  1. What about Milner? I thought he was arby eligible?
  2. Most of the bullpen has options for next year. Looks like we could see a lot of shuttling of relievers.
  3. ARod, Ortiz and Fielder among those on the HOF ballot for the first time. I don't see any sure things this year. https://www.mlb.com/news/2022-hall-of-fame-ballot-mlb
  4. My daughter is 8. The last time a Brewers won the Cy Young, I was 8.
  5. I'm happy for him, but he will be missed. I think due to his rough first half, people don't realize that he had a much better second half than Narvaez. 892 OPS vs 592.
  6. Here is my optimism: JBJ is going to decline his option, take the $6.5 million, and hope for a rebound back in the AL to get a bigger payday next year.
  7. We've got a 3 year window with the pitching staff. I don't think it's hyperbole to say that the success over that window depends on Yelich. He's taking 1/4 of the payroll over the next 7 years. Add to that the money they're paying Braun, Cain and Bradley over the next 5 years, whether they're playing or not and there's not a ton of money to upgrade the offense.
  8. At least Garza is off the books next year, replaced by 10 years of $1.8 million/year deferred for Braun.
  9. It's too bad they're going to win both road games. They'll have to settle for celebrating in Atlanta and not at home.
  10. Seattle's playoff drought reaches 20 years. But I was surprised to see Philly reach 10 years. It seems like yesterday that they were a powerhouse.
  11. We're just glad only 1 of St Louis, LA or SF will make it out of the NLDS.
  12. Just looking at the splits, pitching is slightly better on the road, 3.04 vs 3.77 ERA and that probably makes sense given Miller Park. But why can't they hit at home? Home: 224/292/364/656 - 24th OPS Road: 244/322/410/732 - 10th in OPS This is the first time in Brewer's history that they've had a winning record and are worse at home.
  13. Knocking the Cards out of the playoffs would be a nice cherry on the top of this season.
  14. I'm still amazed that I was watching 5 hall of famers on that 82 team.
  15. Counsell praised Maile's game calling in Houser's shutout. I could see him as the backup catcher next year.
  16. How crazy is it that it's Labor Day, the team is on pace to win 99 games and none of the starters have 10 wins?
  17. So it seems like Escobar will replace Wong on the active roster.
  18. There are enough off days between the regular season and playoffs that you can line up Woodruff, Burnes and Peralta for games 1,2,3. What's not so clear is who starts game 4? Lauer, Houser, Ashby? Woodruff could come back for game 5 if needed. It's likely that Anderson gets left off the NLDS roster again.
  19. I don't know the dates, but eventually I think it will be: Escobar, Taylor, Vogelbach active. Reyes optioned. Lopes DFA. 14 position players Peralta active. Milner, Gustave, Perdomo optioned. Yardley DFA. 14 pitchers. Maile only sees action, if there is an injury and won't be DFAd because he is the main backup in case of injury.
  20. aaron ashby is optioned before hoby milner? i'd be grooming ashby for the postseason roster, and not with class aaa nashville. Ashby seems to be primarily a starter now. Do they need 7 starters in September?
  21. It's good for the city when local athletes put money back into the community, like Junior Bridgeman and Hank Aaron, who ran successful businesses in Milwaukee after they retired. I believe Ben Sheets also bought part ownership of the Admirals a few years ago.
  22. So a Packer owns part of the Bucks, a Buck owns part of the Brewers and Brewers own part of the Admirals?
  23. Pina is a free agent and with the miles on him, I don't think he'll be back. Boxberger and Stickland are also free agents and will likely find bigger bucks elsewhere. Vogelbach, Hiura, Cousins, and Lindblom are back next year. I don't see any big free agents unless they can dump some salary elsewhere.
  24. Thought it would be interesting to compare the recently updated MLB list with this one. Frelick was just named to the top 100 list, so he would probably be higher, if the vote happened now. Names - MLB / Brewerfan Garrett Mitchell - 1 / 1 Sal Frelick - 2 / 6 Brice Turang - 3 / 4 Hedbert Perez - 4 / 5 Ethan Small - 5 / 2 Jefferson Quero - 6 / 10 Tyler Black - 7 / 11 Aaron Ashby - 8 / 3 Joe Gray - 9 / 7 Antoine Kelly - 10 / 9 Freddy Zamora - 11 / 15 Eduardo Garcia - 12 / 13 Mario Feliciano - 13 / 8 Xavier Warren - 14 / 12 Korry Howell - 15 / 14 David Hamilton - 16 / 17 Alex Binelas - 17 / 19 Jackson Chourio - 18 / 21 Russell Smith - 19 / 23 Jheremy Vargas - 20 / x Logan Henderson - 21 / x Carlos Rodriguez - 22 / x Joey Wiemer - 23 / x Alec Bettinger - 24 / x Thomas Dillard - 25 / x Abner Uribe - 26 / 24 Luis Medina - 27 / x Hayden Chantrelle - 28 / x Triston Lutz - 29 / 25 Victor Castaneda - 30 / x Felix Valerio - x / 16 Jake Cousins - x / 18 Justin Bullock - x / 22 Dylan File - x / 20
  25. With Houser back Sunday and a day off Monday, they can still go with 5 days rest and not need a starter until the 29th when Peralta could be back. So barring another injury or doubleheader, I don't see Ashby until September.
