  1. She has an excellent eye. What's the equipment like? And yes I'm referring to her camera. Brewer related and bored at work . . . . http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2087/1696387311_2d5d11e57b.jpg
  2. couldn't have happened to a better guy. Add in to that Brett Boone recent admission that he would down 12-16 beers after a game and you begin to see how the 2004 Mariners lost 99 games.
  3. Your girlfriend has more talent than you. No shock there. I relish and admire any picture of the Twin Cities in ruins. And for a pictoral battle? I just bought a house this week, I haven't taken a pic in about a fortnight . . so I'll go old skool on ya. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2151/2110115696_81d588d825.jpg
  4. Don't get me wrong. It's still muddled and oddly paced, it's just the solution makes every sense in the world. Also, Bekmambetov knows how to use CGI in his favor rather than his detriment. Perhaps I just haven't seen anything remotely as good in this vein in awhile. It's slightly better than Transformers.
  5. Just watched Day Watch, and boy did I like it. The first movie was just okay in my book, stylistic and sharp but kinda two dimensional. But the end of the second movie is just transcendent. I actually wish they just end it there rather than coming up with a third film. Love, love, loved it.
  6. I don't know, I thought he was really believable in that role of the succesfull TV actor who went completely nuts moved to Canada so that he could run for US President on the "I am Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan" ticket. Oh wait . . . . that's real? http://www.mmuuuhp.com/jackryan.htm
  7. I would like to point out that there were TWO hits in that game and the other belonged to Vinny Rottino. Kinda sad he's not even mentioned. The juxtoposition between those two players, to me is as interesting as Gwynn's Padre connection.
  8. JJ Putz has AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" Derivative but effective. EDIT: I think Rage's "Wake Up" would be a solid choice
  9. I recall watching a game on MLBTV last year with the Houston crew and they offered this insight on Estrada . . . "Scouts are in complete agreement about Johnny, He just keeps getting fatter and lazier." Methinks that they might have something there.
  10. with these established league, many of these teams actively play for next year when plans go awry so coming in cold is certainly a disadvantage. Especially in the auction when you don't know bidding patterns. It's a lot like poker. A lot of the times the teams that are "vacated" are the ones in the middle, who need two or three years of attention to guide back. Building is half as fun as winning (or so I hope, 3rd is the best I have finished, which was still a nice little payday) In my league, which I have been in for 8 years now, one team has changed hands 5 times and is middle to bottom every year simply because of lack of direction. And that said, we have SEVERAL teams (4, I think) open this winter if anybody wants to give this style a go. Classic Roto 4x4, NL only, $130. Phone Auction. My best friend and I have been in the league for a while and have more fun playing against each other than anybody else.
  11. I have got to say I HATED Pac-Bell (ATT now?) when I went there last summer. Drunk, dumb fans. They actually serve hard alcohol inside the park, so LOTS of people get totally hammered. Started chanting "over-rated" to the Pirates. The Pirates were the only team WORSE than the Giants at that point. The park itself does everything it can to draw your attention AWAY from the field, exactly the opposite of Safeco.
  12. The key is freshness. The best fish is usally one that was swimming 5 minutes before. Here in Seattle, the State of Alaska has a sweet marketing gimmick with something called "Copper River Salmon" that they charge through the schnoz for. It's really no "better" than any other alaskan salmon, It's just not flash frozen and instead simply kept cold and air freighted into town. When I lived in Minnesota, I had a piece of trout once that was acceptable, other than that, Walleye had the texture of fish with none of the flavor! A good expensive piece of Shashimi Grade tuna raw and cold is always a delight, I just don't know where you would get it if you didn't live off an ocean coast. http://www.fishex.com/fish-market/salmon/copper-river-wild-salmon.html http://news-service.stanford.edu/news/2005/may4/gifs/tuna_feeds.jpg
  13. Yeah, maybe in the midwest they do . . . . I'll take the delicious Arctic Grayling . . . http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/20/Arctic_grayling.JPG/800px-Arctic_grayling.JPG
  14. That is one of the funniest things I have read in a while. "the lynching could have been better . . . ." Ahh wrastlin' I miss the "Claw" http://prettyboycolt.com/images/baron_twoClaws.jpg Hey! Now that I look at that, Baron von Raschke looks a lot like Herc from The Wire!
  15. Or SS, he wasn't bad there and they just moved him because of Betancourt. Also has one of the best attitudes I have seen. Replacing him with Brad Wilkerson doesn't seem like much of a plan. I hope it falls through.
  16. He's the new anti-Jim Bowden. He's bald, he's bad, he's a symbol of old school nepotism in baseball. He's the front office EQ of Joe Buck, without the Budweiser commercials. Ah carp . . . http://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/mariners/
  17. your loss http://farm1.static.flickr.com/84/265393438_fa61c39883.jpg
  18. well i do enable perv's who like the naked girl bike riders. The hit total on those three pics are well into the "splitter post" numbers, to steal the thunder from another thread. and at least I don't keep calling up Guillermo del Toro's house, breathlessly asking when he'll make another movie, then hang up. With no pants on. that would be a perv. thanks for the kind words guys. my secret? spend a lot of money.
  19. UW is FAR more beloved, historically, currently and in future regards. Don James is a god around here. When the Volleyball team one the title 2 years back the town went nuts. Heck Seattle U. is higher regarded than the Sonics. Elgin Baylor, man! The Mariners choked a few years back when they won 116 i would be delirious if the Brewers "choked" in such a fashion. and there were a few outside events in the fall of 2001 that may have added to the Yankees desire to win.
  20. Good god! you take one half-good rollerderby pic and suddenly people come out of the woodwork. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2203/2205861629_c69aeb9be1.jpg Go ahead, add to my hit total . . . http://www.flickr.com/photos/edgardiazrocks/ It's just silly this week.
  21. I cut way back just because I didn't want to come off as "showy" or "russ like".http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. The Brewers have avoided Boras clients each and every year. Actually LaPorta was a Boras guy, wasn't he? Little different situation being a Senior and all . . . but still.
  23. I blame the fans. They didn't believe HARD enough. Should have rubbed more dirt on their retro uni's
  24. Steve? Really? You mean the Reds haven't given up on the guy they traded Austin Kearns for? I get first names wrong so much it's becoming a little silly. And that dude is from the PDX Beer Festival. It's odd because it's all independent brewers so I don't know how he went so long without a cold PBR Tallboy.
