  1. According to mlbtraderumors.com, the Brewers asked Baltimore for Manny Machado in exchange for Greinke. The O's declined.
  2. The Marlins thought they would be contending this year. I woul think there could be a deal made of major leaguers for major leaguers.
  3. It's not as much about value as it is about scarcity. If Hamels signs, ZG will be the best pitcher available. And for that, he will reap a signicant financial premium.
  4. I've seen in a few places where Miami is believed to have made Hanley Ramirez available. This is the type of move that I would expect Doug Melvin to make.
  5. What happens if the Brewers & DBacks tie for the second best record? They wouldn't have to play a tiebreaker game, would they?
  6. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/a...il&partnerId=rss_mil Thursday, 4-7:30. Free admission, five bucks for parking.
  7. Thanks for the input, guys. We're still determining if we'll use the site, but I'm leaning towards no. I just can't see that anyone who owns the music can possibly be getting paid.
  8. OK, so my teenage son is trying to concvince me that this Russian music download site, gomusicnow.com, is legal for use here in the US. He's pretty amped at the possibility of getting music for 9 to 15 cents a song, so you can guess how things are going around my house. Anyone have any experience with this site, or any information on it's legality? Any help would be appreciated, as the boy is holding on to this one like a bulldog who snagged the last hamburger.
  9. Dont forget Milt Mason, the inspiration for Bernie Brewer. From Wikipedia; In late June 1970, when the Brewers were still a new team and having difficulty drawing spectators to their games at Milwaukee County Stadium, Milt Mason, a 69-year-old fan decided to sit atop top the scoreboard until the team could draw a home crowd of 40,000. He was there for about 40 days. To the delight of a Bat Day crowd of 44,387 on August 16, Mason descended from his trailer following the Brewers 4-3 win over the Indians. he slid down a rope from his perch sustaining burns to his hands and legs. After a long illness, Mason died on June 12, 1973 but not before being recognized as the original Bernie Brewer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Brewer
  10. Voted. Lienie's Sunset Wheat, please.
  11. I downloaded the Internet browser. Anyone know how to get a version of Flash on there? All the sites my kids go to need Flash. Also, what's the best way to incorporate a QWERTY keyboard?
  12. How about just Game One at a neutral site? This could make it an event as big as the Super Bowl, with folks able to plan travel & reserve hotels a full year in advance. Then alternate the remaining games between the two participating teams, 2-2-1-1. Being able to schedule this so far in advance could help MLB make a boatload of cash, as well as have baseball compete with football for the biggest sporting event of the year.
  13. Looks like they let Corey Hart make the calls.

  15. In our household, we always refer to Cory Hart as "Caveman", just because we think he looks like the guys on the insurance commercial. Also, it's not really a knickname, but whenever Kevin Mench would come up to bat, my young daughter would call out, "Hit it over the fench, Mench!"
  16. The 1901 Brewers moved to St. Louis to become the Browns, then later that franchise moved to Baltimore to become the Orioles.

  20. Best to take the high road, something like, "We've been at the top all season long, so I can understand why you are excited to be playing nearly as well as we are. I'm glad your team is finally making a race of it. Congratulations on making it to second place."
  21. Good deal. Griping about the cost of relievers during a playoff race is like refusing to have fun on your trip to Disney World because the food is so expensive.
  22. www.shepherd-express.com/...ckexpand=Y The rumor just won't die. The above link is to a story in the Shepherd Express, that in part, says, Ok, I've promised not to name names. But what if I told you an acquaintance had a casual conversation with a baseball team's TV announcer on or about Tuesday evening and that announcer claimed to have spoken with Ken Griffey Jr. right before the All-Star break, since the Reds were in town? What if I also said that the announcer in question claims to have had a discussion about trades with Griffey? And what if this discussion also mentioned how close Griffey and Prince Fielder are? And what if, after this discussion, the announcer asked Griffey about Milwaukee and Griffey had on a big grin and said "you know I can't talk about that"? It may never happen, but this is one of the funnest rumors we've had in a long time. Enjoy.
  23. My VCR lopped off the last 10 minutes or so of last night's show. Can anyone give me a summary of the conclusion? Thanks.
  24. www.signonsandiego.com/sp...adres.html The San Diego Union Tribune reports the Brewers are interested in Dave Roberts as a free agent. Says other teams interested are the Cubs, White Sox & Rockies. Roberts could sign as a free agent on November 11.
