  1. I second Murderball. It's a terrific film.
  2. At first glance it looks like there are going to be more than a few low run scoring games for the Stars. That offense coud be brutal.
  3. Hey, who's Josh Pike of Antigo? My mom's from there.
  4. Yep. Went on a date...got drunk....she got more drunk than me......I'm in love.
  5. Yes it rained and everyone got really wet since the only place to escape the rain at most of that stadium is in the bathrooms. JJ Hardy was throwing some mean knucklers to Bill Hall during pre game.
  6. I just rented a movie called Following which was pretty decent. It was made for nearly nothing and was the first movie by Christopher Nolan (Memento). Interesting film noir about a guy who follows people out of boredom. Eventually, he follows the wrong person and "stuff happens". Interesting use of the camera especially given the severely limited budget.
  7. I'm hamboned.
  8. Ladies and gentlemen.......Homer is plowed.
  9. I'm going to Nashville this weekend. I'll see how the man on the street is reacting to the news. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

  11. Colby, From the looks of your top 30, it seems very pitching heavy. Is the distribution of pitcher to position player normally this one sided or does it just depend on the draft class?
  12. Interesting stuff, Jeff. This will come in handy while researching my late round fantasy 'nuggets'.
  13. I second Grizzly Man. In fact, I just finished watching it tonight. Wonderful look at a really disturbed individual that you can't help but pity. One of the most powerful documentary scenes since Hoop Dreams involves Herzog himself simply explaining what he hears on audio to one of the movies central figures. Terrific stuff.
  14. I agree on Open Water. It was a decent rental. I liked the ending simply for the fact that it wasn't 'normal'. I may get ripped for this, but I found Skeleton Key a good rental too. Maybe it's that I just enjoy movies too much or maybe I just enjoy Kate Hudson. In either case, this has one of those twists at the end that made it worthwhile. I felt stupid for not seeing it coming, but it made me review the whole movie in my head afterwards. Any movie that I need to think about after I'm done watching is usually a good one to me.
  15. I moved to Chicago about five weeks ago and this is my first drunk post. Man, are there an unreal amount of HOT women down here. God Bless.
  16. Is it possible to show some defensive stats when you click on a player's name in the Player Index? Errors would be enough for me. It's nice to know how the young guys are doing at a glance.
  17. I've posted this before, DHonks.... Wood couldn't hit the ball out of hte infield when he was a soph in high school, but he started on a 'Core' workout program with Mark Verstegen (also trains Nomar) and his power went up a hundred fold.
  18. Colby, I started a Brandon Wood thread a few months back. He's been working out with the same guy that trains Mia Hamm, Mary Pierce, Nomar, Rock Fox, etc. in Tempe, AZ. Apparently he was so weak when he was a sophmore in high school that he could barely hit the ball out of the infield. He generates tremendous power on what is still a relatively thin frame. I look forward to following his career going forward. Seems like a really nice kid too.
  19. I don't mind bunting, but it's got to be the right batter in the right situation. When the Brewers were playing the Astros a few weeks ago, Brady let off the game with a double. Yost promptly sent Cirillo up to bunt him to third. To me, this is just not a good move. Why go for one run in the first inning? Had they needed one in the 7th or 8th that would have been fine.
  20. Is there any guy in that pen that we really trust other than Turnbow?
  21. I haven't had time to look it up, but Davis seems to have had a really impressive second half. Second in the league in K's for a lefty? Who'da thunk it?
  22. Hardy has the second highest OPS since the All Star break of among regular SS in the NL. Bill Hall is like 13th.
  23. Actually he's been average to very good the entire second half while Hall did most of his damage in the first half. One reason is because most people on this board look at stats other than batting average to determine hitting prowess. Hall was very good in the first half (OPS of .846) and pretty average to below average in the second (OPS of .726) (For comparison sake, Hardy was .560 pre and .851 post) I agree with others that defense is best judged by the eye, but there are some stats we can look at for comparison sake. Hall has 6 errors in 242 chances at SS (2.48% ) Hardy has 10 errors in 375 chances (2.67%). FP% Hall .975 Hardy .973. I think most people would agree Hall has more range and a better arm than Hardy, but they seem to be pretty equal when it comes to balls they reach. I don't think you can say one guy is that much better than the other, really. I wonder how you'll respond to the actual facts I've presented on Bill Hall. I agree. It defies logic that you are creating an argument against a player that A) is not stealing time from the player you are in favor of and B) has outproduced the player you are in favor of at the plate over the course of the last three months and equaled his performance in the field over the duration of the entire season.
