  1. I probably should catch Impostor one of these days, to see how badly they screwed up one of Dick's great stories if nothing else. It's not terrible, but they throw out the PKD ending for one that's far less humanistic, and for the sake of this thread, far less ambiguous. I would really like some indie filmaker give "We Can Build You" a try. now that one's ambiguous. low budget on the special effects too. Just need someone who looks a lot like Lincoln.
  2. now how exactly do you score THAT? e-5 for sure
  3. Even though I am a huge NJ Devils fan. I would have to say that they are the most boring dynasty ever. If hockey even counts. 3 cups in 8 years and 1 year they lost in 7 to colorado. Dynasty esque. But BOORING!! How dare you say that about a team with Anchorage, Alaska's very own Scott Gomez! http://www.alaskajournal.com/images/012206/7698_512.jpg
  4. actually that was a pretty straight up interpretation. Much better than Minority Report. It was a lesser story to begin with so the payout was limited, but not worse in my opinon than Speilberg/Cruise destroying a PKD masterpiece.
  5. yeah, exactly what I'm referring to, because the alternative is simply an EXTREMELY strong coincidence and I don't know if I like that. With everything else it's a chicken and the egg problem: Did he choose a brunette because he sort of remembered her or was she a brunette because that's what he chose...ect... Ahh yes . . welcome to the world of Philip K. Dick. Sadly only Speilberg could screw his work up.
  6. What do you mean coded? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://www.datastronghold.com/downloads/homer2.gif.hta.gif

  8. i have never been happier to see neifi perez.
  9. Turnbow seems a lot better with Miller behind the plate.
  10. There's another power bat, if it wakes up. Ya Gotsa love billy hall!
  11. was that mench vs a rhp? did anyone tell ned you CAN substitute in an AL park?.
  12. Remember last year when everybody denigrated El Caballo's RBI numbers as a team stat Remember last year when we weren't in 1st with a winning record? EDIT: also remember when Carlos signed that $150 million contract?
  13. Chuck went off because I wore my Power shirt today. Maybe if I just plunk down the dough for a Jersey with his name on it he wouldn't be so spotty. But of course that's the reason I fell in love in the first place. VIVA LA FERMAINT!
  14. I love watching Verlander pitch. He's a strike machine.
  15. I remember as a kid loving the ending to The Italian Job. One of my Fav's .. . . "Okay, I've got an idea." Roll credits. Brilliant!
  16. How can that be enforced? What are they going to do, fire ya? In my business 6 month non-competes are standard in contracts and are very serious. companies will make your life hell and often back another company down from hiring you for fear of a legal battle after they commited to you verbally, leaving totally twisting in the wind.

  18. Lucroy reminds some of Michael Barrett Lets get the pitchers some head gear and keep a clean fight.
  19. I like the pick quite a bit because it addresses the organization's biggest need which I brought up a few days ago: Power. How is he different than Errecart? I see this as a no risk budget pick. Either he signs for slot and becomes a trade/depth asset, or we get another pick next year higher than where we would normally pick (hopefully). One basic premise of Moneyball is to look hard at areas that are being undervalued or overlooked by traditional or prevailing norms. College seniors are often perceived as being sloppy seconds because if they were top tier they'd have come out as a junior. Actually they are viewed as easy signs because they have less leverage.
  20. And if Aumont is the pick, remember, it's not my fault Sure, blame Canada! http://ec.europa.eu/education/img/flags/canada.gif
  21. Well I think the Dodgers are "done" with him after the Hochevar mess, but often "big money" teams like the Cardinals and Mariners stay away from him too simply because they prefer spending their budgets on Major League players. And I think the Cubs will pass after all the money they passed out this spring. It's the Arizona/White Sox/Rangers of the worlds that often end up dancing with him. We'll see if the new signing deadline has ANY effect whatsoever.
  22. I'm feeling a Wieters - Boras induced drop to double digits.
  23. One Hundred Years of Solitude By Gabriel García Márquez Just a masterpiece, IMO. Powells has an English 1st edition, if anyone has a spare $1,300 to throw around. www.powells.com/biblio/2-9781112999550-0
  24. I have to say that One Hudred Years of Solitude is probably the greatest fiction book ever written. My vote would go to Ellison's Invisible Man, but maybe that's me. And I LOVE Marquez. I still love Richard Rhodes' Making of the Atomic Bomb. http://www.longitudebooks.com/images/book_large/USW231.jpg It's fairly perfect.
