  1. www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=616616 In the Doug Melvin interview after the pick of LaPorta, he talks about promoting Ford soon as well as where LaPorta might start out. Starts aroungd 4 minutes 30 sec.
  2. Colby, Any chance Burgess is still around in the 3rd? I doubt he will be but I know his stock has fallen of late. EDIT: Nats took him at 49. There goes that idea. I figured it'd be too much to ask for.
  3. And just to reiterate, he was hurt his junior year.
  4. I bet Atlanta grabs Heyward here.
  5. LaPorta is 6'2" 215 BDay is 1/08/1985 conflicting reports on which side he bats from. Scouting report says lefty but MLB draft tracker says R/R
  6. I'm going to reserve judgement on this one and trust Jack Z. I bet they stick him in left field. The system is woefully short on corner OF with power and this guy could come up and make an impact with the rest of the young guys that are already in the bigs. Having said all that....I'd rather have taken Heyward. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. I think the link behind Draft Tracker changed because it originally went to some scouting page and then switched to the actual draft tracker. In any event, we're there now......yay
  8. mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2007/draftcaster.jsp Here you go. I had to search for it.
  9. For an out of towner looking for bars, downtown is probably your best option. Other than the Ramada, there is a Holiday Inn, a Residence Inn and a Courtyard Inn downtown. If you want to stay at a nicer place, the Hilton, Hyatt, and Pfister are all nice. There's also an Intercontinental (used to be Wyndham) about a block from Water St. Another couple of neighborhoods in/around downtown other than Water St are Milwaukee St and Cathedral Square (corner of Wells and Jefferson). Both have a little bit of an older crowd (late 20's early 30's) relative to Water St.
  10. The fact that fans of other teams come here for their draft coverage is a testament to the effort Patrick puts into this forum. We are lucky to have him.
  11. Unless I missed something, I believe WV has the best record in professional baseball. I couldn't find a team with a winning % greater than .700 - second is fellow Sally League member Augusta at .695. And that record looks like it will only improve - they are up big today. Can Chuckie Holden Caufield be considered a prospect? Every time I look he's got two hits. He is a bit old for that league.
  12. MPS, I agree. Why let Villy bat if you aren't going to let him throw?
  13. Lord, Soriano is hitting .600 in June with a 1.800 OPS.
  14. I dunno. I think some people continue to do stuff until someone calls them out on it. Or maybe if enough people call them out they'll start to get the picture. In any event, it makes me feel better to at least question someone that parks in a handicap spot when they appear perfectly healthy. My mom really needs to park in those spaces.
  15. That really depends on the market. I think housing sales in general have picked up the last few months.
  16. Text ad in the upper right hand corner. Now it says Little League Fundraisers.
  17. I feel the same way about iron workers, people that eat too many trans fats, people that drive motorcycles, or people that join the military.
  18. How awful is our pen really? I mean, we can chalk up last night's loss to them I suppose but in reality the Brewers scored 2 lousy runs. Spurling's run in the ninth was meaningless. I'm not saying I think they are good but are they as bad as we make them out to be? How many leads have the Brewers lost due to the pen? I am interested in seeing the numbers rather than anecdotal evidence is all.
  19. Brian, Not sure if you have any control over the content of those Google ads, but right now it's for the Kim Kardashian sex tape. Are they user specific? In other words, if some little gremlin was on my computer looking at Maxim online, is Google smart enough to see that and tailor ads for me, er, the gremlin? I'm not a prude and I really don't care but having been here for a while I could see this being a potential issue so I thought I'd bring it up.
  20. No! I actually let out an audible sigh when I saw they weren't playing. I love that team.
  21. I'd like to point out that Bill Hall has started to really smoke the ball. I think he's due for a big month.
  22. True, but their minor league struggles were nothing compared to this.
  23. What I should have said was pressure of being a #1 pick when you weren't the best player in the draft.
  24. Mat Gamel's defense is just, well, just not good. 2 more errors today brings the season total to 26. I wonder how long a leash he has before they think of a position switch?
