  1. I agree with these suggestions, if that means anything.
  2. My money is also on Oakland.
  3. Why don't we just keep Mench, Clark and Jenkins this year, don't sign any FA's and lose 90 games again, seems par for the course. In my opinion, if our lineup is left intact with no major additions, we will be a bit better next year assuming the injury situation is better. However, I don't think we would be a serious competitor for a playoff spot unless the league is down again next year as it was this year. I think that the following positions are pretty set in stone: 1B, 2B, SS (Either Hall or Hardy, we just aren't privy to that info yet). So if we are to make a major addition is has to be either 3B or OF. We're fairly certain Hart will be in the OF, and many seems to think Hall will also with Hardy starting at SS. So I think there is almost no chance that either Jenkins, Gross, Mench, or Gwynn will be a starter next year.
  4. Wait a minute, I thought we had determined that clutch doesn't exist?......Sorry, had to pull that one out. Seriously, I have never been a Jenkins supporter, and one game isn't going to change my mind. It does, in my opinion, make a huge difference having him bat sixth or seventh, however. I have no problems with a six or seven hitter like Jenkins; just don't want him batting third or fourth again. Sweet win tonight though.
  5. That's not quite accurate. Most above average hitters are generally given the go ahead to swing on 3-0 if they get a fastball right in their wheelhouse. And 90%+ of 3-0 pitches are fastballs, so it's not exactly a rare thing to swing on 3-0. If it's not right there, it is generally taken whether it is a strike or not.
  6. Seidel got shelled yesterday in the state sectionals for five runs in the first inning by La Crosse Logan. I've heard his plan is to accept a acholarship to Arkansas.
  7. haven't seen this elsewhere.... sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/baseball/mlb/06/05/mlb.mockdraft/index.html?cnn=yes has the Brewers taking RHP Joba Chamberlain from Nebraska.
  8. I saw Lord of War recently and thought it was very entertaining. I admit I don't pay a lot of attention to the acting, I watch just to be entertained and this film did not disappoint.
  9. I second the idea to put it online somewhere. I don't have ESPNews. Thanks and congrats!!
  10. This is 2006. Live in the now, man.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. Edit: Forget it, I should have read all the rules. Looks good.
  12. In case you're not aware of this: United States Newspaper List
  13. I just signed up. I've been here since the beginning of BF time, so I figure it's about time.
  14. I guess when I see a post that I feel simply isn't true I feel like SOMEONE should post the truth. I'm not talking about something up for debate, like whether base stealers distract the pitcher enough to hurt his performance. More like when someone says,"doubles are better than HR's because they don't kill rallies" or "Ben Sheets isn't a winner." Stuff like that is complete rubbish and letting it go without commenting at all seems to perpetuate ignorant statements like that. Both of the statements you use as examples are, in fact, debatable. I don't agree with either one of them and in fact think both ideas are silly, but an argument can be made for both. I won't do it though. I probably wouldn't bother even replying to statements such as these because at the end of the argument, it still comes down to opinion. I don't like to get involved in these types of discussions, I guess I don't take this board as seriously as some do, I just wanted to point out that "truth" is a pretty tough thing to prove when you're talking about baseball. As for statistics, I believe every statistic out there is flawed in some way (some more than others), and no stat should be taken as the absolute "truth" about a player.
  15. worst case, Tommy John or Rotator cuff Best case, strain, contusion middle of the road, muscle tear. Tommy John is the elbow, not the shoulder. That is the extent of my medical knowledge.
  16. gameday is saying its his arm...
  17. I saw it on TV, I think it was clearly a balk. Stanton's right foot moved back toward second base, which is illegal (if a pickoff attempt is going to be made). The reason Rickie was burned so bad was because that is one of the cues that baserunners are taught to look for. When the lead foot moves back toward second base, the pitcher is committed to throwing the pitch (or else its a balk).
  18. Is it just me, or does Miller seem to be letting a lot of balls get by him thus far? There was the one just a few minutes ago that allowed the runners to move over, but I remember seeing it hapen a few times Friday on seemingly easy balls to catch. Maybe it's just the learning curve needed to adjust to a new pitching staff, but it seems to be happening an awful lot.
  19. I'm disapointed in the Rogers pick, as I have a major preference for college pitchers over high schoolers. It's just very hard for me to come up with a good list of high school pitchers that lived up to their draft-day hype, much less make it to the bigs without a major injury. I think college pitchers have a better idea of how to pitch to good hitters, as usually highschoolers have rarely faced a real hitter.
  20. Just wanted to give a shout out to my boy Matt Kinney after a great start tonight. Way to go!! I may be alone here, but I still think he will be a solid #2-3 before long.
  21. Just out of curiosity, I'd like to know the what OS's are used among the BF.net crowd. Thanks.
