  1. I remember the fight to build Miller Park. That was such a contentious time. Tommy Thompson and of course, George Petak took severe political hits. I stayed up late to listen to the Senate vote on the radio, and when it was voted down, I immediately turned the radio off & went to bed thinking the team would leave. I've seldom been more shocked as I was the next morning, learning the stadium tax had passed overnight. Milwaukee & Wisconsin can't possibly have the stomach to go through that again. There would have to be another way to address the stadium in order to have a positive outcome for the Brewers. I'd always thought that the stadium tax would just never go away, constantly being kept on the books to finance endless renovations. Hopefully this is being worked out ahead of time, behind the scenes this time. They can't do it the same way; it's not going to work again. It almost didn't work the first time.

  3. Renfroe's got them halfway back. There's still time
  4. I think it'll include Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Miami Marlins, and Tampa Bay Rays games as well. Waiting for this so we can cancel our satellite. I'll get Bally's, my wife will get Discovery Plus, and we're good.
  5. So MVP Yelich and Washed-Up Yelich exist simultaneously, until one of them is rendered non-existent by outside observation. But he is more entertaining than a dead/living cat.

  9. Pittsburgh has had poor attendance as long as I can remember, but its always surprising to see that empty stadium at the beginning of the season. Looks like a Thanos snap there in Pittsburgh!
  10. I like Jackie Robinson Day. Wouldn't mind teams having their own days like this; Brewers could have 19 day Just don't like them being forced to wear Dodgers colors. I bet the Giants REALLY don't like it
  11. I had an idea like this. Games six days a week as a home and home series between the same teams. So, for example, Brewers would host the Pirates Tues-Thurs, then visit Pittsburgh Fri to Sun. Then Monday off & start the next week with a different team. I'm sure a schedule could be configured to be a bunch of 6 game homestands & 6 game road trips. It's be nice for marketing, especially for the weaker teams. A team like the Orioles could market the heck out of Angels week, capitalizing on the popularity of the opponent.
  12. Treego14's post in the Trade Rumors Forum made me think of this. A creative idea that probably can't happen in the real world. Maybe it should, maybe it shouldn't; but a thought provoking post nonetheless. It made me wonder; what would a person do if they were suddenly appointed Monarch of Baseball for Life? No worrying about if the owners or players would like your edicts. You are the Monarch. What the Monarch says goes. A couple of things come to mind for me. I would pay players a set percentage of revenue. No individual contracts. The teams sign the players; the players union decides how to pay them. I'd also allow the trading of draft picks. I'd move the draft to the same day as the trade deadline, televise it, and encourage all the teams to trade up & down while moving current players. Like an NFL Draft, but in the middle of the season. What would you do?
