So my question is twofold 1. First, why isn't Matt Arnold signed too an extension already? 2. Why aren't high quality GM's paid more than they seem to be? It was hard to find clear numbers for MLB GM's compared to say managers or players. That said, i couldn't find anything showing a GM making even just 10 million per. The highest paid GM that i could find was Andrew Friedman when he signed a 7ry/35 million dollar deal with the Dodgers. In the grand scheme baseball economics, that strikes me as pocket change for easily the most important person in a team's organization, so long as that person is given the power to run his organization without to much interference. A GM who is given a budget and largely told have at it, he won't just choose players to sign/cut loose, they help build the whole front office staff working underneath him. Who oversees the draft. Those who are highest in charge of scouting very young Latin players. How well he gets along with companions at work to where a GM is willing to take input on decisions. A quality GM like that who wins and builds a strong overall organization, that seems easily worth at least 10 million per.to me. That brings me to Matt Arnold who is in the last year of his contract if what i read is correct. I won't claim to know if Arnold has aspirations beyond the small market Brewers, similar to David Stearns leaving for the Mets. If that ends up being the case, i'd say thanks and wish him well so long as it wasn't with say the Cardinals. That said, if Arnold was open to staying, but were to leave with contract issues being a sizable factor as to why, i will be irritated given what GM's are paid. This current Brewers organization is humming along on so many levels and Matt Arnold deserves a bunch of credit as to why. I'd really hate to see him leave over maybe 3-5 million per, peanuts in the overall team revenues from year to year.

Given our small market status, pretty much nobody on the roster should be off limits to being traded before they can reach free agency. That said, as with any potential trade, whether it would make sense for the Brewers would reside in the exact details of the trade since a variety of factors could impact if the trade made sense. Quality of players offered in return Service time of all players involved Money in the present What kind of money the team would be ok risking on a pitching contract How much money Attanasio is willing to spend on future payrolls If other starters like Peralta, Lauer, Houser, and Ashby continued pitching well If those above also remained healthy I'm sure that the Brewers front office at least thinks about this stuff now, even if they have no real intention of trading a starter any time soon this season. It's a constant balance which all winning small market teams face as they must always focus more on the present and future compared to teams with much larger revenue streams.

I remember being so excited when i saw the Badgers landed this current coaching staff. Never would i have thought the overall results of their tenure would be this disappointing. Sure, Granato has had to deal with quite a few of his players leaving early to go pro, but that is pretty common for good college programs, without them falling apart like Wisconsin has.

For whatever reason, baseball is to afraid to change rules in hopes of making the game more entertaining to fans. The NFL and NBA regularly tweak their rules in ways they feel will make their product better, to the point that when these changes happen, often fans just shrug and let things play out to see if the result is a better product. With baseball though, often there is freak out over changes compared to other sports, for tradition reasons i guess. Oh my lord, we are going to start extra innings with a runner on second base or say shifting might be limited. If the NFL people were in charge of baseball, i highly doubt that they'd be so afraid to try and shake things up in hopes of a more entertaining game.

Clearly the biggest concern is that Yelich is rarely driving the ball, whether it's into the gaps for doubles or home runs. The question then is why? Is he dealing with a nagging injury which is the main cause? Is it instead a mix of minor injuries and all the time missed which has thrown off his timing at the plate? Or is it mainly a mental issue to where the struggles/inability to hit as he expects to do, it's gotten into his head and thus as each game goes by with him rolling over on even grooved pitches that he used to crush, his frustration within himself just deepens? Then again, it very well could be a combination of all of the above. So long as it's not mainly being caused by say his back issues or any other specific injury that could negatively impact his performance for years to come, i'm reasonably confident that Christian will bounce back, just probably not to his MVP level seasons.

Except he's barely been needed, taking only 97 (20th most, about 2.2%) of the Brewers 4,382 total position player plate appearances from 2020-21. When he has been sparingly called upon, he has posted a 115 wRC+, putting him in a three way tie for 5th on the team along with Yelich & Wong. Yea, Jace is a decent utility player. He can play multiple positions, he takes walks at an above average rate, and he has a little bit of power. I'm fine with him in the role he has. In 97 at bats over the two seasons with the Brewers, Jace has drawn 20 walks leading to roughly a .350 OBP and he's hit 4 home runs.

Regarding Cabrera, he's been continuously available seemingly every year, always seems somewhat productive, always signed for relatively cheap, yet Stearns has never gone that way. I've also wondered why Stearns hasn't shown interest in Cabrera over the last 2-3 years? Hell, he signed with Arizona this year for only 1.7 million, pocket change.

They eye test tells me differently. Why is it a false narrative, because you disagree? On numerous occasions this season, his arm has looked weak, not nearly as strong as you'd expect a starting MLB SS arm should look. Part of it may be that he just doesn't compare to Arcia when it comes to arm strength, the other part is that his arm just isn't that strong. From what i recall, most of his throwing errors came on grounders pretty much right to him and thus Urias didn't feel like he had to put a lot on his throw to first, so he made that looping type of throw which he'd then sail it right over the firstbaseman's head. On plays though where Urias didn't feel like he had plenty of time and instead he just had to react quickly and put more on his throws, he didn't have the same accuracy problems.

Yep. Sinclair is basically saying "If you don't have access to cable, no baseball for you! If it was one streaming service that pulled the plug on the RSNs, it would be easy to blame the service. But when it's literally all of them (besides bloated AT&T and its terrible platform and interface), the blame rests squarely with Sinclair. I pay about 120 a month for my cable/internet via AT&T and can't complain much about the overall service. Between Brewers baseball, Bucks basketball, Badgers hockey/football, and the NFL, having cable is a must for me, besides other shows i watch on various networks.

The commercial breaks have become unbarerable. That's why i DVR pretty much every Brewers, Bucks, Packers, and Badgers game i watch. I watch something else which i have recorded and then turn the game on about an hour after each game starts so i can fast forward through the numerous commercials. That hour is just around the perfect amount of time to get to the end of each sporting event without having to watch any commercials. When i do have to sit through a game live and watch all of the commercials, especially one Gruber law offices commercials after another, it's pure torture. I can't imagine TV viewing anymore without a DVR.

A lot of teams will be facing a financial crunch because of the shortened season, no fans in the stands, and the uncertainty of if/when fans can return to stadiums next year, not just the Brewers. It's probably going to make for an offseason like we've never seen before with so much financial uncertainty. Becoming a free agent this year couldn't come at a worse time for most players. Lot's of teams likely bargain hunting on shorter term deals until this whole Covid situation is over and teams can have more financial certainty.

My daughter and I went skydiving last weekend. We drove together and hugged a few times before/after finishing the skydive. She then calls me a few days later and says that the husband who lives under her in the duplex tested positive after having a cold like symptoms, but his wife later tested negative. Kinda odd, makes me wonder if either test was inaccurate. Well, both my daughter and I have felt zero symptoms, but were we supposed to get tested anyways given she is also friends with that couple living below her? Not sure on this stuff. We did cancel plans to go out to eat for both mine and my sister's birthday. Beyond that, i don't know.

Walking Dead is still appointment tv for me, but that is the only one... Everything else I watch is dvr'd. I used to really like Walking Dead, but i think it's gotten more and more silly the last few seasons to the point i finally stopped watching it. Negan is the only character i still found interesting, but he was better as a bad guy. AMC allowed The Walking Dead to drag along for to many seasons because it still got ratings. Same thing for Dexter and Lost on other networks. Breaking Bad did the smart thing. End the show before the writers could no longer keep Breaking Bad the epic show that it was.

Or just be smart enough to go online and purchase certain products available which are fairly reliable at passing most drug tests. I know a few people who smoke weed and used these products to pass drug tests for the jobs which they currently hold.
