  1. Paid $50 for $30 seats, got there after the Brewers scored all their runs, watched as the Cubs slowly crawled back into it.....and all the while I thought everything was ok until Ramirez came to bat. I told my friend "He's either going to K or hit a ding - ". Before I finished the sentence he had parked one in the bleachers. Then I ahd to go to a bar across the street and deal with all the Cub fans taunting me. The great thing was that my Brewers hat is non traditional and unless you get up close (or you are drunk) you can't easily tell its a Brewer hat. So people would come up to me and want to high five and I'd tell them to stick it. The shock and confusion that came over them almost made up for the loss....almost.
  2. I am going to play hooky this afternoon and try to scalp some tix to the game. If I can't get in, I'll just plop down at a bar and do some day drinking with my bright yellow ball-in-glove t-shirt. I have several bets going for this game - all of which involve beer (six pack if Brewers win the series, case if they sweep.) Hopefully my fridge will be well stocked come Monday morning. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Wind is out of ENE at 9mph so that may negate some power but I don't think it's gusting enough to make that big a difference. Probably be better for the Brewers if it was blowing out but oh well.
  3. I got this from my CBS Sportsline Fantasy page under Fielder's player news. I don't think I can link to it but I'll see if I can find this from another source. Nice to see that he doesn't want to just be a DH. EDIT: Oops, this article is in the article tracker thread. My mistake. Should have looked there first!
  4. I think the consensus is that Vargas is gone after this year.
  5. - happy with progress of his 'plan' to date. - Ned doing good job keeping team focused, yadda, yadda, cliche, cliche - very satisfying to see fruits of their labor come to bear this season. Mentioned Jack Z and Reid Nichols in particular as being instrumental to their success. - On being GM of a small market team: you are allowed to be patient with player development. Easier to build a team from the ground up. Can't do things like pick up guys off the scrap heap in a large market. They have to be very selective in their free agent pickups (and that). Also said it's a lot of fun watching players develop from high schooler to major leaguer. - Trading deadline: they have assurance from Mark A. that they can make a move if it will help the team. - Depth in minor league system: mentioned Parra's perfect game (guy that replaced Gallardo in AAA as example of depth). Said they would go to Manny as next call up if they had to make a move. - On Cubs' series: should be fun, yadda, yadda, etc. etc. - On Mark Buehrle: wouldn't give up players on current club (I assume he meant young guys because he mentioned Gallardo, Braun, and Hart). Sounded like they would part with minor league prospects if the right trade came along.
  6. Melvin will be on after the commercial break (i.e. in like 2 minutes).
  7. Milwaukee GM, Doug Melvin is going to be on 670 The Score later on this morning (I think in the next half hour).
  8. I have a friend that named their daughter Camden. Pretty sure she won't hit any homers at the Yards though.
  9. I knew someone that worked in the Brewers front office about three years ago and I was told it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that they were going to have to put in field turf at some point.
  10. Any place on Clark will be fun to hang out. I like Bernie's (Clark and Waveland) and Goose Island - just south of the park.
  11. I think those are actually his numbers against all teams - not just the national league (he's appeared in a lot of interleague games). But I think the point of your post was that he's awesome and I happen to agree. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. I don't claim to know a lot about roid rage but I think it's way too soon and convenient to be of the opinion that this is what caused this - and that goes for the cops too.
  13. I don't see why media coverage should have been any bigger than it was. Ueck only mentioned it in the bottom of the ninth. The tv guys are paying attention to the game not the minor league box scores. I would hope it would get some attention tonight but no big deal if it doesn't. Some guy for the Nationals had like a 44 game hit streak and that was only mentioned the day he got called up. The minors never get national exposure unless it's some extrordinary event (like that goofy manager going on a rampage a few weeks ago or some guy running through a wall). Nice job, Manny.
  14. I wonder who will be at the top of BA's Hot Sheet next week?
  15. Last guy in the minors with a perfect game?
  16. Woo Hoo! Dominating performance by Parra!
  17. Jenkins hit a screamer that Berkman looked like he'd catch but it went over his head. Ueck actually sounded like he was going to call it a catch and then changed his tone in a hurry. Estrada had to hold - probably thought the same thing as Ueck.
  18. Anyone really care that they are walking Hardy to get to Braun? I don't.
  19. If the Crew hangs on and wins, is that enough for a Ben Sheets all star berth? I think it probably does.
  20. Parra now with 8Ks and 0BB through 6IP. It'd be great if he could stick as a starter but I'd take him right now in the Brewers 'pen.
  21. Pence and Braun could go down to the wire for ROY. How cool would it have been if the Brewers could have signed him when they drafted him?
  22. Parra with a great start so far. 4IP 0ER 6K 0BB
  23. The one where Harry Potter was trying to have sex with every woman was pretty funny too.
  24. Not sure I want Estrada batting in front of the pitcher. He has the plate discipline of Jabba the Hut......they could throw him junk all day and he'd flail and hit dying quails to the SS/2B.
  25. Will Inman with a warning for Tennessee hitters
