  1. Ryan Braun has a .941 OPS. He completes me. The team looks like they are snapping out of their offensive funk.
  2. A lot of times you'll see non compete clauses when a company signs a big deal with another company. For example, we sell $10,000,000 worth of software to a company, there is usually some language in the agreement that says no one from my company can go work for them and no one from there can come work for us until the terms of the contract are met.
  3. You could also park near the Brown Line and take that to Belmont and transfer to the Red (or just get off at Belmont and walk - it's like 1/2 a mile to the park) Any Brown line stop south/east of Kedzie is in a really nice neighborhood ( I think the governor lives near the Francisco stop). I live really close to the Western stop and you should be able to find street parking on game day no problem. Just exit I94 at Peterson, go east to western and hang a right. The stop is actually above Western Ave about 1.5 miles south of Peterson.
  4. That's sort of what concerns me. I'm sort of a niche segment of the software industry.
  5. Now that is a sentence I find offensive.
  6. Apparently she was suicidal? I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for her. Now the fat guy from Shawshank....I felt bad for him.
  7. That would shock me. I think he's ticketed for West Virginia to start with. I really doubt the Brewers have plans to use him this year unless he signs a major league deal. Also, Brantley skipping BC is pretty surprising. Is this more a numbers thing than performance? Good for him if it's the latter.
  8. I'm far from a scout but did his motion look kind of 'hectic' to you, Doug? I think they'll calm down his delivery in the pros.
  9. I work in the software industry and have been contacted by a direct competitor to interview for a job. Has anyone ever gone through this? I feel a little like I'm stabbing my company in the back if I choose to leave - not to mention I'd be leaving my little group in a bind resource wise.
  10. Well he's really not a 3TO because he doesn't strike out all that much.
  11. jwill, Did you post the thick comment or is that from a scout? Anyway, thanks for posting the updates. I have to work occasionally. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. Umm..... These scouting reports on body type always crack me up. Mark Rogers had a "high rear end."
  13. I bet LaPorta replaces him in WV. Good luck to Darren - this is the first of many moves I expect to see over the next week or two.
  14. I did see LeCroy's name associated with LaPorta somewhere. Not sure if it's because they are similar players or because they have two capital letters in their last names.
  15. Ah that's right. I forgot about Opdyke.
  16. Brewers took a catcher from Ohio St in round 10. When's the last time they took two catchers so early?
  17. Funny you mention Swisher because that is who came to my mind immediately after the pick was announced. High OBP, lots of power....I wasn't sure how athletic Swisher was coming out of college though so I didn't say anything. Swisher was a college guy and he turned out OK.
  18. Brewers select David Fonseca in 8th round R/R SS LA Pierce College Brewers select Kristian Bueno in 9th round LHP, Calallen HS, TX Hey, there's the high school pitcher we were looking for! EDIT: Actually, the Puerto Rican kid was from high school too.
  19. Brewers took another lefty pitcher in round 7. Efrain Nieves from a Puerto Rican HS. Wonder if he's related to Juan? EDIT: They are flying through these rounds now.
  20. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/images/2007/05/16/WIYrSjhl.jpg Daniel Merklinger L/L LHP, Seton Hall Focus Area Comments Fastball: Merklinger's fastball is well below-average. FB Movement: He does throw a four-seam and two-seam fastball with decent action. He could have future-average life. Curve: It could be his best pitch and projects to be an average pitch in the future. Changeup: His changeup is below-average right now, but projects as an average offering. Control: He's generally around the plate, but his command overall is below-average. Poise: His overall makeup is fine. Physical Description: Merklinger has a body type similar to Steve Kline. Medical Update: Healthy. Strengths: The curve has the chance to be a pretty good pitch. Weaknesses: While he generally can throw strikes, his stuff is all below-average. Summary: Considered one of the better pitching prospects in last year's Cape Cod League, Merklinger has been a bit disappointing in his junior year. The southpaw has been showing below-average stuff and his command hasn't been sharp enough to make up for it. Still, he's a college lefty who has shown the ability to pitch in the past. He could be a No. 5 starter or a lefty specialist, especially if his breaking stuff can continue to improve.
  21. That was one scout making one comparison. I've heard him compared to Albert Pujols as well.
  22. To clarify my position on the issue: I don't expect questioning a jerk that parks in a handicapped spot to stop being a jerk. I just hope that he thinks twice next time he tries to park there. If some feel that is a waste of time so be it.
  23. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/images/2007/05/21/Xpdt2c9K.jpg Jonathan Lucroy, C, U Louisiana Lafayette Hitting Ability: Lucroy has an average bat with a line-drive stroke. Power: While more of a line-drive hitter, he does have some raw power and should have average power in the future. He's got very strong hands. Running Speed: He's a below-average runner, but isn't bad for a catcher. Arm Strength: He's got an above-average arm. Fielding: Lucroy is an excellent receiver with good defensive skills across the board. Physical Description: As a strong backstop, Lucroy reminds some of Michael Barrett or Mike Lieberthal. Medical Update: Healthy. Strengths: Good line-drive stroke, excellent defensive skills behind the plate and natural leadership ability. Weaknesses: How much power he actually has will determine just how bright his future is . Summary: Lucroy is a pretty good, if lesser-known, all-around catching prospect. He has a good line-drive stroke and has the chance to hit for average with some pop. Defensively, he is a natural leader who throws extremely well. Those who look for college catching in this draft should surely take a look at Lucroy.
