting a look.
  19. Nah. Dante is a 2x the athlete
  20. Davison is en fuego
  21. They were a top 10 team at one point...and looked like it until they ran into Michigan.
  22. Looking forward to the Illinois/Loyola Chicago game. Loyola is a very tough 8 seed.
  23. Ha! I just texted my buddy "I hope Bo Boroski is watching to see how a game should be officiated"
  24. So far so good
