  1. Fine with me. But there should be a cap also. Either that or revenue sharing increases because you just cannot keep having the differences you do across the board with resources. And lowering the luxury-tax threshold from $210 to $180. 7 teams are currently under $100 and 9 teams are over $180.
  2. I don't see the Bickford comparison. Bickford has 5 more years of team control and could have helped in the future. Norris is a free agent at the end of the season and was picked up to help this year, since he won't be around next year. If he's not helping the team win over the next 6 weeks, what's the point?
  3. 41-20 on the road. The Brewers best road record is 47-34 in 1982. 45-37 in 2018. Losing road record in 2011, 39-42. MLB record is the 2001 Mariners, 59-22.
  4. It seemed like some years, they didn't have any shutouts, so I looked it up. 3 shutouts in 2003 (Sheets, Franklin, Kinney, Rusch, Obermueller) .
  5. Is it too soon to start the magic number thread?
  6. The MLB record for reliever wins is 18, set in 1959 by Pittsburgh's Roy Face.
  7. The alternative to Norris would be Perdomo/Milner. Do you think they are better options? Certainly Norris hasn't had a good first few outings by any stretch, but shouldn't call for a DFA unless you are convinced one of those guys is better. I think we give Norris a few more chances before we cut ties. And he'll actually probably be easier to hide in the back of the bullpen once September rolls around if he doesn't figure it out before then. Regardless, this is a bit of a miss for Stearns at this point clearly unless something drastically changes. The alternative to Norris is a bullpen of Hader, Williams, Cousins, Gustave, Boxberger, Strickland, Sanchez, and Suter who are all better against lefties than Norris this year.
  8. Doesn't it come down to putting the best 13 pitchers out there? Who gets sent down when Gustave and Houser come back? Do they option Gustave and Sanchez and keep Norris? Is sounds like Gustave is getting close.
  9. I wonder if it is an "injury" to keep him in the minors until Sept 1st.
  10. Can they just admit it was a mistake and DFA him when one of the pitchers returns from the covid list?
  11. Interesting. Hader and Lauer worked out together in Whitefish Bay: https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/josh-hader-reinstated-from-covid-19-injured-list Strickland and Cousins worked out at Strickland's ranch in GA. https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/hunter-strickland-jake-cousins-covid-recovery Yelich played guitar in his apartment. Gustave was stuck in an Atlanta hotel room and couldn't work out. And it sounds like Houser had it worse and will need more time.
  12. It looks like Houser will need some extra time as well.
  13. Topa has options left and with 4 pitchers coming off the covid list soon, he likely will end up in AAA.
  14. I was wondering how you have 15 K's and pitch 8 innings, but only throw 99 pitches.
  15. ok, never mind then. :-) So Curtiss to the 10 day, likely 60 day soon. Perdomo to 10 day. Topa activated leaves the 40 man full. And Milner does survive and is activated.
  16. Oops, noticed a mistake on the 16th. Need to open a 26 man spot for Houser. Can we please DFA Norris? I suppose Sanchez might be the odd man out and be optioned.
  17. Potential activity in the next week: 8/11 - Hader active, Curtiss DL (40) 8/13 - Hiura optioned, Axford 60 day (40) 8/14 - Lauer active, Perdomo optioned, Lopes DFA (40) 8/15 - Shaw DFA (40) 8/16 - Houser active, Gustave option, Lobstein DFA, Yardley DFA (40) 8/17 - Topa optioned, Vogelbach DFA (40)
  18. Hopefully, it's just Houser and Lauer because they worked out of the pen. With the off days, they could go with 4 days rest for the remaining starters. Use a spot starter on the 9th or 10th and hope Lauer is back the 14th and Houser back the 16th.
  19. You could also make the case that Yelich should be at the top of the order. Despite his lack of slugging, he is leading the team in OBP.
  20. Ben Sheets says hi.
  21. It's got to be Suter. He's tied for 4th in the NL in wins.
  22. Lots of turnover, but 12 all star appearances in 22 years, including this year.
  23. The Brewers transaction page says he was optioned to Nashville.
  24. Severity of the injury is also a big factor now. If he goes on the 10 day DL, he takes up a valuable 40 man spot that will be needed soon. But 60 day means he's done for the year.
