  1. Laptops are notorious for this problem. You really have to be careful when plugging in/unplugging the ac adapter. I used to repair Gateway laptops and the models I worked on were especially bad. What happens is the solder joint breaks, and then the dc-in board, which is often built into the motherboard, has to be replaced unless you are really good with electronics soldering. As for battery life, the best way to get maximum life out of your battery is to use it regularly. Charge it until it's full, and then unplug it until it's close to empty. Leaving it plugged in when it's full is actually bad for it. I always say it's like lifting weights - the more you lift, the stronger you get, and the more you use the battery, the stronger it is too.
  2. That's what she said. (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

  4. If you have access to a Mac, use iMovie/iDVD. It's by far the easiest to use and makes nice presentations. Windows Movie Maker (included with XP and Vista) is pretty decent too, just not quite as easy to use as iMovie. I've used both, and both will do a good job. I've heard that Pinnacle software for PC is very good but never used it myself, but you'd have to buy that one.
  5. I am a big Corey Hart supporter; it would take a lot to pry him away if I was GM. Yeah he struggled mightily down the stretch, but I think it would be a HUGE mistake to give up on him. I expect a big year out of Corey in '09.
  6. Yeah, I gotta believe that 80 is absolute minimum. I would think a good arm like JJ is 90 minimum.
  7. Nope, not married but I do have a son who is with me 50% of the time. Thanks.
  8. Yes, I've been thinking of starting up something on my own and now is probably the time to do it. Does anyone have any good links or tips on how to start a small business? I'd need to read up on things like how to actually regtister a business, how to handle taxes, liability insurance, etc. Anything else I'd need to know that you guys can think of? Also how to get my name out there - I'll put up a website obviously but do you think sending out flyers to local businesses maybe would be the way to go? Thanks for your help/advice!
  9. Hey guys, just looking for ideas. I recently lost my job and am looking hard, but there's not much out there right now. I'm in the La Crosse area. Wondering if anyone know of any work-from-home internet jobs that are legit? I see ads for them all over, but after digging into them they all seem like either a scam or very difficult to make a decent amount of money. I have a management/IT degree and have been working in IT for several years. Nights and weekends are tough for me since I have my son most of the time. Any ideas, I'd appreciate hearing them. Thanks!
  10. I have one ticket for the sold out game next friday 9/22. I was stupid and spent $40 for it on Stubhub thinking this game would mean something, but face value is only $20 and I can't go anyway. I'll trade it straight up for a Corey Hart bobble if someone has an extra. Or $20. Section 426, row 8. PM me or email dslama@gmail.com. Thanks!
  11. I have a feeling we won't be seeing much of Eric Gagne from here on out, except in a blowout maybe. And yeah, maybe Gallardo looked good in AZ and is ready to step in now.
  12. My take: I have generally been a supporter of Ned and I think he did a great job for the most part. However, I think it is time to bring in a more hard-nosed guy that will challenge his players a bit more. I like the Sveum move for now because I think it would be a big mistake to bring in someone from the outside and expect to win right away not knowing a lot about the players yet, and I would guess that Simmons didn't want it anyway since he and Ned are such good friends from what I've read. Really though, I don't think this was as much a move to replace Yost, but rather just a move to hopefully kick the players in the rear and get them going again. I doubt Sveum will be back as manager next year unless we win the pennant, but who knows. I don't know any more than what's posted here, but bringing Yount in as bench coach would make sense, he and Sveum are tight and Yount knows a lot about these players. With all that said, I hope that an experienced and proven manager is brought in next year. I'm gonna throw out a name here and probably get heat for it, but how about Joe Torre? He has Milwaukee ties and is a highly successful manager and commands respect. He has said he still has friends in Milwaukee, and maybe he's not in love with the LA lifestyle. Or maybe he is. I also would be happy with Valentine or Brenly.
  13. My advice to the Brewers and Ned is realize you are not part of the past 26 years of questionable baseball. I agree with this, and I'd guess that the team itself probably realizes this. It's the fans, local media, and the Brewers marketing department that won't let it go.
  14. Absolutely. Yeah I might have had better luck posting these about a week ago, huh?
  15. I have two pairs of tix for the Brewers-Pirates game next Wednesday 9/24 that I'm not going to be able to use. Loge infield box Section 211, row 18, seats 9&10 - $36 for both Loge infield box Section 225, row 15, seats 15&16 - $36 for both PM me if interested. My dad got some kind of discount on them, I believe they normally sell for $36 each but he got them for $18 each and the face price is $18. (edited to reflect correct month. Though how many of us would appreciate a Brewers time machine, in general? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif - hawing)

  19. I was very impressed with the speed on things like web-based email, but I did run into a few minor issues on some sites. Overall it seems nice, I'm sure the final product will be great.
  20. I still completely believe in Prince. I just think that after last year, other teams know his weaknesses are are pitching him differently. He's an outstanding hitter and he will adjust, it's just a matter of time.
  21. That hairdryer could be replaced with a newer model that uses less juice. That might take care of it. Wait, why would your tv be on the same circuit as the bathroom? That's probably not ideal. Also, I always suggest with expensive electronics to use a battery backup rather than a surge protector. You can get an APC battery backup at any office supply or electronics store for $40-80, depending on the wattage your particular model uses. That won't solve your issue, but it might protect the tv from damage. Also check to be sure you have the right size breaker/fuse. It should be either 15 or 20 amp. 15 if the circuit uses 14 ga wire, 20 if 12 ga.
  22. How about Barney on How I Met Your Mother? and speaking of NPH, how about Doogie Howser?
  23. How about the AFLAC trivia question on FSN? I kinda like that one, although it's usually a pretty easy question.
  24. Prairie du Chien Blackhawks Most famous Alum is probably Scott Gillitzer, SS for UW-Milwaukee and drafted by the Dodgers. http://www.pdc.k12.wi.us/highschool/pdc.gif
  25. When I was in high school, I worked summers for a plumbing company. Naturally I got the worst jobs, like digging ditches and cleaning out plugged sewers (you don't want to know about the stuff I would pull out). The worst was a sewer that had backed up in the basement for an elderly couple, and they didn't know it for a few days since they rarely went downstairs. Of course it was 95 degrees and no AC. The basement was carpeted to boot, and there was an inch or two of sewer throughout the basement that had been there for three days. Luckily after I had it unplugged, I was able to leave. I feel bad for whoever cleaned out that basement.
