  1. OK, knock it off you two.
  2. Bucks match up well with Lakers...so far anyway. Lakers don't shoot threes very much at all and the Bucks are elite at defending in the paint.
  3. This isn't spray graph but close: Looks like he pulls from either side. Moreso from the left side.
  4. Shaw was K'ing 33% of the time last year too. He swung at more pitches outside the zone than Smoak and he swung and missed more than Smoak. So BABIP, like a lot of stats, is only good in context with other information.
  5. For his career, Smoak has a 695 OPS against lefties. Thames is 648.
  6. Healy goes to AAA, or Arcia is dealt. Maybe both. yup, it is appearing more and more like Arcia is a goner. Stearns said today he expects Urias to play SS (went on to say he could play 3B and probably 2B as well) so you might be right.
  7. Guys let's try and be civil. It's ok if someone likes or doesn't like this deal. Really, it's ok.
  8. Smoak isn't exactly flexible either. It seems pretty clear that they thought they could get the same if not better production for less than the $7.5 million option Thames was due. And on paper, today that was proven true. He's a switch hitter at least.
  9. I'm guessing the thing with Thames was that he was just kind of limited in where he could play and who he could bat against. If the Brewers were an AL team he's your all-time DH against righties. But he has to play the field and he's not that great in the OF or at 1st and he can't hit lefties. Stearns seems to cherish flexibility more than anything.
  10. If Smoak does a soft platoon with Braun/. This might be ok. At the very least you don't have to pinch hit for him late and he gets on base. With a little luck and a shorter porch in right he may reach 800 OPS again. And it's a one year deal. I'm still not enamored with it but it could work out ok.
  11. I'm not sure Smoak is a better defender than Thames.
  12. I don't know if this really solves anything. I know he was unlucky last year but still.....he's a switch hitter I guess?
  13. I'd bet Pack to cover +6 but not to win outright.
  14. I think the opposite seems to be true around here. Everyone seems to say "let's see... how can I find a way to convince myself that this is a really, brilliant move?" There is some merit to this... There are just as many here praising every move as there are ripping every move... I get the sense that most people are willing to give the moves a shot given the GM's track record.
  15. FWIW, he contract is pretty close to the Fangraphs predictions: Type Years AAV Total Kiley McDaniel 1 $6.0 M $6.0 M Median Crowdsource 1 $4.0 M $4.0 M Avg Crowdsource 1.37 $3.9 M $5.4 M
  16. I'm underwhelmed either way but if he's starting on the regular this is dumb. Edit: Unless Sogard had some radical change last year in his stance/approach whatever that leads the Brewers to think he'll continue doing the same thing going forward.
  17. Meh. How's his defense?
  18. Ohio State has signed 7 top 100 players. The rest of the Big Ten has signed 6.
  19. DS didn't sign Hoffman either. Didn't he pay 6 mil for Feliz though? I seem to remember a narrative about CC begging for a true closer option that flamed instantly. yes, that is correct
  20. I actually like quite a few guys on that Cubs team. I don't like that fact. Yeah it's not like the old days when they had Zambrano , Sammy, etc.
  21. This offseason can not be compared to those offseason's IMO. There are no Grandal or Moose out there to sign at all, let alone on a one year or short term deal. There is also no one comparably to Cain still on the FA market IMO. If there is a Yelich on another team to trade for (Lindor,Betts, etc), the Brewers don't have the farm system to be able to acquire them. Point being, it's early.
  22. Grandal signed on Jan 14th. Moose signed on February 17th. Cain signed on Jan 25th, Yelich trade was Jan 25th. It's December 18th.
  23. Haha, I responded to your other post and thought you deleted it. I was thinking about this last night. Given the $$ spent this year it's possible next year there will be some bargains in FA. Stearns zigs when others zag sort of a thing. Of course it's still very early this off season so I'd be willing to be he'd do a few one year deals for the right price like last year. But if Ryon Healy is a starting first baseman I won't be happy.
  24. That's a huge pickup. 2020 is a great class.
