  1. He never fit the mold of the kind of player Stearns is looking for; versatile. Saw the writing on the wall a while ago. Good luck, Scooter!
  2. I think it's debatable since the guy could run the baseline. If he was stuck in one spot then much easier decision.
  3. I don't think Happ fouled the guy on that three pointer. Floppage. Vitto did for sure though. That one was legit.
  4. The refs were horrible both ways but Florida's flopping sure made it seem like it was worse for UW. And UW has been one of the better teams at defending the three point shot since....well, since forever.
  5. Most efficient offense in the Ken Pomeroy era (since 2002) by FAR. Odd thing about the Duke game is that UW played their worst game on offense of the tournament that day. They were just pretty good instead of sublime. Defense played about the same as it had the whole tourney.
  6. Good lord what an ugly last possession for WVU. Hero ball to the extreme.
  7. I think the key will be Hayes and Happ. Florida's only "weakness" on D is giving up offensive rebounds. So getting the ball inside and converting second chances is going to be key. Florida does a really good job preventing three attempts which might take Bronson out of the equation or at least limit him. I like UW on defense though. Florida plays fast and they might have trouble playing a slower pace.
  8. Agreed. Strange things can happen in a lose and go home tournament and UW has struggled on either offense or defense at various times this year but they have a legit shot.
  9. I can't wait for the first negative post in the optimism thread!
  10. The defense is so much better since they essentially swapped Middleton for Parker.
  11. Well yeah everyone wants more than what they have unfortunately. Lucky for me I went to UW when they made the NCAA tourney for the first time in 40 years and the football team made the Rose Bowl for the first time in 28 years. I do not take the recent couple of decades for granted. The deck is really stacked against Wisconsin in those two sports. I'm doubtful they'll ever win a title in either. Hence I'm ok with being really good all time time.
  12. I think it depends on the program too. Wisconsin's consistent success is very satisfying to me. Yeah I'd love a national title but I realize the recruiting limitations they have (e.g. not many in-state 5 star recruits, high academic standards, etc.) makes that unlikely most years. They've built a program and a system that maximizes available talent.
  13. I think anyone would trade a couple of national championships for a few years of getting ousted the first weekend.
  14. I think he missed a big chunk of AAU time with an injury. That's when most of those scouting services rank those guys.
  15. "Elite" is subjective but I'd say Wisconsin is up in the top 10 - 15 for sure. The blue bloods get their pick of the McDonald's All Americans - Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, Arizona, and maybe UCLA - and basically have a shot at a national title every year based on who they bring in to that season's recruiting class. UW is in that next tier after those guys, IMO.
  16. This is literally the exact same thing every losing opponent of Wisconsin has said since the Dick Bennett era.
  17. Happ had two bad games and the refs did him no favors. Not enough to warrant a benching.
  18. Difference between a 10 point win and a three point win?
  19. It bothers me when people think wearing Packers and or Badger gear to a Brewer game counts as supporting the Brewers. No, it does not. I realize this is not the point of the post but I felt like venting. Sorry.
  20. Blackhawks are on fire.
  21. Nova shoots a ton of threes. If UW can limit their attempts and force them inside where UW has a height advantage it will help. Nice thing is UW is pretty good about limiting three point attempts so we'll see who's strength wins out. UW also gets a good share of offensive boards and Nova is just average at preventing that so UW"s bigs need to crash and get second chance points. Nova doesn't really foul much so hopefully free throws don't become an issue. I don't expect UW to win but I will be surprised if they lose by double digits.
  22. He was 8 for 17. Less than 50%. He shot 50% or better from three 12 times this season. He did not shoot the lights out.
  23. I think UW matches up pretty well with Nova. I'm expecting a good game.
  24. I think they need to see what they have in Brinson and Arcia/Diaz/Dubon before they trade Villar or Broxton.
  25. Datone Jones signs with Minny.
