  1. Gatewood has half as many walks as he had all of 2016.
  2. Shuckers score early, but drop series finale and series at Chattanooga CHATTANOOGA, TN - The Biloxi Shuckers scored the first three runs of Friday's game at Chattanooga, but the Lookouts scored the final six to win 6-3. The Lookouts took the series three games to two, and improved to 8-7 on the year as the Shuckers dropped to 6-9. Michael Reed started the scoring in the top of the first, launching his third home run of the season to give the Shuckers a 1-0 lead. Art Charles scored on a throwing error by pitcher Paul Clemens (W, 1-0) in the second, and George Iskenderian followed with an RBI fielder's choice to extend the lead to 3-0. Angel Ventura gave the Shuckers 3.2 innings in the start, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out one. The Lookouts chipped away at the early deficit with a two-run double from Engelb Vielma in the third and an RBI single from Ryan Walker in the fourth to tie the score at 3-3. Tayler Scott pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, but Taylor Jungmann (L, 0-2) ran into trouble in the sixth. After loading the bases on two walks and an error by shortstop Mauricio Dubon, Jungmann allowed a three-run single from Nick Gordon to give the Lookouts their ultimate lead. The Shuckers went 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position over the course of the game, and relievers Todd Van Steensel and John Curtiss (S, 2) pitched out of threats to keep Chattanooga's lead intact. Mauricio Dubon extended his hitting streak to five games with a 1-for-5 night at the plate. Dubon finished the five-game series 8-for-19 with a home run, six RBI and two stolen bases. The Shuckers return home on Saturday as they take on the defending Southern League champion Jackson Generals for a five-game series. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for 6:35, with the Beau Rivage Pregame Show starting at 6:15 on Cruisin' WGCM AM-1240/FM-100.9 and the Shuckers Radio Network. The game will also be available on MiLB.TV at biloxishuckers.com and TuneIn Radio. Saturday, the Shuckers will partner with March of Dimes for a benefit jersey auction. The jersey features a unique aquatic design, showcasing the beauty of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and was designed by Ocean Springs tattoo artist Matt Stebly. Saturday also features the second fireworks show of the season. The homestand continues with Family Fun Day and a ZOOperstars! performance on Sunday, Bark in the Park presented by Raising Cane's on Monday and the first Education Day of the year on Wednesday. 3. I agree if those two players were Kershaw and Scherzer. I don't see how we can really think we are a playoff team with our starting staff. I guess it depends on how high people are with the likes of Hader and Woodruff. Even if Hader and Woodruff were the #1 and #2 prospects in all of baseball, they threw 126 and 158 innings respectively last year. There's little chance they would be allowed to pitch much more than 160 or 180 innings this year which gets you to maybe early September.
  4. His hands definitely need some work. I think they're kind of small so I question how good a rebounder/post player he will become but as active as he is he can certainly defend the rim and even defend a 4 out on the perimeter.
  5. It's one thing to have a different opinion. It's another to bring up the same different opinion in each and every thread. The Khris Davis trade is long gone. There is literally no value to playing what if games about it anymore. And if you feel you are getting ganged up on feel free to send a mod a note and we will look into it. Having said that, there's no call for snark or condescension or whatever else you want to call it directed at another poster. Please stop that or we will start issuing warnings which could lead to a ban and given how the team is playing I think we all want to participate in the discussion throughout the season. Thanks.
  6. Any city south of the Mason Dixon doesn't deserve a hockey team.
  7. yeah that's what I was getting at
  8. Mixon also had an incident in high school. So teams are looking at something in addition to the one on video.
  9. I think it's one thing for fan's to speculate. It's quite another for players to do so.
  10. It's been 14 games - roughly two weeks. If either Broxton or Villar had this kind of run offensively in July no one would even notice. But since it's April and you see the 1 at the beginning of their batting average it stands out much more. You are kidding right? Villar is 8 for 60 and that wouldn't be noticed in July? If he were hitting say .280 through 350 ABs and went 8 for 60, his average would drop to .259. And I doubt many people would say anything. At that point people might start to at least keep an eye on him but even still...most people look at the current average rather than what the average was two weeks earlier.
  11. I remember when they only showed about 20 games a year and we had a 13" black and white TV
  12. Uh this guy is quikcly becoming my favorite person of all time: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2017/04/18/eric-thames-brewers-korea-god-home-runs/100592868/ “I came to Milwaukee before I signed, checked it out, and after an hour I knew it was where I wanted to be. I love the Midwest. I love the hospitality of people. And Milwaukee has great beer. “I love beer.’’
  13. Lackey couldn't spell PED if you spotted him the P and the D

  15. Given that the Braves have Freeman, I'd say no that really doesn't work. If they aren't worried about defense, Thames can play outfield.
  16. Still have a better record than the Cubs.
  17. Between Bandy and Pina Brewers most likely have the best OPS at Catcher in the majors right now.
  18. NBA? I forgot that that's still going on. How nice to have an employer that let's you leave your job to go work for someone else (most likely for much more money) for weeks at a time. If he's doing NBA playoffs he's got to be gone for at least a month, right? I think he works for TBS/TNT and they only have the first round which is over April 30th at the latest.
  19. Wind shifted this morning. It's out of the north east now and pretty chili. Might not be a lot of long balls tonight. (Watch Thames hit three now)
  20. Brinson , Isan Diaz didn't regress Brinson's K:BB ratios is 9:1 since he joined the Brewers organization. Thats not exactly progression. Its great that he's teed off in Colorado Springs but he needs some refinement to succeed at the MLB level that we have yet to see. Diaz was coming off the best OPS as a teenager in the pioneer league in nearly a decade (Billy Butler). Striking out a quarter of his at bats in A ball is troubling. Certainly he has enough positives to outweigh contact concerns at this point, but its not like those blossomed under the Brewers watch. You specifically used the word regression. Those players have not regressed - that means they got worse.
